Eternal Emperor's Path to Ascension
Chapter 300: First Great Mortal World
CHAPTER 300: FIRST GREAT MORTAL WORLD
At the same time.
In a deep, dark forest completely drained of vitality, broken trees dotting the ground and a stench of blood filling the air for thousands of miles.
Demonic Energy spread throughout the forest, and occasionally, pained howls could be heard echoing across the land, like the wails of ghosts and gods.
In the midst of it all floated a dark robed figure, cross-legged and constantly absorbing the essence and blood around him, the ground around him piled with the bones of countless Demon Beasts and Demons originally scattered around the forest.
Kong Junyu slowly opened his blood red eyes, exhaling a breath of chaotic Demonic Energy.
His pale face gained a slight luster, torn robes billowing in the eerie winds.
His injuries had already healed at this point by absorbing the blood and essence of many Demon Beasts below the Golden Core Realm and thousands of Demons at the Golden Core Realm and Void Refinement Realm.
The Void Traversal Talisman he previously used was his greatest trump card.
It was obtained from the ruins of a Half Immortal Realm great cultivator’s abode, capable of directly teleporting the user to any random location outside of the Second Great Mortal World as designed by the Half Immortal.
Although Kong Junyu didn’t know exactly where he would be transported, feeling the richness of the Spirit Qi that seemed to be even somewhat denser than the Second Great Mortal World, it didn’t take long for him to figure out that he had arrived in the First Great Mortal World.
"The First Great Mortal World... foremost of the Nine Great Mortal Worlds and the strongest world in the Lower Realm... Perhaps this is the closest I have ever been to the Immortal World."
Kong Junyu muttered, his heart clenching internally as he remembered the scene of Ye Ling’s soul being torn apart and his screams as he was being annihilated.
That was the only true friend he ever had, yet now, he was really no more.
Thinking of this, Kong Junyu’s eyes slightly stung as a wave of Demonic Energy cleared out all traces of the seemingly ordinary particles of dust that had gotten in them.
It was strange. Mundane dust couldn’t even get close to a Innate Realm cultivator, much less a Nascent Soul Realm formidable being like him.
It is said in the legends of the Mortal World that Immortal Gods can even revive the dead, pulling their souls out of reincarnation. Yet, now that Ye Ling’s soul had been obliterated, could he truly revive him even if he became an Immortal God?
This question had gnawed at Kong Junyu’s mind countless times, and each time, he came to a single conclusion.
Even if he couldn’t, he would try everything he could just for the sake of it. A tiny bit of hope is still hope.
If Immortal Gods couldn’t resurrect souls, then he would just have to surpass Immortal Gods!
He had always been cultivating with revenge in his mind, wanting to get as strong as possible just so he could avenge his family one day and maybe see them for one last time living peacefully in another life.
Now, reviving Ye Ling became his second reason for wanting to become stronger.
"However, I have to lay low for a period of time... It would take for the Demon God to conquer the Second Great Mortal World, till then, I’ll be safe as long as I don’t make big splashes here and alert the big powers... but after the Demon God conquers the Second Great Mortal World, he would undoubtedly turn his attention to other Great Mortal Worlds, and there’s a high chance it would be the First Great Mortal World next... Those guys will probably try to find me at all costs. I need to reach the Tribulation Transcendence Realm and ascend to the Upper Realm in this period of time, only then can I survive this calamity."
Since his injuries had now healed, Kong Junyu began to plan for the future.
He naturally did not know about the events that transpired after he was transported away from the Second Great Mortal World. He still thought that the Archaic Forbidden Demon God had been fully revived and was perhaps preparing an army to conquer the entire Mortal World at this moment.
After all, the appearance of Tian Yongheng was something no one would actually expect. It was an extreme case where the Mortal World was in luck, one could say.
Now, from this hypothetical that Kong Junyu derived, he only had a few decades of time left to reach the Tribulation Transcendence Realm and then directly ascend to the Upper Realm.
But to reach the Tribulation Transcendence Realm... he would have to devour the blood and essence of countless beings with powerful cultivation base.
If he cultivated normally, he could only reach that level after thousands or hundreds of years later. But to cultivate fast, he would undoubtedly attract the attention of the forces of the First Great Mortal World...
It was truly a dilemma.
Naturally, the cultivation environment and top tier powerhouses of the First Great Mortal World, although not significantly greater, was still a bit higher than that of the Second Great Mortal World.
The Void Traversal Talisman had already been used by him. Now, he truly had no life saving trump card left.
If he were to really confront a powerful expert of even the Tribulation Transcendence Realm, the chances of winning would be extremely slim, not to mention those top tier beings at the Immortal Ascension and Half Immortal Realms.
"Fortunately, the demonic path and Demon Race in the First Great Mortal World aren’t as suppressed as they were in the Second Great Mortal World."
From the information Kong Junyu had gotten before slaughtering those Demons above the Golden Core Realm, just the demonic path here alone could barely contend with two thirds of the righteous path, and if both the Demon Race and demonic path joined forces, exterminating the righteous path would not be so difficult.
However, even if the Demon Race and demonic path of this world put aside their grievances and formed an alliance, the difficulty lay in the forces behind the righteous path.
After all, no matter which of the Nine Great Mortal Worlds, the major factions of the righteous path were all openly supported by their ancestral Immortal Gods from the Upper Realm.
Truly exterminating even one of them was a task as difficult as ascending to heaven without the intervention of other Upper Realm backed power or machinations of the Heavenly Dao, such as the appearance of a supreme prodigy.
As for the ascended beings from the demonic path and Demon Race...
The former most of the time simply didn’t care. And if they did, they never allowed their descendents or disciples to embark on the path of demonic cultivation.
As for the latter, those few Demon Race forces with Upper Realm ancestry all had good relationships with the righteous path, at most a bit competitive, and they would never tear off this relationship. These forces were almost half the full strength of the Demon Race, and without them, even if the remaining members of the Demon Race and demonic path joined forces, the outcome would remain unclear and might even lead to their annihilation if these few forces decided to aid the righteous path.
So right now, the state of the world was actually quite harmonious, at least on the surface level these Golden Core and Void Refinement Demons could discern.
Each of these 3 great powers, the righteous path, the demonic path, and the Demon Race controlled 3 portions of the world, with territories varying from location to location.
And fortunately, Kong Junyu happened to traverse right between the territory of two Nascent Soul level powers, one a demonic path force and the other a righteous path faction.
As long as he acted cautiously and absorbed the essence and blood of the passing cultivators and Demons, he could slowly raise his cultivation base while shifting the blame to the demonic path simultaneously.
After his cultivation had rose to a certain extent, he would just annihilate these two powers, absorb their members’ essence and blood, and then escape from here. The destruction of two Nascent Soul level powers won’t cause much of a stir in the vast First Great Mortal World, and at most, he would be pursued by some Tribulation Transcendence Realm powerhouses backing these two forces, which he would be confident in escaping from by then.
He would continue to destroy and absorb factions with peak power lesser than his own until he reached the Tribulation Transcendence Realm himself and then finally ascend to the Upper Realm.
At most, he would have to destroy 9 or 10 Nascent Soul level powers for that. This could be done in a few decades.
Kong Junyu quickly comprised a temporary plan for his path forward, secretly making an oath in his heart.
Brother Ye, just wait, your sworn brother will definitely avenge you and destroy those scheming bastards after ascending to the Upper Realm!
...
Several months later.
As the bright sun shone across the sky, an elderly man donning an azure robe, looking weary and tired, with a few strands of white hair falling over his temples, arrived outside the Eternal Peak’s Dao Field.
