Chapter 210: Extreme Mana Control

Lucien winced from what he could understand but nodded with a curse in the end and looked forward. Silently waiting for his signal to let go of the rope and preparing himself mentally, he might die from this shit; he did feel like dying already.

Axel sighed and made some mental calculations again, the time and distance when would be the right time to let go of the rope, because if they did continue to hold onto it, then crash onto the mana dome, they were both guaranteed to be turned into a mush of blood and flesh without a doubt. His mind did more calculations at lightning speed on the best way to break through the mana-made hexagonal dome.

Jaden would likely think that Axel had prepared some special artifacts to break that spell construct and prepare some countermeasures on that note, but sadly, no. No amount of effort would work to stop because his runic eyes were something that could see through all kinds of spells and magic in general, at least when they were manifested. In their passive form, they remain much less effective, unfortunately.

In just a few seconds, he had already identified the weak spot and was ready.

Then, just at the moment when they were at the perfect distance, he shouted at Lucien with all of his might, “LUCIEN, NOW……”

Just as his words registered in Lucien’s mind, he immediately let go of the rope, disregarding his dragon instincts, screaming at him to do the opposite and not let go of the rope no matter what. The speed of his gliding through the air decreased tremendously as he cast some spells to increase the wind resistance on his body.

Axel himself did the same, but since he couldn’t perform any spells, he had made artifacts in advance for that scenario as the magic tool did its job. However, they had to ensure that their speed didn’t decrease too much; otherwise, they would fall into the water and fail to reach the fortress.

The siege arrows both crashed onto the hexagonal mana-made dome. However, they fell off, unable to cause any permanent damage, as usual. Just as the siege arrows fell off, not long after they were about to crash onto the dome, a hand fan-like artifact appeared on both of their hands. Violently swinging the fan, it generated a heavy wave of wind pressure, which generated a backward force, stopping them from crashing into the mana dome with too much speed.

The fan disappeared simultaneously, and a glove appeared on both of their right hands. Using that, they stuck onto the wall of the dome. Lucien cursed aloud,

“I’m never listening to your shitty ideas ever again, ever.”

Axel wanted to rebuke, but in the end, he closed his mouth, not finding anything right to say in response to his comment. His eyes went towards the sharpshooters on the top floor, and in particular, his eyes directly met those of Jaden. The enemy commander glared at him with immense rage.

Lucien commented leisurely, “Damn, he seems to hate you a lot?”

Axel’s eyebrows twitched; he looked at the prince and said to him with a sneer,

“Should you be saying that when this guy knocked you out with a siege arrow at the very last minute?”

Lucien’s expression turned serious as his bloodlust leaked out as if being reminded of an old wound; he declared,

“That bastard is mine; you take off the small fries.”

Axel proceeded to ignore both of the morons and start working on breaking the mana dome. His crystalline mana emanated from the nexus core, spreading to the surroundings. The small, crystal-like glitz in his mana melted down. His energy began to take the shape of small, indiscernible, fine threads.

Magical Spells and their constructs at their core were like woven clothes; there were countless small gaps in them, each node performing a function for the entire humongous working spell. Axel created countless threads in just a few seconds. He didn’t have much time; he could already tell the 100 sharpshooters who were keeping the spell active, making changes to it, to shake them off.

Lucien stared at the scene of him controlling the mana so efficiently and intricately, feeling a mix of amazement and stunned surprise. He had only seen that level of masterful mana control done by Sophia, though hers was even a notch higher than Axel’s control from what he could see. For a moment, a sense of inferiority crept into his mind, but his dragon bloodline instantly crushed any sense of doubt in him. He snorted,

‘If I wanted, I could do that as well.’

As for whether those words of his were actually the truth or simply a lie to make himself feel better, no one knew.

Axel’s energy moved faster and faster as his controlled mana-made threads started to seep into the intricately woven spell of the mana dome, targeting specific nodes one after the other. The mana dome was made out of countless hexagonal-shaped mana shields woven together into something gigantic. This was so that if one part were damaged, it would not affect the other parts.

But this would work against them this time, Axel grinned and focused on permanently damaging the magic spells, few selected hexagon shapes right under them. His mana threads began to affect and destroy the nodes comprising those few hexagons beautifully, and it was finally done.

As the few hexagons of the dome that they were holding onto broke apart like glass, their figures began to fall right on top of the fortress, right on that cue, as if ready for just that. Jaden attacked both of them, but they both easily blocked the attack while falling.

Jaden rushed towards Axel in a mad fury, ready to defeat him no matter what it took. The fortifiers also stopped maintaining the mana dome and concentrated on attacking the two intruders at Jaden’s orders.

But before Axel could block the incoming attack of his enemy, Lucien blocked it for him and said again, “I’ll handle him and the rest. Just go and break the flag pole.”

Axel sneered, “You say it as if they would let me do that without eliminating the sharpshooters?”

But Lucien had already engaged with his enemy, he sighed and cracked his knuckles, and got ready to face the sharpshooters coming at him, his eyes darted around inspecting every little details and counting the number of designated Seekers ordered to fight him. It seems Jaden had commanded 70 of them to go for him, taking the 30 others to fight Lucien.

Sigh, but the guy was underestimating Lucien this time. But looking at the grinning Lucien and the sour face of Jaden, it seems Lucien is going to take his sweet time beating the shit out of the poor guy. He sighed and brought out the blue thunder sword, and then, with a single swing of it. A large arc of blue lightning shot out as he engaged with his enemies.

Meanwhile, Jaden shouted at Lucien, “Get out of the way, I must deal with that damn bastard.”

Lucien sneered, “Well, unfortunately, I have to beat the shit out of you. First; you think I’ll let you go after you threw a goddamn siege arrow right at my face at the last moment of the battle.”

Jaden had a sour expression on his face as he saw Axel engage with 70 sharpshooters using that same blue lightning sword. He gritted his teeth and ordered through the telepathic band. His orders reached the 2nd division leader, who was right behind the shock troops; they were now rendered ineffective for the moment because of Heinz’s use of the Ash element.

[Do it, cut the damn bridge.]
