CHAPTER 140: CHAPTER 140 FIND A BETTER ONE (2)
"Ah, I knew it, he’s still on my side." Liu Da Niu sighed.
The Great Princess walked over, "Da Niu, just because of this one sentence, you’re going back? All the grievances you suffered before, are for nothing?"
Liu Da Niu looked at her, full of worry, "We are married."
The Great Princess was speechless, "What good is he even if he’s nice? He can’t watch over you all the time. Once he leaves, what if his mother hits you again?"
"I..." Liu Da Niu couldn’t come up with a solution for a moment and was at a loss for words.
The usually tongue-tied Second Princess couldn’t hold back and interjected, "Da Niu, I want to learn how to make dried cakes and fruits, can you teach me?"
This sudden request left Liu Da Niu stunned for a moment.
Li Yuzhu’s eyes glimmered and he said to Liu Laoda, "This is my second sister, she’s been wanting to learn how to make dried cakes and fruits. Da Niu couldn’t stay conveniently at her parents’ house for the time being and can’t return to Hu’s house immediately. Why not come to our house first? We’ll provide her meals and ensure she won’t go hungry, and it’ll also help her avoid gossip."
After Liu Da Niu came back, some villagers occasionally peeked in front of Liu’s house.
Lady Liu, who was furious and cursing the Hu Family yesterday, lamenting how she felt distressed for her daughter, immediately regretted what she said upon seeing the villagers’ expressions today.
She didn’t want her daughter to live at home permanently.
When Li Yuzhu suggested it, she responded, "That would be great, though it might trouble your family."
Li Yuzhu replied, "It won’t be a bother."
Liu Da Niu was feeling troubled without knowing what to do next, and Li Yuzhu gave her a suggestion, causing a great relief to her heart.
The Great Princess was naturally satisfied with this idea and urged, "Then let’s go? My second sister is eager to learn."
The Second Princess blinked, wanting to say "I’m not in a hurry to learn."
She was frightened into silence by the Great Princess’s stern glare.
Thus, Liu Da Niu followed Li Yuzhu and his siblings to the Li Family’s new house.
Liu Laoda and his wife argued again after they left.
The villagers interested in the spectacle were not as many as in the morning.
Since Liu Da Niu wasn’t there, people speculated that she had returned to the Hu Family’s house again.
If she’s back at Hu’s house, what more spectacle is there to see?
They dispersed.
.
When Li Yuzhu and the others left with Liu Da Niu, Hu Shuangcheng, whose leg had regained sensation, also returned to Qinghe Village.
He entered and loudly called his mother.
"Mother?"
Hu Niangzi came out of the bedroom, holding her five-year-old grandson, and with a cold face, said, "You’ve scared Bao’er. Why are you yelling so loudly?"
Hu Niangzi gave birth to a daughter and a son. Her daughter bore numerous children, one after another, after marrying into her husband’s family—five children in total—delighting her husband’s family.
Yet the wife her son married was like a hen that wouldn’t lay eggs, which greatly upset her.
She felt that her daughter-in-law had disgraced her.
"What’s the matter with Da Niu’s arm?" Hu Shuangcheng asked with a stern look.
Hu Niangzi’s face looked embarrassed, "She twisted it herself. Didn’t I tell you?"
"But the doctor said, her arm isn’t twisted, it’s broken!" Hu Shuangcheng noticed his mother’s eyes flickering, clearly lying, and felt extremely upset.
Did his own mother really deceive him?
"Which doctor is spouting nonsense? The doctor I took her to clearly said it’s twisted, and it’ll heal in a few days." Hu Niangzi soothed her grandson and said impatiently.
Hu Shuangcheng shook his head, "A sprain heals in two or three days, but her arm hasn’t healed and has become swollen. It’s obviously broken!"
Hu Niangzi was annoyed, "Did you go to Liu’s house to find her? Did she tell you this herself? She’s just a seductress! Making you listen to her whims, reluctant to cook meals, refusing to look after your sister’s kids! Always acting like a princess, what is she? Pah! Not a single child borne, yet she acts high and mighty!"
Hu Shuangcheng felt uneasy listening to this and turned to leave.
"Hey, son, where are you going? You need to bring Da Niu back. There’s no one to cook at home. Your sister will be back to pick Bao’er up tonight. Who’s going to cook dinner?"
Hu Shuangcheng didn’t respond, just lowered his head and left.
Of course, he went back to Liu’s house.
Liu Laoda picked up a broom and swung it at him.
Though Hu Shuangcheng was displeased with being beaten by his father-in-law, he argued with Liu Laoda but didn’t fight back.
"Even if my mother is wrong, as a junior, she shouldn’t argue with her." Hu Shuangcheng said.
"Get out! Out, out, out!" Liu Laoda didn’t want to talk to him anymore or see him and chased him away.
Lady Liu wanted to intervene but was sent to the bedroom by Liu Laoda, who also closed the door.
"Father, I want to talk to Da Niu. She has opinions about my mother, so I’ll talk to her." Hu Shuangcheng stood at the door of Liu Family’s main house, unwilling to leave.
Liu Laoda sneered, "Are you still asking Da Niu? She’s upset and angry, doesn’t even know where she ran off to. My family is still looking for her, and you come asking me? I haven’t asked you yet, my daughter married you in good health, and now she’s broken her arm and disappeared. Tell me, where is she? If you don’t find her, I’ll tear off Hu Family’s roof."
Hu Shuangcheng’s face changed, "Da Niu isn’t home?"
"If she were home, wouldn’t she come out and curse you a bit? You’ve been here for so long, have you heard her voice?" Liu Laoda sneered.
Indeed, he hadn’t heard anything.
Hu Shuangcheng couldn’t help but panic.
Oh no, did Da Niu run away in anger?
"I... I’ll go find her." Hu Shuangcheng turned and left.
Liu Laoda was delighted now, thinking the idea of Li Family taking Da Niu was truly brilliant just to scare Hu Family.
He ran into the house and called Lady Liu, "Big Girl’s Mother, quickly pack some clothes and send them to Li Family. Tell Da Niu not to come home tonight."
.
Hu Shuangcheng searched several of Liu’s family relatives but all said they hadn’t seen Liu Da Niu.
Some mean relatives even scolded Hu Shuangcheng, ’Not knowing your wife’s whereabouts and then asking others?’
The scolding left Hu Shuangcheng deeply ashamed.
Unable to find her, he had to return home.
Hu Niangzi, however, was scolding, "If you can’t find her, don’t bother. I’ll find you someone better."
.
Li Yuzhu and his siblings brought Liu Da Niu back to the bamboo house in the new estate, and shortly after, Liu Er Niu came with some clothes.
Liu Da Niu asked in surprise, "Why did you bring clothes? I wasn’t planning not to return by nightfall."
Liu Er Niu relayed Liu Laoda’s instructions, "Father said, we’d trouble Li Family to take care of sister for a few nights." Then she recounted the afternoon’s altercation between Hu Shuangcheng and Liu Laoda.
Liu Da Niu felt even more frustrated, "Why did it escalate into an argument?"
Li Yuzhu, however, smiled, "Uncle Liu’s idea is good. Da Niu should stay with us for a while and not show up. Uncle Liu will go demand you from Hu Family. When Hu Family can’t find you, they’ll start to worry."
