CHAPTER 766: CLONING SHARED, VOID SLAVE’S GRATITUDE

--

"That’s my main body," Cedric explained to his bodyguards.

"Main Body, Sir? That means you’re..."

"Yes, I am his clone, an avatar, a puppet, whatever you call it."

"B-But...you don’t feel like one." Quinella was confused right now. Wilfred too. They’re even scanning him right now just to confirm his claim, yet they really couldn’t tell any differences.

"I know, it’s great, right?" Cedric replied chirpily. "Can’t be too careful nowadays; I’m way too popular."

The bodyguards knew where he was coming from, and they shared the same sentiment. Cedric has made a lot of noise and was truly too popular. They both knew that the whole chaos realm was practically thirsty for any updates about him. They saw it online, and they understood what the people demanded.

While Cedric didn’t mind the fame, he doesn’t want it to get in the way of his work and responsibilities. That’s why he often goes out in a disguise.

Speaking of disguises, Quinella and Wilfred also learned that their lord was really good at disguises. He already fooled them once before. Even they couldn’t see through his disguise.

Who could’ve thought that aside from his excellent disguise, this lord of theirs had another security measure for himself, one that was way better than his art of disguise?

"Lord, does this mean that the one who participated in the entire tournament was only this clone of yours?" Wilfred spoke his thoughts, feeling a sense of awe and anticipation in his heart.

"Yeah," Cedric confirmed. And both his bodyguards inhaled sharply at that.

How absurd! How gutsy! To think that their lord took on the entire generation of Heavenly Stat Chaos Realm’s geniuses with just his clone, and they couldn’t even come close, was absolutely insane.

"I’m about 90% as strong as the main body," he added casually. "And I think the Human Council knows that I’m just a clone, but I can’t prove it. Even so, they didn’t say anything about it, so I took that as them not having a problem with it."

"90%..." Quinella and Wilfred were speechless.

What an absurd thing to say. A clone that practically reduced an entire generation of geniuses into mere clowns turns out to be a clone that only carried 90% of the main body’s strength. What kind of a miracle is this lord of theirs?

To say that he’s a unique existence throughout the history of humankind might be an understatement.

"Anyway, while the main body does his thing, this is our general setup. Us clones—"

"Clones? You have more?" Quinella almost raised her voice in shock.

"-Yes, clones. There are two more. You’d see them later. Anyway, as I was saying, we clones do the menial labor while the main body takes care of the more important things, ones that don’t require him to go outside too much because so long as he’s alive, he could keep creating us."

"So, to keep up the act, you two will continue to follow me. But I’m going to teach you how to create clones like me so that you can join me in fooling this entire chaos realm. Though I’m not really sure if it will work for you two the way it worked for us. We were created in a different setting, after all."

Quinella and Wilfred were shocked. They didn’t expect this sudden generosity. They understood the value of the skill their lord was trying to teach them. Calling it a life-saving skill would be an understatement because if it truly works the way it’s intended, then there’s not a place in this chaos realm they couldn’t go.

The two of them haven’t even been in this service for long, yet they’re already about to benefit greatly.

While they muse about their gratitude, Cedric’s clone unceremoniously tapped their foreheads and shared the cloning skill with them.

A flood of new information crashed into their mind, but it’s nothing they couldn’t handle. The information was but a drop of water in a pool, unable to create a wave of disturbance. However, the information it contained was truly magnificent.

"Analyze this skill and try it out. Be careful though; this involves your soul. I believe you, as Heavenly Venerates, know the risks with it," the clone reminded them. "Ah, also, try not to spread this skill too much. Run it by me if you’re planning to teach someone, and maybe I’ll think about it."

The bodyguards readily agreed as they processed the new information they just received. Yes, as Heavenly Venerates, they both know the risks of skills that involve the soul, so they will be very careful about this.

This cloning skill involves the laws of creation and soul splitting. It’s essentially creating a copy of themselves that carries a portion of their soul. The clones could only carry about 90% of the main body’s overall strength, but that’s hardly a downside if they were being honest. Especially compared to the security it could provide for them.

It’s no less than a Divine Skill, one that’s enough to be the core of a large sect’s foundation in the Primitive Universe.

As for spreading it to other people, even without Cedric’s warning, they wouldn’t be dumb enough to carelessly spread this skill around. Forget about the fact that they’re practically his slaves; this skill is something that cannot be spread around recklessly. The two of them wouldn’t have lived this long if they didn’t understand some things about the Primitive Universe and life evolution.

Besides, it’s not like they could think of anybody to share this with. Quinella and Wilfred were the last of their bloodline. They were slave orphans bought by the Golden Bangle Bank. They had an opportunity to be their own person way back in the past, yet they still offered their lives to the bank.

And now, they’re sworn to live and die for Cedric. He’s no less than a god to them at this point, so the order he gives to them is more like a heavenly decree they must and will obediently follow.

The clone allowed both of them to retreat for now to analyze the cloning skill. He assured them that he’s not going anywhere out of this realm, so they could make use of the time available.

While that was happening, the main body was busy making last-minute calculations about the placing of the Void Barrier.

All of his care and hard work was for this moment, and he wouldn’t tolerate any accidents. He swore that he would ensure the safety of his family and people, even if he had to fight the Primitive Universe for it. Though, he’d really rather not if he could help it.

Once he was sure that his calculations were correct, he rubbed his palms, closed his eyes, and took deep breaths. He prayed for this to work.

Afterwards, he opened his eyes and released the Void Barrier from his Inner World.

And as luck would have it, the whole place fit like gloves in the spot where he put it. The placement barely released any disturbance; it quite literally appeared out of nowhere but in a way that would almost seem like it’s been there all along.

"Ah, the raw and primal environment of the Primitive Universe. I never thought I’d be here again."

"Thank you for this opportunity, my Lord."

The Void Slave sounded genuinely grateful and excited after being exposed to the environment of the Primitive Universe. The memory of the last time it had been here was so distant that it had almost forgotten about it. Yet now, it was reminded of what it’s like again.

"Any complications that I should know?" Cedric asked.

"None, my Lord. I am where I wanted to be and where I always belonged. It’s like coming home. No discomfort at all, just pure ecstasy. I’m even starting to recover."

The Void Slave, as the consciousness of the Void Barrier, always needed energy to keep running. Back when it was still in the Forbidden Zone, it was barely scraping enough energy to keep running; that place was too barren, and the Void Slave needed to go into an extreme energy-saving mode just to keep functioning as expected.

It’s for this reason that it’s unable to improve the living conditions of the creatures within it. Odin initially wanted to eventually replicate the Primitive Universe within the Void Barrier, but because of the scarcity of energy, the Void Slave was unable to do so.

It could only keep things the way they are, and if some creatures were threatening to break through the barrier, it must initiate a restart, as per Odin’s orders.

This went on for more than a million years until Cedric was born and changed things up.

"That’s good. Follow the plan. Slowly but surely, you’d be integrated into this Sector Domain. One day, you’d be one of its main protectors."

The Void Slave felt immense gratitude for this promise. In its mind, there was no greater gift than the idea of being trusted by his lord to protect everything he cares about. The idea fuels the Void Slave, giving it purpose, one that has been lost to it for so long.

"I won’t fail you, my Lord."
