CHAPTER 61: CHAPTER 61: THE HEARTLESS ELITE
"Sigh..." The agent sighed, "You should check Weibo. Leng Yichen has commissioned an attorney to issue a statement about the two of you. The statement indicates that Leng Yichen has no ambiguous relationship with you; it’s your ulterior motives trying to ride on his coattails. All the photos were deliberately staged by you and have nothing to do with Leng Yichen. Leng Yichen intends to ruin you; you can’t last in this country..."
Wang Manfei’s body began to tremble. She looked up at the top floor of Huamei International, where Leng Yichen resided. The sunlight reflecting off the glass exterior stung her eyes.
Even now, she couldn’t understand what she had done wrong for Leng Yichen to marginalize her like this.
After all, it is the high society, truly ruthless and cold-hearted...
Wang Manfei laughed miserably, clicking her heels as she left Huamei International.
Bai Yiran was completely stunned upon reaching the garage.
A solid two rows of luxury cars—Bugatti, Pagani, Lamborghini, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Maybach, Ferrari, Mercedes... the cheapest among them being the Range Rover she used to own. Yet, she, just a young girl driving such a large vehicle, seemed quite mismatched.
After picking through them, Bai Yiran found none suitable. While fretting, Wang Hai approached with a set of car keys.
"Ma’am, this is the new car the boss got for you."
"Hmm? What kind of car?" Bai Yiran took the keys and walked outside with Wang Hai, seeing a compact Volvo parked in the courtyard.
"The boss said you might not like the cars in the garage, so he told me to get this Volvo for your daily use. To make sure you feel no pressure, practice your driving first."
Bai Yiran felt a pang of discomfort. It seemed Leng Yichen still looked down on her driving skills.
Nevertheless, Bai Yiran was satisfied with the Volvo, as it wasn’t too flashy and offered more comfort in driving.
In the morning, Bai Yiran went to visit Lou Jing at the hospital. After leaving Lou Jing, Bai Yiran had lunch plans with Cheng Shishi.
When Bai Yiran arrived, Cheng Shishi was engrossed in her phone. Seeing Bai Yiran coming, she eagerly handed her the phone.
"Did you see it, older sis? Brother-in-law issued a statement, saying there’s no relationship with Wang Manfei, and it’s all her deliberate hype!"
Bai Yiran noticed Cheng Shishi had started calling Leng Yichen brother-in-law again.
"Really?" Bai Yiran took the phone and saw that serious statement.
Cheng Shishi pretended to be all serious, remaining skeptical about the statement. "However, I’ve heard that Wang Manfei can’t make it here and plans to try her luck in the United States."
Bai Yiran couldn’t help but feel some sympathy for Wang Manfei; after all, with Leng Yichen’s statement, Wang Manfei was utterly ruined.
Leng Yichen truly did as he said. The next morning, Bai Yiran was already standing in the lobby of Huamei, waiting for Anna, the assistant, to greet her.
Anna soon came down, slightly surprised upon seeing Bai Yiran, but her excellent professionalism allowed her to quickly regain composure, "Hello, Miss Bai, I’m Anna. Mr. Leng instructed me to take you to the human resources department to complete your onboarding process."
Bai Yiran still didn’t know which department she’d be assigned to, so she couldn’t help but ask Anna, "Excuse me, Miss Anna, which department will I be assigned to?"
"Just call me Anna." Although Leng Yichen hadn’t explicitly mentioned Bai Yiran’s identity, Anna, having been his assistant for a long time, was sure Bai Yiran’s identity was extraordinary. However, Mr. Leng specifically instructed her not to give Bai Yiran any special treatment, which puzzled Anna. She still smiled politely at Bai Yiran, "Since you don’t have much work experience, you will be temporarily placed in the Human Resources and Administration Department as an administrative officer, responsible for the company’s administrative tasks."
As expected, it wasn’t an important position, Bai Yiran thought so.
