CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 59: WHY ME?

"Thank you," Mabel Quinn said. If it weren’t for him, how could that manager have apologized to her?

"Today, I just happened to hear it over the phone. If I hadn’t heard it, would you have even told me?" he asked.

She remained silent, but her expression had already answered everything.

Kyle Kinston slowly stood up, looking down at Mabel Quinn, "So originally, you didn’t plan on telling me about this, did you?"

His voice seemed to carry a faint chill.

Mabel Quinn couldn’t help but tremble slightly, "If I were to tell you every time I got upset outside, wouldn’t that annoy you to death?"

He let out a light laugh, though it seemed the laughter didn’t reach his eyes, "Do you often get upset outside?"

"Actually, not often. Today was... somewhat of an exception," she said.

"Then why not tell me how exactly today was an exception?" he said, walking over to the bar, taking a bottle of wine, and pouring some into a glass, his phoenix eyes glancing over at her, "Want some?"

She quickly shook her head, "I don’t drink."

He took a light sip of wine, leisurely waiting for her to tell her story.

She had no choice but to roughly recount the conflict with Lyra Grant in the restaurant. Of course, she didn’t mention her past grievances with Lyra Grant or what exactly Katie wanted her to help with.

Kyle Kinston, after listening, asked, "So did you feel relieved after today’s incident?"

"What?" She didn’t quite understand what he meant at first.

"If you still feel like you can’t let go of the anger from this, then you can say what it would take to feel relieved. Do you want that manager to never be able to make a living in J City again? Or have that colleague of yours fall from grace so they can’t be arrogant in front of you? Or perhaps you want that restaurant to close down tomorrow and change ownership?" Kyle Kinston said lightly, as if the things he mentioned were insignificant and as if he could achieve them with a simple gesture.

In an instant, Mabel Quinn felt a heavy oppression. A person like him could easily control the fate of others, much like the fate of Katie’s boyfriend was currently in his grasp.

"What’s wrong? Why did your face suddenly turn so pale?" he approached her, raising a hand to touch her cheek.

Almost instinctively, she turned her head aside, avoiding his hand.

His hand fell empty, paused mid-air, and his phoenix eyes flashed with a sharp light, as if trying to see right through her.

In the next moment, his hand abruptly clamped down on her jaw, forcing her face to face him directly.

He bent his head low, their faces extremely close, his thin lips slightly parted, a deep voice resonating in her ear, "Whether you like it or not, you must get used to my touch, understand?" because their lives would be bound together forever.

Her nostrils were filled with his scent, "Why me?" she couldn’t understand why he insisted she move here, why he insisted she should get used to him. Was it all just because of that accident in the underground parking lot?

But for a man like him, if he wanted a woman to give herself to him, there would probably be many women vying to get into his bed, right?

His fingers gripping her jaw seemed to tighten some more, and, lowering his head further, his lips came closer to hers, his phoenix eyes appeared both passionate and unwilling, "I also want to know why it’s you."
