Alice Conley received a call from Dorian Howards while waiting for the bus. No matter how many times she refused him, Dorian could always laugh it off and continue to pursue her.

When Dorian arrived, Alice had already bought her meal and was eating it slowly at the table.

Seeing Dorian, she immediately offered enthusiastically, "What do you want to eat? I’ll go get it for you."

Her eagerness made him feel momentarily nostalgic, as if they were back to their dating days when she was just as eager, almost like a sycophant, trying to please him.

If someone else acted like this, he wouldn’t care, and might even find it annoying.

But when it’s her, he finds it endearing. Deep down, he still falls for her behavior.

Yet this girl, who repeatedly claims to cut ties with him, is now being so attentive for no reason, which surely means something’s up.

Without showing any emotion, Dorian watched Alice flitting around like a busy little bee, buying him food, getting extra napkins and ketchup, all with a smile that seemed a bit urgent.

"So, what’s up? Inviting me to dinner today?" Dorian asked. Although he disliked junk food, maybe because he was with her, he found the food didn’t taste so bad after all.
