CHAPTER 378: CHAPTER 391: PUTTING ON AN ACT
Sometimes, videos don’t necessarily represent the truth, especially since most surveillance videos aren’t very clear. Since Grace Yowell could say something like this, Mabel Quinn figured Grace had taken the video factor into account when she orchestrated the incident.
Alice Conley couldn’t hold back her anger and said, "Grace Yowell, don’t you have any shame saying that?! You tried to frame Mabel, you yourself bumped your arm into the coffee, intentionally burned it, and now you’re here putting on a phony show!"
Grace Yowell’s expression turned even more aggrieved and indignant, "This is completely a counter-accusation. I’ve been burned like this, and it could leave a permanent scar on my arm. Why would I harm myself like this? I don’t care who you are, this is a police station. Everyone heard what you just said; I’m going to sue you for defamation!"
"Fine, go ahead and sue me, I’ll be waiting!" Alice Conley replied.
Mabel Quinn pulled Alice Conley behind her and said to Grace Yowell, "This has nothing to do with Alice. The words she just said were from me, so if you really want to sue for defamation, you can sue me directly."
"I never expected you to say something like this." Grace Yowell put on a very sad face, but inside she was secretly delighted. This was exactly what she wanted. She turned to Daniel Harris and said, "Daniel, I initially thought that if Mabel could apologize to me, I could let it go, but now I really can’t forgive her."
As she spoke, she bit her red lips, and the tears in her eyes seemed ready to fall at any moment.
Nearby, a policeman couldn’t help but say to Mabel Quinn, "It’s clear you’re the one who did this to Miss Yowell. How can you say something like that? Even as an outsider, I can’t stand it!"
Another officer advised, "Intentional injury can be a big deal or a small one! Your current attitude will only make the judge impose a harsher sentence!"
Alice Conley was anxious, afraid that her impulsiveness would drag her friend into trouble.
Daniel Harris, with a stern face, suddenly spoke, "Mabel Quinn, if you are willing to apologize to Grace, then this matter can end here, and no one will hold you accountable."
"Daniel!" Grace Yowell exclaimed lowly, feeling discontent. She wanted to blow this matter up, which is why she staged it this way. If it ended here, wouldn’t her injuries be for nothing?
But since Daniel Harris had spoken, Grace Yowell didn’t dare rebut, only slightly biting her red lips and lowering her head to hide her faint displeasure.
In Mabel Quinn’s eyes, a hint of surprise flashed. She looked at Daniel Harris, "So, you believe Grace Yowell’s words and think that I intentionally burned her arm with coffee?"
Daniel Harris’ eyes slightly lowered, "I only see the facts in front of me. If you are wrong, you should apologize. Grace is not someone who would press the issue relentlessly. If you apologize, she’ll forgive you."
At this moment, Grace Yowell looked up and feigned meekness, "Yes, Mabel, as long as you admit you deliberately burned my arm with coffee and apologize, I won’t sue you. But at the very least...I hope your apology is sincere, not a fake one."
Mabel Quinn looked at Grace Yowell, who was still acting, and only felt a wave of disgust.
