CHAPTER 602: PRECHT VS PURGATORY DRAGON

Though there were many Worms, they were not a big problem for Precht.

They were just a bit annoying.

He cleared one group, and another quickly swarmed him; it was simply endless.

For a moment, Precht wondered if the opponent had mastered the same "Arcane Magic", capable of creating something from nothing.

However, the individual strength of these Worms was too far behind to be a concern.

Precht waved his hand, and a purple arc of light shot out, sweeping away the Worms in front of him and felling dozens of large trees.

"Boring." He was already fed up; dealing with these things was simply a waste of time.

Just as he was about to continue forward, he felt an astonishing heat coming from mid-air.

It was already dusk, and it was raining, yet suddenly no raindrops fell on him.

He looked up to see a red shadow diving down from the sky.

"A Dragon?" Precht was dumbfounded, so much so that he failed to maintain his usual composure. "Are there still Dragons in this era?"

"Roar!!!"

With a Dragon’s roar, crimson flames and magma poured down like an inverted volcano, the scene resembling a natural disaster.

"Hmph, this kind of thing!" Precht raised his hands, conjuring a purple magic shield.

The shield looked like a thin layer, yet it resisted the erosion of the lava, keeping Precht unharmed under the Hellfire Dragon’s breath.

When the breath ended, magma flowed through the forest, trees ignited on contact, and the forest instantly turned into a sea of fire.

"What immense power!" Sweat beaded on Precht’s forehead. He recalled the records of the Dragon King Festival in ancient texts and sighed. "Did ancient people really wage war on such creatures on a massive scale?"

He considered himself to be at the pinnacle of magical attainment in this era. Could it be that in that ancient era, many people could reach his level?

If that were the case, then while the path of magic seemed prosperous now, it was actually inferior to ancient times.

"Indeed, initiating the great magic world is imperative!"

Precht’s conviction grew stronger. He waved his arm a few times, pointing directly at the Hellfire Dragon in the sky. "Even if it’s a Dragon, it won’t stop the arrival of the great magic world!"

Complex purple characters formed a massive magic circle, encircling the dragon.

"Amaterasu Hundred Styles: Super Gigantic!"

Boom!!!

The giant magic circle exploded violently with Precht’s movement, its sound echoing throughout Tenrou Island, and the heat and strong winds generated by the explosion almost dispersed the dark clouds in the sky.

The ground vibrated slightly just from the sound, the leaves on the trees rustled, and thinner trees were bent by the strong wind coming from above.

"Ang!!!"

A Dragon’s roar sounded, as if in pain or anger, and the huge crimson figure burst out of the smoke, lunging directly at Precht on the ground.

"Didn’t it work?" Precht couldn’t tell if the Dragon was injured, but he didn’t have time to think much.

Facing the pouncing behemoth, there was no time to dodge. With such a size and speed, almost the moment it began its dive, Precht already felt the wind pressure carrying heat.

He held up his hands, and a small purple magic circle appeared. From the center of the circle, a chain flew out, piercing directly towards the Purgatory Dragon’s throat.

This was his signature magic, Dark Chain.

The piercing form of the Dark Chain was enough to penetrate Makarov’s body in his giant form.

The Purgatory Dragon did not dodge, only focused on pouncing down. When its front claw pressed down on Precht, the chain deviated slightly, only piercing its shoulder.

Boom!

Precht was completely slammed into the ground.

The ground cracked, lava splattered, accompanied by a violent explosion, like a giant rock thrown into a sea of lava.

Where the Purgatory Dragon was pierced by the chain, a few Dragon scales shattered, and a few sparks flew.

The Purgatory Dragon looked around as if feeling guilty, and only felt relieved when it saw that the surroundings were a sea of fire.

It gritted its teeth: "This is too humiliating for a Dragon. That old man in the mountains should be able to withstand it."

"Hahahaha, so that’s it." Precht laughed as he climbed out of the pit. "Indeed, even a Dragon is not invincible!"

"What the heck?!" The Purgatory Dragon was stunned. How could this old man be so tough?

If it had merely failed to kill him, it wouldn’t have been so surprised. The key was that Precht, who climbed out of the pit, merely patted his clothes to extinguish the flames and stood before the Purgatory Dragon as if nothing had happened.

This guy took two direct hits head-on and was actually unharmed.

The breath attack was one thing, it seemed to have been absorbed by some magic, but that last claw strike had landed squarely.

However, a light flashed over Precht’s body, his slightly messy hair and beard became clean and tidy; his burnt and tattered clothes and cloak also became brand new.

"Dark Pulse!"

Precht seemed to have gained confidence, decisively condensing a black magic orb over a meter in diameter with both hands. Magic power erupted, and a purple energy wave shot towards the Purgatory Dragon’s head.

This was the second human the Purgatory Dragon had seen so arrogant in this world.

It opened its mouth, and crimson magma spewed out.

Precht’s magic was immediately swallowed by the exaggerated scale of the breath attack, and he himself was enveloped by the magma, then blasted away by the powerful impact.

Along the way, neither trees nor rocks could stop this breath attack. If viewed from above, it looked like a thick line of fire drawn on the circular island.

It extended from the interior all the way to the shore.

Precht became a man of fire, continuously pushed by the breath attack until he plunged into the sea.

His white beard and white hair were scorched, and his clothes were burnt. The flames on him finally extinguished only when he was completely submerged in the sea.

But when he surfaced, his body, which should have been covered in wounds, was still perfectly intact.

Magic power surged, and his hair, beard, and clothes all returned to their original state.

This time, Precht was much calmer.

He frowned and pondered for a while. Although he wasn’t afraid of this Dragon, defeating it would probably not be easy either.

Moreover, this Dragon’s appearance was very peculiar.

It was him.

Precht recalled the scene he had seen through the Demon Eye when Capricorn and Rustyrose failed.

This wasn’t a real Dragon, but summoned by that brat named Rhodes.

Precht’s recklessness disappeared, and his intelligence started to kick in.

If this was magic, then even killing this Dragon would be meaningless; it would be better to directly deal with that brat.

Also, the most important thing was to find Zeref. Destroying Fairy Tail was a side task, not a necessity.

Hmm.

Precht clarified his thoughts and decided to put his derailed plan back on track.
