CHAPTER 115: HEADING OUTSIDE

A few minutes had gone by, and Ethan was completely at a loss.

Unlike Wesley, who could have a wit exchange with Leonard without losing his ground at all, Ethan found himself falling deeper and deeper.

With each sentence and inquiry made by Leonard, the harder he found himself being cornered.

In the end, Ethan finally had enough and relented.

"Very well. If Sir insists on heading out despite multiple warnings, then I can only stand aside." He said with much difficulty, his eyes trailing to Caroline.

Noticing his gaze, Caroline smiled slightly. "I’ve long grown bored with the banquet. This type of atmosphere and setting doesn’t suit me."

"Hah, then do you need any guards to escort you?" Ethan was helpless and suggested she bring some of the guards alongside. She was very valuable and nothing could happen to her.

However, he also couldn’t be forceful and make her accept the guards.

Not even Wesley would attempt such an action, much less him, when the disparity in their status was too wide.

"No need," Caroline rejected the suggestion in a heartbeat. "I don’t like to be followed around by guards. Besides, you wouldn’t think I’m that fragile and weak to be done in by some berserk salves, right?"

"Definitely not!" Ethan said with utmost certainty.

Who knows how many people had fallen into Caroline’s hands due to their underestimation?

He wasn’t foolish enough to underestimate a researcher who was well-versed in many topics and tools.

"Although I wish to leave, it’s regrettable that I couldn’t inform Lord Wesley in advance." Leonard exhaled softly.

"Please do me a favor and relay my gratitude to him for this lovely banquet. I will enjoy his gifts to the maximum."

"Yes, Sir Vincent."

Ethan promptly signaled for the guards to open the doors for them to leave.

"Wait, let me leave too!" The first merchant who made the commotion hurriedly shouted when he noticed Leonard’s group was allowed to leave.

Instantly, Ethan’s expression darkened completely. Earlier, he had no choice but to give ample respect to Leonard’s group because of the unique circumstances.

So how dare someone else try to ride over his head as well?

"Since you’re so desperate to leave without sufficient reason, then I suspect you to be a spy of the Merchant Guild! Men, immediately detain him and commence an extensive interrogation!" Ethan coldly commanded.

"A-A spy??!" Alarmed, the merchant’s face turned ashen white."No, I’m not a spy. I’m just really worried about my merchandise being in jeopardy. The Viscount I’m dealing with isn’t easy to interact with."

"Hoh, you’re that concerned about the merchandise?" Ethan chuckled in amusement. "Now you’re making me curious what sort of merchandise it is."

THUD!

The merchant plopped to the ground. "It’s some precious ornament, crafted and designed specifically by a renowned sculptor. The overall items are worth over 5,000 gold coins."

"Worth over 5,000 gold coins, huh." Ethan nodded his head. "That’s indeed very precious. Rest assured, I’ll have some guards check over your merchandise once the situation is resolved. We’ll make sure everything is sparkly clean."

Almost immediately, the merchant’s eyes turned dizzy.

It was over!

His extreme anxiety had inadvertently caused his merchandise to be investigated.

Soon, white foam began forming in his mouth as he fainted on the spot.

Upon seeing the situation, Ethan’s eyes narrowed in a cold light.

He was merely testing him earlier, but this overreaction made him wonder if the so-called merchandise truly had some problems.

"Form a small group of elite to search the merchant’s accommodation and investigate his merchandise." Ethan swiftly instructed. He then decided to rush to Wesley’s side to inform him of this sudden news.

As things took a drastic turn within the Merchant Guild, Leonard had finally arrived outside.

"Looks like Ethan really wasn’t kidding," Leonard commented, his eyes glancing at the collapsed buildings, with some of them burning brightly.

The scenery itself gave him a sense of deja vu.

"This is just like the capital’s scene." Mirelle suddenly said, her gaze shifting at some large stones that appeared to be stacked on top of a few people.

The capital?

Unknowingly, Mirelle’s unintentional phrase had caused the others to hear a piece of crucial information.

The others were naturally referred to as the Rosalia Troupe and Cheryl.

Leonard naturally noticed the situation, but he was too focused on the berserk slaves to be concerned with other things.

’The berserk slaves that appeared in the capital could most likely be the same thing here.’ He glanced at the destructive scene.

He wanted to search for the clues for the previous loud crashing sound that pierced through the sound formation. But even after searching for a few minutes, he didn’t spot anything suspicious.

Moreover, he couldn’t determine something in their current spot.

The reason why Leonard wished to leave and come outside was to verify whether these berserk slaves held any symptoms of the werewolf that Curtis had captured.

He still vividly recalled the ferocious and bewitched state of the captured werewolf back at the capital. The werewolf appeared to have lost all its rationality, only knowing to search for blood and causing destruction everywhere.

’Just what kind of thing did they consume to be in such a state?’ Leonard furrowed his brows.

Sometime later, a shriek of cry echoed from afar.

The cries were filled with fear and agony.

Alerted, Mirelle wanted to quickly make a move. But she didn’t dare to leave without permission.

She was about to raise her concern when Leonard already gestured with his fingers.

"Go ahead in advance." He lightly said. "I do wish to know what the berserk slaves look like."

"Yes, right away!" Mirelle heeded the command and propelled herself.

She utilized the mana and wind magic to increase her speed tremendously.

Like a zooming rocket, Mirelle had already gone to the source of the outcry.

Shortly after her departure, the female dancers’ expressions tensed up.

Without Mirelle’s presence and passive warding, they were now exposed to the dreadful atmosphere.

"Miss Caroline, do you mind using your Fivefold Isolation Array on the dancers?" Leonard suddenly turned to her and inquired.

"I doubted they would have the energy or the determination to proceed forward. But I couldn’t possibly leave them behind, right?"
