Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 45: The Least Need to Fear
CHAPTER 45: CHAPTER 45: THE LEAST NEED TO FEAR
What he meant was... if she hadn’t shown up here today, then perhaps he would have done something to make her regret it immensely?
She had no doubt that he had that ability! A strange sense of fear spread from the depths of her heart.
As if sensing her fear, he slowly straightened up, those jet-black phoenix eyes fixed firmly on her.
They were very close. She could easily see her own face in his dark pupils. She stood there, stunned, her mind blank until his voice came again, low and soft, "You don’t need to be afraid of me, maybe... in this world, the person you least need to fear is me."
She was taken aback. What did he mean by that?
But before she could think it through, he suddenly released his arms and headed straight for the stairs to the second floor, leaving Mabel Quinn, Caleb, and Kyle Kinston’s bodyguards looking at each other in dismay.
Caleb’s mood at this moment was just as hard to calm as Mabel Quinn’s.
Although it was not the first time he had seen his boss hug Mabel Quinn, it was the first time seeing it so up close. And because he saw it up close, he was even more shocked.
For a moment, he even felt as if Elder Kinston loved this woman to death, as if he would spare no cost to keep her tied by his side, not allowing her to step away.
But that feeling was only fleeting. Immediately, Caleb mocked himself, thinking, how could a man like Elder Kinston, who strategizes effortlessly and can even control the fate of a nation, be driven to life and death over a woman?
Moreover, Mabel Quinn wasn’t so beautiful as to cause the fall of a city or a country.
Caleb could only lament Mabel Quinn’s good fortune in being noticed by Elder Kinston. But he didn’t know if Elder Kinston’s interest was temporary, or if...
In the evening, Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston had dinner together.
The dinner was quite sumptuous, but she didn’t have much appetite, always feeling a vague discomfort in her stomach.
"What’s wrong? Is the food not to your liking?" Kyle asked.
"Oh, no." She quickly shook her head, and then proceeded to eat a few more bites of the food.
He glanced at her and then said, "Is the room satisfactory?"
"The room is nice," she replied. Fortunately, he had prepared a separate room for her, otherwise if she had to stay in the same room with him every day, she feared she would be sleepless every night. "But those clothes and bags..."
"If you don’t like them, I’ll give you my bank card later. You can go buy whatever you like," he said.
That was not what she meant at all, "No need, I meant to say that I brought my own clothes and bags and shoes, so you really didn’t need to prepare those for me, and I also get living expenses from home, plus I earn money from working part-time."
"So you still don’t want any ties with me, do you, Mabel Quinn?" he asked, his voice seemingly casual, and he didn’t even look at her as he calmly ate his meal. Yet inexplicably, it made her heart skip a beat.
Yes, she didn’t want any ties with him, so even at this point, she was still trying as much as possible to reduce the entanglement between the two of them, including materially.
But her little thoughts had obviously been seen right through by him.
She didn’t know how to answer; even an idiot would know that it wasn’t the time to tell the truth. Fortunately, he didn’t press further, as if he had never asked the question.
