CHAPTER 539: CHAPTER 558: PERSEVERING TOGETHER

"Alright, I’m heading to Drumbeat Village now. You stay at the mansion. I’ll bring Kyle back." Dorian Howards said.

He could somewhat guess that Kyle didn’t want Caleb and the driver to follow him, likely because the pain from his Full Moon Blood Curse would be visible to them.

Dorian Howards returned to the dining room and said to Alice Conley, "Alice, sorry, I have an urgent matter and need to leave now. Thank you for dinner tonight."

"Wait a minute!" Alice Conley sensed something was wrong, "Is the place you’re going related to what I just said?" Otherwise, there was no reason for him to go make a phone call with a sudden change in expression after hearing her words.

Dorian Howards thought for a moment and said, "Yes, Mabel Quinn might have gone to Drumbeat Village with Daniel Harris’s mother, because Kyle said he was going there, so I need to go too, to prevent anything from happening to Kyle on the way."

Alice Conley immediately clung to his arm, "Then I want to go too."

"What?" Dorian Howards was shocked, "You want to go too?"

"Yes, you’re worried about Kyle, and I’m worried about Mabel, so of course I want to go too."

Dorian Howards rubbed his forehead. He was concerned about dealing with the after-effects when Kyle’s Blood Curse acted up, and if he took Alice Conley with him, what would he do if she saw it?

However, once Alice Conley got stubborn, not even nine oxen could drag her back. No matter how much Dorian Howards tried to reason with her, Alice Conley wouldn’t let go of his arm, making it clear she’d go together, and there was no way to ditch her.

Dorian Howards sighed and had to take Alice Conley along, planning to figure things out once they reached Drumbeat Village.

Once they got in the car, Alice Conley quickly made a phone call home, saying she had something to handle today and might come back late.

"Who’s with you right now?" Alice’s mother asked, sounding worried.

"Dorian Howards is with me, Mom, don’t worry," Alice Conley said, intending to assure her of her safety.

But her words made Alice Conley more annoyed because her mother said over the phone, "Alice, dear, I know you young people are very open-minded now, unlike in our time. I’m happy to see you and Dorian together, but make sure to take precautions, okay? And don’t slip to your dad when you get back; he’s even more conservative than I am."

Alice Conley rolled her eyes and simply said, "Mom, you’re overthinking it!" and then hung up the phone.

"What’s up? What did your mom say?" Dorian Howards asked.

Alice Conley rolled her eyes at him again. Ultimately, her mom said those things because Dorian Howards was good at winning her parents over, and her mom already saw him as a future son-in-law.

"Nothing, just drive," Alice Conley said, as she was still more concerned about Mabel’s side of things. Drumbeat Village, wasn’t that the little village where Mabel met Daniel Harris before?

Why did Daniel’s mother and Mabel go to Drumbeat Village now? And why did Kyle rush over too?

Alice Conley bit her lip, just hoping it was all her overthinking.

When Mabel Quinn and Daniel’s mother arrived at Drumbeat Village, it was already dark. The village was much quieter than before. Most people had gone to work in the cities, leaving only some elderly and children in the village.
