Extra’s Path To Demon King
Chapter 209: A very bad idea!
Chapter 209: A very bad idea!
Heinz instantly cast a spell that created a defensive shield using mana attributes and empowered it with Sage force. The shield cracked continuously, but the natural mana from the surroundings poured into the spell automatically. Constantly repairing it.
While the shield protected him, he was preparing another spell. But suddenly, the siege arrows, which had stopped firing for a while because of their ineffectiveness, began firing again. Two siege arrows were fired one after another with barely a one-second difference in time. Heinz couldn’t see the fired siege arrows until they were close to the fortress and crashed onto the magic shield; he only heard the two sounds of the siege machines firing.
But his enemies suddenly stopped for a moment; they had a look of shock on their faces, and seeing that, he immediately understood. They had started; Heinz activated his title with a grin.
[Your title ‘Sage of Ashen Embers’ has been activated.]
[You are now in control of the compound element “Ash”]
[Your Sage force is now attributed with the compound element of ‘Ash’; all natural mana used by your Sage force will also have the “Ash” element attributed to it.]
Heinz, using that opportunity of momentary distraction by his enemies, cast one of the elemental spells with the fastest speed possible; he uttered like a whisper, “Magic missiles.”
The most common and perhaps useless spell in an actual battle, now attributed to Ash and Sage force, became something far more potent than what it was supposed to be. At first, mana in the surroundings came together and clustered into an Ash-like ball right beside him. Another, and another, and another, and another, and another, as the numbers increased astronomically.
1….3….10…20….30…..50…….80……..100
Soon, hundreds of Ash-like flickering balls gathered all around him, and this happened in just a few seconds as they got distracted by the coming siege arrows. Before they could completely recover from the shock, all 100 small ashen magic missiles shot at every single enemy.
The enemy Seekers defended themselves by using their shields or cutting at them with their swords. But the powerful impact of it pushed them backward. And that was not all; it was more than just that. The now broken-apart magic missiles spread around the enemies like a fog made of ash, and it slowly started to cover the entire area, going through the lungs of the Seekers and invading their bodies.
Their refined mana resisted against it, but the ash was doing its job; it stopped them from using their energies smoothly. As they breathed in more and more, all of them started to cough. At first, they continued to attack, but eventually, they were unable to do so. But how could defeating hundreds of Seekers on your own level be that simple?
They would soon figure out how to expel the ash from their systems, but using that opportunity, he fired one powerful attack after another, eliminating as many of them as he could. Another problem using this was that even his own division members were being affected by the spreading fog of Ash. And for reasons like this, he didn’t want to use this. Or the sage aspect in general; he wasn’t that good at it yet.
Meanwhile, Ken Dusker, who was on the backside of Heinz’s division, looked high up; apart from the select individuals by the Valkyrie, the plan, whatever they make, is not shared with any of them. But as usual, no one has the guts to question her overwhelming authority and power in the gold section.
As someone unaware of the plans, when he looked up, he was shocked; the first siege arrow fired had a rope tied to it, and a person was holding onto that rope barely and kept screaming. It was his cousin, Lucien, and just behind it, another siege arrow followed; similarly, a long rope was tied to it. This time, it was Axel Nomrad hanging onto it as the arrow shot through the air.
His mind became so infuriatingly enraged at the sight of that bastard and the words spoken to him at that time. Someone from the front pushed him back as the Ashen fog released by the spells of Heinz began to spread even in their area. He gritted his teeth and glared venomously at Heinz Gil as well. But he was helpless, powerless to do anything to that blue-haired wretched bastard and his fucking commoner friend.
His cousins, who should have helped him regardless, turned a blind eye to his situation. Even without him saying anything to Lucien personally, the prince likely knew something was going on with him, considering how observant and cunning his cousin was. But he never once mentioned if anything was wrong or if he was okay. And he used to be the one to protect them when they were young.
Jaden, who was on the top floor, looked on in horror as Lucien Suncrest and Axel Nomrad were hanging onto the siege arrows flying through the air at an insane speed; he could not help but curse, “Have these bastards lost their damn minds?”
He once thought of the possibility that they might do something like this, but to think they actually did it, do these bastards not fear death? Coming at that high speed, they would crash into the mana wall conjured by them. The professors obviously wouldn’t let them die, but usually, they would be turned into a meat paste for crashing into the mana wall at that insane speed.
He massaged his temples in frustration, that runecaster bastard must have prepared some damn artifact for this situation again. Since when could rune casters literally do anything and everything, creating solutions for almost every problem in every situation?
Axel, who was gliding through the air, barely hanging onto his dear life, holding the rope, cursed continuously at his own stupid idea, “Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck FUCK…….”
But his words were drowned out by the immense friction of the wind; he could barely breathe at that moment. The speed of the siege arrow was too damn high; it really did feel like hanging onto an airplane’s tail, like in the mission impossible movies, except for the fact that he actually felt like dying.
It was one thing to engage in such world-destroying activities in the trial world, but here, his body wasn’t strong enough or ready enough to handle such extreme activities; his instincts screamed at him in danger. But gritting his teeth, he ignored those sensations and focused on the goal. Lucien was cursing even loudly slightly at the front. Yup, even his damn dragon blood protested against doing such an outrageous thing at this level.
If it were anyone else doing this, they would have lost consciousness already, unable to handle the pressure generated on their bodies from traveling at such high speeds and wind resistance affecting their bodies.
Letting out a low grunt, his runic eyes manifested fully for a fraction of a second as he analyzed the current distance from the hexagonal mana-made shield, dome, or wall, whatever you want to call it. He also scanned the entire spell construct of it, how it was functioning at its core, its effects, and its weaknesses. Everything was analyzed in that instant.
He shouted with all of his might, “LUCIEN?”
The dragon prince’s ears registered his words, and with an immense effort, he looked backward at him with a hateful glare. Yup, the guy regretted this just as much as he did.
But without paying any heed to that, he shouted again, “LET GO OF THE ROPE WHEN I SAY IT.”
