Chapter 255: Fairy of Silver Light

Even when various powerful Seekers employed unpleasant methods on Ken, his statements remained unchanged; he was 100% sincere and speaking the truth from his own perspective, stating that he had no memory or recollection of entering the forest with 20 of his friends. Ken himself was utterly horrified by the whole damn situation. It was downright unsettling for him.

He was repeatedly asked about an event he had no recollection of; sometimes the questions were asked politely, while at other times they were not. The 20 pro-noble heirs he was closest to had all died, in one single night, and they were saying he was with them, entered the forest together.

But somehow, he was the only one who had survived. Then, what had happened just a day ago, popped into his head, as if he were the student being called roll. The lingering sensation of boundless terror washed over every fiber of his being right after opening his eyes.

He told the professor this information out of his own volition as soon as he was able to link the incidents, which scared Ken even more, perhaps. The fact that he possibly survived something terrifying, when all of his friends died in it. He was naturally happy to be alive; he couldn’t care less about the lives of others at that moment. Too worried and glad about his survival, forgetting about everything else.

Again, when he was asked about how his magic card was there in a bag alongside 20 others, he could only respond helplessly with the same answer; he had no memory of such a thing happening. This piece of information put all the academy authorities under intense pressure; they could no longer deny it.

Then they proceeded to question Axel, as he had gone into the forest around the same time, he could have met them. However, it was another dead end in the investigation of the professors. However, he was also a suspect in another matter. The professors questioned him, knowing that he was the only possible student who could have created something like that—the pouch, which interfered with the very signal of the magic cards used by the students.

But again, Axel answered them truthfully that he had never made any such thing, nor did he meet the 20 or Ken Dusker. The truth-identifying spells also registered his words as the truth. So, they had no choice but to let go of both Axel and Ken. However, Ken had to endure much more severe situations and was released much later, after Gareth had gathered all the information he could from him.

And Ken Dusker was scared as hell just from seeing the face of forger Gareth. Considering the powerful Seeker didn’t even bother to entertain even the first prince, who their very king favored.

Lucien asked with a trace of worry, “Are you sure about this?”

Lumina nodded dryly, being unusually cold to her brother, who had been strange for a while and barely paid any attention to her. Still, she also understood her brother’s situation and sympathized with it. After all, she didn’t like Sophia’s unusual interest in Axel either. But neither of the two could do anything about it.

Lucien said in a serious tone, “You know I really don’t trust him; he definitely harbors hate against the royal family.”

Lumina listened without reacting and revealed, “I know, but I also know that he doesn’t have any negative intentions against me. I wanted Axel to stay beside me when testing this, but he said it would be inappropriate, that I should keep you by my side when testing it.”

Lucien frowned at that statement, but not wanting to start an argument with his sister, he diverted the conversation to something else: “The backlash is going to be quite severe afterward, am I right?”

Lumina nodded, “Yes, equally to the boost of power.”

With a mental command, the rune necklace that Axel made for Lumina appeared on her neck. The keychain was something like a mix of Gold and Silver. It looked like a mesmerizing hue of stardust and the deep blue glittering sapphire. There were no runes engraved on that gemstone. But there were tiny pseudo runes engraved all over the body of the starry keychain of the necklace. Despite being a runecaster herself, Lumina did not understand how Axel could do such a complex thing.

It was not just beautiful to look at; even its name was stunning: the starlight necklace.

As her eyes scanned the stats of the tool displayed by Prime Nexus, despite her seeing it multiple times, she could not help but widen her eyes, seeing the boost in power in various categories as well as the severe backlash of it. And both of the prospects scared her dearly. But Axel had asked her specifically to test it out; she couldn’t dare say no to him or reveal that she was afraid of trying it.

She walked forward to the center of the large training room, which they had rented for an hour, so no one else was there but the two of them. Reaching the center, she finally pushed all of her mana into the necklace-like artifact. The starlight necklace began to devour her mana like a bottomless pit; she and the runes started to glow in a glittering silver light on the kechain, contrasting with the golden silver color of the kechain itself.

Lucien stared at the scene, a trace of visible worry for his sister visible on his face. He knew she was head over heels for Axel Nomrad, something he abhorred at this point. He didn’t even know what backlash she would receive as a side effect of using the potent tool. After all, He had also suffered from a backlash for using the runic weapon made by Axel Nomrad, but the backlash of it was relatively minuscule.

As he watched, the starlight necklace began to glow more and more in a complex pattern of various lights; he had to admit that the thing looked breathtaking. Something from which he wasn’t able to move his eyes away. The power radiating from Lumina also started to increase steadily without stopping. Lucien became more worried; Lumina’s power seemed to be growing exponentially with each passing second. Until it eventually crossed the threshold, her power of the first phase transitioned into the second, yet the power continued to increase.

The various colors of lights radiating from the necklace started to transform to pure silver. Until the silvery light became so blinding that Lucien had to close his eyes, the power emanating from Lumina reached the mid-stage of the 2nd phase, as an overwhelming pressure spread from all around her. The 4th prince had stepped back, sensing danger; even his dragon instincts screamed at him. Forcing him to be alert and ready to fight if necessary.

Slowly, the blinding silver light receded, and Lucien opened his eyes. What he saw left him baffled in every possible way, and the power radiating from his own sister had reached a devastatingly dangerous level. Lumina’s hair and clothes had all turned completely silver. She looked divinely beautiful, almost unreal, as if she were a silver fairy manifested from some fairy tale. There were four silver, fairy-like wings behind her back.

Lucien felt as though he was staring at the purest and holiest being in the entire universe. He had an urge to let go of all his worries and bathe in that silver light, to sleep, to close his eyes and rest.

The sense of serene peace radiating from her entire figure was too addictive for him, who knew nothing but caution from the time he was a toddler. He wanted to let go of that burden and rest, without a single shred of worry; his sister would protect him, yes, she would. Even if it was just for five minutes, he just….wanted to rest, to genuinely bathe in that embrace of peace.

However, something seems to fight against that overwhelming desire for peace, to rest, to let go, to be free. Out of nowhere, the sound of a mighty dragon’s roar resounded in his mind, filled with wrath, pride, and unmatched arrogance, promising tales of boundless destruction to any being that dares to defy it, to manipulate it, or go against it. Lucien’s eyes took on a dangerous gleam as he looked at his own younger sister, who was now in a complete silver form. He broke out of the seeping influence that had encroached on his mind.

But his sister started to walk closer to him, looking at him with a trace of pity. The overwhelming influence of her peace began to break down his iron will once more. The dragon blood started to generate heat in Lucien’s body. But it surprisingly fell short against the influence of absolute peace radiating from Lumina. The silver radiance was just too potent. Lumina’s Iris had also taken on a silver hue from the light red characteristic color of the Suncrest royal family.

Lumina walked closer and closer until she stood right in front of her brother, who seemed to be going through a severe internal struggle. She placed both of her hands on the cheeks of her brother, then hugged him. A shudder ran through every cell of Lucien. His dragon had been entirely suppressed. Lumina uttered in a consoling voice,

“It’s okay, brother, it’s OK, you can rest. I know you have protected me since we were young, and you have defended yourself as well. From the countless times you were pushed to the edge of death. Constantly remaining vigilant every single second at that manmade hell named the royal palace, the hell we were both born in.”

“One day, I will become strong, strong enough to be of use, one day, I shall become Powerful than you. And have sufficient power to protect you just like you protected me all your life, and that is a promise.”

“But alas! that’s still too far away, so for now, just for one minute, rest and let go. Let go of all of your burden, then you can have it right back as well.”
