CHAPTER 762: THE MAKERS GUILD

--

A ship approached the Rising Sun Domain bearing the insignia of the Golden Bangle Bank.

As per usual, the ship used by the bank looked luxurious and extravagant, fitting the theme of luxury and wealth that the bank represents.

Cedric, his bodyguards, and General Skylark, along with a few of his most trusted men, stood before the entrance to the domain, welcoming the arrival of the ship. Cedric was wearing a disguise; he didn’t want to make any public appearance for now, but he also couldn’t just send his men to receive these people because that would be rude, so this was his way of compromising.

When the bank’s ship opened its doors, it revealed a few groups of men on the other side.

Compared to the ship that brought them in, these men looked rather humble and honest. They didn’t wear any fancy clothes, nor were they escorting some really expensive stuff from the bank.

Contrary to belief, these people were the most valuable treasure this ship carried, and it’s not because of their lineage; it’s because of their skills.

Despite their humility, when this group of men stepped out of the ship, their strides were filled with confidence. One that was built with decades, if not more, of experience. They didn’t hold their head up high, but they didn’t cower from attention either.

When they got close, one of them, a man who was wearing a slightly better outfit compared to his comrades, stepped forward. He bowed to Cedric and his men before introducing himself.

"Greetings, Lords. I am Enzo, the appointed team leader of this group. We hail from the Makers Guild, and we’re here to answer the job posting from the Golden Bangle Bank."

The Makers Guild is a popular guild all over the chaos realm. They are a group of humble workers who banded together to form an organization that greatly benefitted the human civilization.

This guild had been around as long as the Human Council had. As their name implied, they are responsible for making things for their people. It is said that everything that could be seen in the Human Council HQ was built by the hands of the Makers Guild’s founders.

The Makers are also responsible for building almost every single vista scattered all over the realm. If someone wanted something built with quality and care, the people of the Makers Guild are who they’re looking for.

Don’t be fooled by their physical appearance. They might adopt a humble style, but in truth, most of these people were very rich. The Makers, due to their reputation, don’t run out of work to do, and their services are a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of their work cannot be denied.

As the Sector Lord and the one who quoted the job post, it’s Cedric’s duty to receive them, so he stepped forward and introduced himself.

"It’s a pleasure to meet you, Enzo. I am Stormrider, the Sector Lord of this domain. Next to me are my bodyguards, Quinella and Wilfred, and this gentleman over here is General Skylark hailing from the Human Council. We thank you for taking up the request. If you and your men don’t mind, please follow us inside so that we can continue discussing the finer details of this work."

Enzo and his men don’t have any complaints with that. And so, they and Cedric’s team entered the domain to continue discussing the work ahead.

Cedric posted a work request through the Golden Bangle Bank’s channels because he didn’t want General Skylark and his men to slow down their work progress since this concerns the safety and security of the Rising Sun Domain.

The Human Council only provided the General and his men with only enough packages and resources to build a foundation for their duty, and that’s all they’d get. The rest will have to be provided by Cedric since they’re working for him now.

This was, actually, one of the first few bottlenecks that new Sector Lords will face, especially in underdeveloped domains like the one Cedric has. It’s not so strange to see new Sector Lords taking up jobs left and right just to earn enough resources to continue constructing their ideal Sector Domain.

What makes a sector lord’s life even more difficult are the tributes. New Sector Lords are only given a small grace period where they don’t have to pay tribute. After that passes, they are, of course, expected to submit a portion of their earnings so that they can keep their position.

This makes each passing year very stressful for Sector Lords. There are even cases where Sector Lords had to sell everything they own, only to end up not recouping their losses because they were kicked out of their position before they could even warm their seats.

Just like them, Cedric also had to pay out of his pockets. He may have been appointed as the Sector Lord, but this doesn’t mean that the council will provide him with everything that he needs.

They have been incredibly generous with their bestowal already. Cedric shouldn’t expect more.

Fortunately, with the rich inheritance he got from the architect, money was not his problem at all.

Hell, because of how rich he was, Cedric was earning more money than he could spend. And that’s because of the investments that the architect left for him. Every single one of those investments is earning him interest on a daily basis, and the amount could only be said to be staggering.

Even if Cedric had to pay for every single thing for the development of the Rising Sun Domain, his coffers will still remain fat in the end.

Discussing work with Enzo and his men went smoothly.

The makers didn’t have any qualms about the immensity of the work ahead of them. They didn’t even bat an eye after knowing that their work concerns the safety of an entire sector domain.

It’s mainly because they were promised to be paid half of the amount agreed upon up front, and the other half after the job’s done. Furthermore, the daily necessities will be provided free of charge. They will also have a temporary home, and they are promised to have generous resources to work with. The deadline was very generous too.

Plus, the lord they’re working with was very amiable to work with. He listens to their concerns and was very clear about what he’s expecting from them.

Enzo and his men literally couldn’t think of any complaints. Despite the humongous task ahead, this was probably the best work setting they could possibly hope for. They almost couldn’t wait to start working.

The contract was signed, and hands were shaken. The agreement was forged and witnessed by all necessary parties.

As soon as it was official, Cedric unhesitatingly provided them with the resources to work with, including General Skylark and his men, of course. Furthermore, Cedric immediately deposited half of the payment as per agreement. Enzo and his men were notified of it as soon as the deposit was made.

Straightforward, honest, and clean. Enzo and his men almost thought that they were working for one of their own guild members. They only hesitated because, as far as they’re aware, they don’t have a sector lord in their roster.

But that’s not really the point. The Makers don’t pry into the personal identities of their clients. So long as they’re human and could pay for the job, that’s all they need to know.

But even with all the materials and resources they could possibly need provided up front, Enzo and his men can’t work just yet.

They have to settle down somewhere first, preferably near the workplace. They work on a schedule to prevent burnout. Fortunately, it didn’t take long before they found a decent place to settle into.

Enzo ordered some of his men to start building their homes while he, along with his most trusted people, talked business with General Skylark to synchronize their work.

This is where Cedric gets to witness how fast and efficient the Makers work.

They chose a stray and almost lifeless planet near the edge of the sector to settle down in the meantime, and within hours, they built a small but functional village.

The houses they built weren’t made from twigs and stones, no. They were fully constructed homes with lights, a water supply, and a modernized interior. They even brought an AI system with them to help optimize their work.

Everything they could ever need was there, giving them no reason to leave except when going to their actual work site. Cedric even heard one of them saying that they will turn this planet into a mobile base of operations by the end of the month, which is crazy efficient.

By the end of the day, Enzo and General Skylark reached a preliminary agreement and built checkpoints for their progress.

There is a load of work ahead of them, one that might take decades or even centuries to finish. Because of this, they made themselves comfortable with the schedule, knowing that they’d be here for a long while.
