CHAPTER 44: CHAPTER 43: PERIOD (1)

Day after day, it’s almost time for National Day.

After finishing the last class before the holiday at the school, Xiang Qichen packed some belongings at home and hurried to the airport to fly to H City.

During the National Day holiday, the "Xuanwu" film crew also has four days off. Although it’s not long, for all the staff who have been working for three months without a break, it’s already a privilege.

So, on the eve of the holiday, filming in the group continued until the early hours.

Due to a flight delay, by the time Xiang Qichen dropped his luggage at the hotel and arrived at the film crew, it was already 10:30 PM.

He walked unhurriedly towards the studio and happened to run into Liu Yang, who was coming out of the restroom.

Seeing her, Liu Yang wasn’t surprised and smiled as he walked over to greet her, "Hey, Zhou Huaiyi, you’re here again?"

Xiang Qichen nodded, "Yeah."

The two walked side by side towards the studio.

Along the way, Liu Yang asked, "I heard you’re now working as an assistant for Xiang Qichen?"

Xiang Qichen replied the same way, "Yes."

"Good for you, Zhou Huaiyi," Liu Yang said with a look of surprise, then with a bit of regret, "Aren’t you going to do sound work anymore, just sticking with Xiang Qichen for good?"

Hearing this, Xiang Qichen paused. He could have just answered "no," but for some reason, he responded instead, "Well, yes."

Liu Yang was shocked, "Unbelievable, Zhou Huaiyi! But, even so, we’re colleagues in the same crew, you can always come to your senior if you need help, I’ll do what I can!"

Xiang Qichen pressed his lips together, feeling inexplicably that Liu Yang’s words weren’t too sincere, but still said, "Thank you."

Entering the studio, they happened to finish shooting a scene. Zhou Huaiyi was standing there, watching the script, surrounded by a few people, touching up her makeup, fixing her hair, and adjusting her clothes.

Xiang Qichen couldn’t help but smile at the scene.

It seems that her ability to adapt to her surroundings is quite surprising.

Liu Yang noticed Zhou Huaiyi was grinning foolishly at Xiang Qichen from afar as soon as she came in, with a look of "This kid is hopeless." He patted her shoulder, "I’m leaving, you... tone it down a bit."

Yang Li didn’t know the person in front of him was his boss and answered honestly, "How could I not be tired? Running up and down, with a lack of sleep..."

Xiang Qichen raised an eyebrow unobtrusively and suddenly asked, "Feeling aggrieved?"

"Of course aggr..." half-way through the sentence, Yang Li realized something and changed his tone, "Hey, you, Zhou Huaiyi, why do you sound so probing? Are you planning to report me to Qichen? You little junior!"

Xiang Qichen didn’t pay attention to his words and asked again, "If you’re so aggrieved, why not quit?"

Yang Li was clearly led astray by him and answered directly, "Quitting is out of the question. Even though the work is tiring, the pay is good, and it’s hard to find someone with a better temper than Qichen in this circle." He said this and then patted Xiang Qichen on the shoulder, exclaiming, "I’m not bragging, but working with Qichen, you’ll never be put at a disadvantage or get bullied!"

Xiang Qichen pressed his lips, feeling quite satisfied with this compliment, and looked down to hide his smile.

Yang Li didn’t notice his reaction, took out his phone from his pocket, "Let me tell you about Qichen’s schedule for the next few days during the holiday. On the first, tomorrow night, there’s a watch endorsement event in Shanghai. On the second night, there’s a celebrity charity banquet in Yanchuan. On the third, which is more important, the release conference of the movie ’Ten Miles of Spring Blossoms’ that he starred in a year ago."

Xiang Qichen: "Got it."

"Also..." he pulled out a car key from his bag, "You can drive, right?"

Xiang Qichen nodded.

Yang Li: "Sister Yan left me with some things to do, so I’ll have to trouble you to take Qichen back to the hotel tonight. Remember to remind him about tomorrow’s schedule when you get there."

Once Yang Li finished explaining everything, he collected his personal belongings and left to handle his tasks, leaving Xiang Qichen alone on the set.

Zhou Huaiyi noticed them chatting, wanted to go over and say hi to Xiang Qichen, but refrained as filming was about to start and it wasn’t appropriate to move around, so she sat quietly in her spot, reading the script and waiting for her scene.
