Chapter 232 - 168: I’m Not Harun
CHAPTER 232: CHAPTER 168: I’M NOT HARUN
"Puff!"
With a muffled sound, the ground slightly trembled.
Another sharp earth spike shot out of the ground, piercing straight towards a rock.
Unfortunately, it was just one for now.
This time, Luo De didn’t need to say much. Fernie took a deep breath and started focusing again.
Luo De could feel that the rich Power of the Earth in Fernie’s body was somewhat weaker than before, but still abundant.
Far more abundant than the energy in that Earth Element Extraordinary Gem.
Fernie was like a treasure trove now, yet undeveloped, only possessing one ability from her awakening.
Similar to a Witch.
The difference is, Warlocks possess strong Spiritual Strength and can continuously adjust their spells.
But to what extent she can adjust, that depends solely on Fernie herself.
This situation is somewhat similar to what Luo De is experiencing.
The only difference is that Luo De relies on absorbing Extraordinary Gems to improve his body’s energy limit.
While Fernie needs to enhance her own bloodline to become stronger.
In comparison, Luo De is a bit more extraordinary.
"Boom!"
The sound of earth breaking rang out as two earth spikes violently drilled out of the ground.
"I did it!"
Fernie’s eyes lit up, but as she lost concentration, the two earth spikes instantly turned into piles of yellow dirt.
The two spikes were also short and small, and they missed their marks.
Only one grazed the side of the rock.
Seeing this, Fernie felt a bit deflated, puckering her lips.
"Not bad, at least you got two out."
Luo De patiently comforted her, "Take a breath, try a few more times."
Luo De kept encouraging Fernie, leading her to practice over and over.
Luo De was very patient, and although Fernie kept failing, she never gave up.
Even pouting, she kept struggling with the rock.
After practicing over a dozen times, Fernie’s body’s energy was finally nearly depleted.
But she could now consistently summon two earth spikes, although when two appeared at once, she still lost accuracy.
At least it’s a beautiful start.
Luo De told Fernie to rest well and continue practicing tomorrow.
Fernie relied on her body to absorb free energy to recover, but she did it much faster than Luo De.
Similarly, Fernie holding an Earth Element Extraordinary Gem would recover faster, but not as swiftly as Luo De.
It’s worth noting that Wizards use Spiritual Power to mobilize Magic Power, then transform it into various forms of energy, like flames, lightning, and earthstones.
Theoretically, any Wizard can cast spells of various elements.
But the energies that a Wizard is personally more attuned to are easier to control and have greater power.
For instance, if Luo De and Fernie were Wizards of the same level, then flame-related spells cast by Luo De would be stronger than Fernie’s.
Similarly, Fernie casting earth-related energy spells would be more powerful.
"Perhaps we should find some Earth Element spells for Fernie to study."
Luo De mused as he watched Fernie’s departing figure, then looked at Vivian, who was sitting under the eaves enjoying the sun and snoozing.
"Tell your sister to translate the apprentice’s basic spell books."
"Sister is still translating the Sea Pattern Magic Iron materials."
Vivian stood up, "Do you want to switch to spells?"
"Let’s finish the Sea Pattern Magic Iron first; spells take too much time."
Luo De thought of getting some from the Dawn Society, even if it costs some fees.
Vivian nodded and sat back down on the chair to snooze.
"Lord."
A Guard came running to report: "The patrol reports there’s a trading convoy named Icehoof heading our way, said to be delivering supplies for Baron Harun."
...
...
Luo De stood in front of the Breath of Frost tavern, hands behind his back, watching the Icehoof trading team gradually approaching from afar.
Now Luo De no longer received these small trading teams; procurement tasks were generally handled by Lawrence.
But this time was different, as the slaves and warhorses sent by Harun via this trading team were what Luo De was anticipating.
Soon, the wheels of the Icehoof trading team stopped in front of the inn, and a middle-aged man quickly walked over from the convoy.
"Good day, esteemed Lord Baron!"
The middle-aged man stopped in front of Luo De and bowed respectfully,
"I am Engle Breeze, the steward of the Wolfhoof trading team. It’s an honor to serve you."
Engle’s face was full of smiles, his voice carrying a merchant’s typical smoothness.
He resembled Lawrence somewhat.
However, Luo De rarely heard Lawrence’s smoothness anymore, aside from the frequent "Got it," there was only a slightly smug smile.
When not in front of Luo De, Lawrence’s tone was either haughty towards merchants or commanding towards slaves.
Lawrence had long embraced the role of steward.
"Engle, I remember you."
Luo De’s gaze lingered on Engle for a moment, then asked,
"You were the one who brought Chris’s family last time, correct?"
A flicker of surprise crossed Engle’s face, as if he hadn’t expected Luo De to remember such a minor matter.
"Yes, Lord!"
Engle hastily nodded, bending even lower, "It’s truly my honor that you remember!"
Luo De didn’t say much more, merely raising a hand slightly to indicate Engle should rise.
His gaze had already shifted to the silhouettes behind the convoy.
Engle realized something and quickly reported, "According to your instructions, we’ve procured six stonemasons, five bricklayers, and three carpenters."
Saying this, he quickly produced a parchment list and a pouch, handing them over,
"There are forty-seven Gold Coins remaining, all here."
Luo De didn’t take them. Instead, Lawrence stepped forward to accept, quickly glanced at them, and stored them away.
