Fairy Tail: Igneel's eldest son in Anime Multiverse
Chapter 222 - 221: The Light of Heroes
In that legendary chapter of history, the Fianna Knights joined forces with other heroes to launch a counteroffensive against the monsters. When they faced the Cyclopean King Balor blocking their path, a brave Pallum warrior burned his life to become the Giant's Spear, piercing through the formidable enemy. The power of that one thrust carved a rift through the canyon itself, which even today remains a famous landmark known as the Fianna Causeway.
Now, summoned by Finn, that legendary knight order crossed time and space to descend upon the battlefield, recreating that one fabled blow.
Leading them, a Pallum astride a spirit warhorse let out a furious roar and unleashed the very same [Savage Magic Spear] as Finn himself.
The world of Danmachi never stated anything about reincarnation, but when Charles saw that Argo had exactly the same face as Bell, and even wielded the identical [Savage Magic Spear], he couldn't believe there was no connection between the two.
The heroic spirit Pallum raised his lance high. All of the knight order behind him dissolved into points of light, which flowed into his lance—his very body fusing with the strike. In the end, only a single massive throwing spear remained in midair. Wrapped in radiant brilliance, the spear of giants hurtled toward Nidhogg.
At the moment of impact, everything turned to white. Everyone's vision was filled with blinding light, as if they had entered a space of pure whiteness.
Charles didn't know what that ancient spear strike looked like when it opened the Giant's Causeway a thousand years ago. All he knew was that when the heroic spirit launched this attack, all sound vanished.
After several seconds of utter silence, a new sound arose—it was Nidhogg's anguished, fear-stricken roar.
Then color and sound returned to the world.
What lay before them now was a vast crater, and Nidhogg was nowhere in sight.
Finn, supporting himself on the Heroic Spirit Banner, said, "Is it over?"
Honestly, even Finn was stunned by the power of that one strike.
Since it was his first time using the banner, he had poured his full magical power into it, releasing the blow at maximum output.
And the result far surpassed even his own spear magic. The blast had torn a hole through the ultra-durable metal floor of the artificial dungeon.
Even if that had been the actual evil dragon from legend, Finn didn't believe it could have survived such a blow.
But Charles said coldly, "Nidhogg is still alive. Stay alert."
Sure enough, the sound of a painful growl rose from within the crater.
Finn's Heroic Spirit Strike had indeed been devastating. If not for an unexpected twist, there would have been no question—it would have ended Nidhogg.
That twist was the trap mechanisms of the artificial dungeon.
During their previous battle, a portion of the green flesh covering the ground had been destroyed, which allowed parts of the dungeon's mechanisms to resume functioning.
When the Heroic Spirit unleashed its attack, Nidhogg had been completely paralyzed by the imminent impact. But someone lurking in the shadows had reactivated the trap mechanisms.
The ground beneath Nidhogg's feet opened up at the last possible second, allowing it to barely escape the lethal strike.
And so, Nidhogg survived.
A black-scaled claw gripped the crater's edge, and the monstrous black evil dragon crawled back up once more.
Though its magic stone had avoided destruction, nearly half of Nidhogg's body had been obliterated in the blast, with only half its head remaining.
Yet this mutilated appearance only made it look more vicious.
Before Charles could react, Ais—wreathed in the flames of vengeance—had already closed in on Nidhogg. Her Despair Sword slashed again and again.
Scales flew and blood splattered. Ais was nothing like the [Sword Princess] of her usual composed self. She now radiated a kind of madness.
Of course, Nidhogg wouldn't take it lying down. It fired off a barrage of magic toward her. Ais, her mind clouded by rage, didn't even think to dodge.
Just as the spells were about to hit her, Charles intervened in time.
"Roar of the Fire Dragon!"
A pillar of fire erupted from Charles's mouth, wiping away all of Nidhogg's magic. Meanwhile, Ais's relentless attacks dismantled all defenses around its chest, revealing the core magic stone within.
But Nidhogg lashed out and sent Ais flying with one swipe of its massive claw.
Seeing its wounds regenerate rapidly, everyone understood: they had to finish this—now.
"Fimbulwinter!"
Riveria's frost winds swept across the battlefield, freezing over Nidhogg's body. The ice not only slowed its regeneration, but also restrained its movements.
However, the red markings on Nidhogg's body—like glowing veins—lit up once again. Even in its half-destroyed state, it activated a powerful wind magic, blowing Gareth and the others away.
These red lines were part of a mana-absorbing magic formation, connected to the corrupted spirit clones stationed across Orario.
That formation was the key to Nidhogg's rapid development—it continuously channeled mana into its body.
With such immense energy pouring in, Nidhogg's regeneration accelerated even more.
Gareth steadied himself with his battle axe and shouted, "This'll never end at this rate! Finn, do something!"
But Finn remained calm. "Don't worry. We will win this battle. The evil god's ambitions and malice will never outshine the light of our heroes!"
Just as he finished speaking, several of the magic circles on Nidhogg's body shattered. Red markings disintegrated into glittering motes of light.
On the surface, Ottar had plunged his greatsword deep into one of the pillar-like corrupted spirit clones.
With a furious roar, he heaved upward and split the pillar in two.
From another direction, four Pallum warriors clad in full flame-gold armor struck simultaneously, their weapons carving deep gashes into another spirit pillar—nearly severing it entirely.
A Cat Person dropped from above to finish it, obliterating the pillar completely.
Freya Familia's elite forces—the Flame-Gold Four Warriors and the [Goddess's Chariot]—had successfully fulfilled their goddess's task.
Elsewhere, Ganesha Familia's captain, [Elephant God's Staff] Shakti Varma, led their elites against the third pillar.
The fourth was being handled by Asfi, the [Universal Genius] of Hermes Familia, who led a joint coalition of various Familia.
The fifth battlefield had been assigned to Hephaestus Familia. Tsubaki didn't personally enter the fray; instead, she coordinated a barrage of magic swords from behind the lines.
Even spirits couldn't survive under such overwhelming firepower—the pillar was blasted to rubble.
As for the final spirit pillar...
Charles, hearing the deep, resonant sound like a grand clock tower's chime, muttered, "As expected from a budding hero—that's one hell of a presence!"
Bell's skill [Argonaut] emitted a unique sound during charging—starting as a faint bell, and eventually resonating like a massive chime.
To people, the sound inspired passion and courage. But to monsters, it was something else entirely.
The bell rang through the underground maze, echoing across the space. The last of Nidhogg's magic circles shattered.
"Now's our chance!"
Charles entered his spirit assimilation state. Seizing the opening created by the bell's disruption, he charged forward.
His fist slammed directly into Nidhogg's magic stone. The only sound that remained was the sharp crack—the sound of magic stone shattering.
