Exclusive Love: Pampered by the Scheming Tycoon
Chapter 208: Angered Him
CHAPTER 208: CHAPTER 208: ANGERED HIM
Strictly speaking, she hadn’t known Huo Yanting for long. They’d only slept together a few times. Perhaps liking him wasn’t even in the picture; it was nothing more than an exchange of interests, let alone love.
Lin Banxia had agreed to the arrangement back then just because he’d promised not to touch the pear garden.
Now, she had obtained the safety guarantee agreement for the pear garden through Old Sir Huo. So, her relationship with Huo Yanting ought to end here, hadn’t it?
"Banxia..." She was lost in thought when a low, magnetic voice suddenly called out to her.
She stiffly turned her head and saw the man, dressed in a formal black suit, walking straight towards her with an upright posture.
The frustration weighing on Lin Banxia’s heart inexplicably grew heavier.
"Where are you going?" she asked, feigning ignorance.
Huo Yanting responded indifferently, "My grandfather has something to discuss with me. I’ll head over to see him first. Wait for me after work—we’ll go out for dinner tonight."
"Huo Yanting..." Lin Banxia suddenly called his name, addressing him not as "husband," which she had gotten used to saying all this time.
Huo Yanting’s brows instinctively furrowed in displeasure, his tone dangerous: "What did you just call me?"
Not daring to meet his gaze, Lin Banxia lowered her head almost to the point where her chin touched her chest.
"It’s nothing. I just suddenly thought your name... sounds really nice." Lin Banxia forced a cheerful smile to conceal the sorrow she felt inside.
"Really? Then from now on, stop calling me ’husband.’ Call me by my name!" Huo Yanting seemed to be placated and promptly granted her request with ease.
Lin Banxia raised her eyes and stared at him blankly, only to see his spirited, confident figure disappear promptly behind the closing elevator doors.
A sudden wave of bitterness surged, and Lin Banxia tilted her head back, trying to stop the tears welling in her eyes from spilling over.
"Huo Yanting, you really are a fool. You even give me permission to call your name... I’m afraid that soon, I won’t even have the right to do so," she murmured to herself, smirking in bitter self-mockery. Then, she decided to leave the office right away, head home, and start packing her things—waiting for the inevitable judgment.
Sitting in the taxi, Lin Banxia hadn’t yet reached home when Huo Yanting’s call came through.
Her heart seized violently. Staring at the buzzing phone, she didn’t even dare to pick up.
"Miss, your phone is ringing..." The taxi driver helpfully reminded her, assuming she hadn’t noticed.
Lin Banxia replied listlessly, "It’s fine—let it ring."
The phone rang incessantly, lasting nearly several minutes. Huo Yanting didn’t seem willing to give up, bombarding her with call after call.
"Driver, please pull over!" Feeling embarrassed, Lin Banxia hurriedly asked the driver to stop. She grabbed her phone and stepped out of the taxi.
At that moment, the phone rang again.
Sighing in resignation, Lin Banxia clutched the phone, walked to a nearby bench, sat down, and answered the call.
"Lin Banxia, where are you?" Huo Yanting’s voice thundered angrily on the other end of the line.
"So, you already know?" Lin Banxia said with a hint of self-deprecation.
"You want to divorce me?"
"Yes!"
"I don’t agree! The agreement clearly states we can only divorce after three years!" Huo Yanting, evidently enraged, reminded her coldly.
"Huo Yanting, I only agreed to sign the agreement back then to protect the pear garden. Now, your grandfather has already made a promise to me. Naturally, our agreement is null and void," Lin Banxia said weakly.
"Void? No one has the right to nullify it—I won’t agree to divorce!" Huo Yanting was practically furious. This woman had the audacity to secretly secure a protection agreement with his grandfather and then try to force him into agreeing to divorce. Was there such a thing as a free lunch in this world?
