Aiden nodded, committing the details to memory. It wasn’t as intricate as he’d imagined, but it was enough.
The system, he recalled, was a gift from Lilith, the mother of demons in this world’s lore. Whether she was the biblical Lilith or something else entirely, he didn’t know.
This world defied the physics and logic of his old life, a place where mana crackled in the air and destinies were written in blood and prophecy. As an incubus, he was a creature of desire, but he knew little beyond the basics—incubi were male succubi, seducers who thrived on passion and essence. If he didn’t learn to wield his powers carefully, he risked meeting the fate of the novel’s minor villains: a sword through the neck, courtesy of the story’s fated protagonist.
He glanced at the pile of clothes by the canal, his temporary refuge in the viscount’s estate. "No washing machines in this damn world," he grumbled, picking up a delicate silk gown.
It belonged to Lady Flora, the viscount’s daughter, or perhaps one of her maids. The scent of her perfume lingered on the fabric, stirring his hunger just enough to make his pulse quicken. He pushed the feeling down, focusing on his plan. When suddenly...
[Notification]
[Enough ember has been gathered. "Aura of allure" has been unlocked.]
"OHH...interesting.."
"System," he said again, the interface reappearing. He tapped the skill ’Aura of Allure’ and a new description unfolded:
--------
Aura of Allure
A seductive force radiating from the host’s demonic blood. It passively sways emotions, clouding minds with desire or fear within a short radius. Actively, the host can focus it to charm or dominate, fueled by Lilith’s primal essence, but overuse drains vitality. The blood’s power makes the aura potent, bending mortals and immortals alike, though holy beings or strong-willed foes resist. It risks drawing Lilith’s attention, binding the host to her will...
--------
Aiden’s lips curled into a sly smile. This was his ticket to survival, a tool to bend the world to his will. He bit his finger, wincing as a bead of blood welled up.
"Hurts more than I thought," he muttered, letting the drop fall into the bucket of water used for washing. The blood dissolved, infusing the water with a faint, intoxicating scent.
He submerged Lady Flora’s clothes, letting his essence seep into the fabric. If his skill worked as described, anyone who touched the water or wore the clothes would feel a subtle pull toward him, their minds more open to his influence.
But he wasn’t done. He moved to the servant’s kitchen, empty in the evening’s quiet. The water gallon, still murky from his earlier dip, stood in the corner.
He grimaced—’nobody changed the damn water?’—and added another drop of his blood. Then, for good measure, he smeared a trace of it beneath a loaf of bread and stirred it into a jar of jam. The ’Aura of Allure’ would weave his charm into the servants’ daily routines, making them more pliable, more trusting. Not possessed, like Amber or Akidna, but gently swayed.
"If this works," he murmured, "the mansion’s next."
Each use of his skill drained his ember slightly, the percentage on his interface ticking down to 95%. With it came a faint pang of hunger, a reminder of his incubus nature. He’d have to feed soon, but for now, his plan was in motion.
"Aiden!" a familiar voice called, soft but insistent.
He turned, relaxing when he saw Akidna approaching. Her dark hair was pulled into a tight ponytail, her maid’s uniform hugging her curves as she adjusted the ribbon at her back.
The motion accentuated her figure, and Aiden’s gaze lingered, his hunger stirring despite himself.
"Oh, it’s you," he said, his tone light but his eyes sharp. He smeared the blood from his finger, hiding the wound as he turned his back to her.
Akidna stepped closer, oblivious to his scheming. "Aiden, where have you been? The high butler’s been asking for you all day. I didn’t know what to say." She paused, her dark eyes softening behind her glasses.
"Thank the Gods Lady Flora favors you, or that old man would’ve had you scrubbing floors till midnight."
Aiden chuckled, leaning against the kitchen counter. "And you? Why were you looking for me?"
Her cheeks flushed, and she stepped closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I... I missed you." She pressed herself against him, her chest grazing his shirt as she inhaled deeply. "Your scent..."
His smile widened. The ’Aura of Allure’ was working, amplifying her desire, her obsession. He turned to face her, their eyes locking. Her pupils dilated, her breath quickening as she pressed closer, her body radiating heat. "Oh, have you?" he teased, his voice low and smooth.
"Yes," she murmured, her lips inches from his.
He backed away slightly, playing with her desire. "You don’t get candy just because you ask, dear. You have to give something in return....akidna."
Akidna pouted, her hands sliding to his shoulders. "What do you want?" she asked, desperation lacing her words. "I’ll do anything."
"Anything?" His grin was predatory now, his incubus instincts flaring. She was stunning, her beauty rivaling the models of his old world, enhanced by the mana that seemed to permeate this realm.
He didn’t care why the women here were so breathtaking—only that they were his to charm, his to claim.
"...Good girl," he said, his hands trailing from her back to her hips, then lower, savoring her curves. He pulled her toward the kitchen rack, pinning her against the corner. Her breathing hitched, her body trembling with anticipation.
"....Someone might see," she whispered, her voice a mix of fear and excitement.
"...Do you care?" he asked, his golden eyes boring into hers.
"No," she breathed, her resolve crumbling.
"That’s my Akidna," he purred. "Now be a good girl and.... pull it down."
Her hands trembled as she obeyed, hiking up her maid’s skirt and sliding her underwear down, the fabric visibly drenched. Aiden’s smile widened.
"Nice," he said, his hunger flaring as he closed the distance between them.
