Extraordinary Voyage
Chapter 58: The Night Before the Celebration
CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 58: THE NIGHT BEFORE THE CELEBRATION
"Prophet" is the profession that perfectly fits his envisioned image of a sage who plans within the command tent and wins battles from afar, completely different from the martial combat system extraordinaries who only engage in fights.
However, although this profession doesn’t place much emphasis on the accumulation of knowledge, the Wizard’s innate spiritual talent required is considered quite demanding!
In fact, the level division of prophets is not as stringent as other extraordinary paths; even the most ordinary Divination Master can make great prophecies affecting the world’s structure if unexpectedly favored by destiny.
Historically, there have been more than one instance where a seemingly insignificant person made an astonishing prophecy overnight and quickly became the guest of honor among various countries’ governmental figures.
It’s fair to say this profession relies even more on talent than a Sniper Musketeer does, after all, techniques can be honed through practice, but how can one train their talent?
"Do I really have to follow the Knight’s Path like my big brother? However, I still feel that the elegant and mysterious prophet would be more favored by girls; I definitely don’t want to become a muscular bull!"
"Great Eye of All-Seeing, what should I do?"
Perhaps "Zorro" should be thankful that "Eye of All-Seeing" isn’t an independent-minded divine persona; otherwise, if it finds out that this guy wants to be a prophet just to attract girls, maybe "Zorro" would no longer need to have such worries in the future, in every sense.
...
It was already the second half of the night, with dark clouds unknowingly rising to obscure the last traces of moonlight. Looking ahead, the sea appeared as a deep and heavy abyss, becoming the true Black Sea.
The landmark building on Lighthouse Island, the "Great Lighthouse," had long been illuminated, casting hopeful golden light onto the sea, guiding ships for centuries just as it had yesterday.
"Boss, tomorrow’s the celebration day; there likely won’t be any more ships coming this late. We’ll just watch from here; you should rest." Gary approached Aiven, who was standing on the dock in a long coat, leaning on his sword’s hilt, and whispered.
Even though it’s not winter, this place is far from the land, and the damp cold sea breeze kept coming, seemingly trying to draw out warmth from people’s bones, indeed causing some discomfort.
"No need, when you’re worthy enough to handle things independently, say those words."
He unhesitatingly dismissed Gary’s good intentions, earning some awkward laughter in return.
Aiven knew very well that such large-scale celebrations involving thousands of participants could not be taken lightly. Tomorrow is the celebration day; should anything go wrong tonight, this responsibility is beyond his ability to bear.
The more he steps into the circle of extraordinaries, the more Aiven understands the turbulent picture of the Dark Side of the World.
Demonized Creatures, Sea Monsters, uncontrolled extraordinaries, and even hostile national forces and hidden, scheming Evil God sects are all enemies of the Order World.
Ordinary people facing these peculiarities are simply too vulnerable, akin to dimensional reduction attacks, destroying you as if you were irrelevant!
Especially after Aiven completed his extraordinary transformation, Gel gave him an extensive knowledge of the extraordinary world.
Imparting all the knowledge acquired over decades, whether through official channels or personal adventures, to Aiven without any reservations, Gel could be said to be a very competent uncle, even better than Aiven’s father in this aspect.
"A world where fiends dance!"
In his tale, Phaletis Kingdom faced multiple "natural disasters" causing great casualties in history, which originated from disputes in the extraordinary world; only for the sake of stability in the secular world were they suppressed and hidden by the government and church jointly.
And those "accidental incidents" of smaller scale and lesser severity were countless.
Especially those annual celebrations with a large number of participants that leave traces, those events have always been the pieces favored by hidden ambitious manipulators.
Whether for profit, to please gods, or simply for entertainment, numerous lives are merely numbers to them.
Moreover, in this bizarre and chaotic world of extraordinaries, what is never lacking is ambitious individuals and lunatics, and chaos itself even serves as a power source for certain evil existences, demanding utmost vigilance!
"Huh, is a ship coming at this time?"
Suddenly, Aiven’s eyes widened.
A two-masted merchant ship of significant size broke through waves from afar, slowly heading towards the dock of Lighthouse Island.
...
The prelude activities held in advance have already continued for three days, and although tomorrow is the official celebration day, it doesn’t stop many people from staying up all night tonight.
A rare celebration day.
Shrewd merchants from throughout the kingdom have already spotted the business opportunity, bringing all conceivable entertainment projects to this place; anything found on land proves ubiquitous here.
Theaters, pubs, casinos, pink establishments... a dazzling array.
Thanks to the enormous flow of people and the high demand for entertainment during the celebration, in just a few days, the owners of entertainment venues have profited tremendously.
Quite naturally.
Accompanied by the bright lights, along with the Golden Lion and Silver Bull, there’s never a shortage of vibrant social groups!
Bang——
"You ***....."
Following some coarse remarks mixed with local dialect slang, two tattooed heads embellished with metal rings promising a bad character crashed together and fell unconsciously.
A cloaked figure clapped hands, paused slightly, then swiftly darted onto a low wall, disappearing within the stretch of temporary buildings.
"All petty theft with no third-rate characters daring to brandish knives for a robbery, when did the kingdom’s public security become this good?"
This eccentric figure who roams around in bizarre attire at night, not sleeping, is none other than our old friend "Zorro."
After days of finding no leads on his advancement path, extreme inactivity drew him out, donning his special attire to play a heroic thief, upholding justice for the masses.
The prior engagement only involved two petty thieves splitting their spoils; for a Peak Apprentice Knight, this posed no difficulty at all.
His father, being a Navy Vice Admiral, naturally left "Zorro" with no shortage of heritage and resources.
And as a Wizard of the Prophetic School, "Zorro" profoundly understands the fickleness of destiny, struggling to progress on the path of a Wizard while advancing swiftly on the discarded Knight’s Path, becoming a Peak Apprentice at a young age.
PS: Swordsmanship Teacher: "Blame me, huh?"
His formidable skills paired with "Prophetic School’s" superb investigation witchcraft adeptly turned him into an efficient evil-sweeping machine, contributing significantly to the kingdom’s public security efforts.
Hence, some might verbally express disdain, but their actions betray them; Mr. "Zorro" is clearly enjoying it...
"Move quickly, fellows! We need to reach the dock in advance to receive the goods."
"But, boss...celebration... manpower...."
"Damn it, must I repeat myself? These goods absolutely must not be seen by anyone else, do you understand? You blockhead!"
Suddnely, a conversation, occasionally clear and sometimes vague, was carried by the night wind into "Zorro’s" ears.
"Something’s up!"
The heroic thief’s spirits rose!
