CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: HOW MUCH IS THE COMPENSATION? I’LL PAY

"How much money for compensation? I’ll pay," Leon Keane said in a low voice.

Ivana Monroe was shocked, her eyes widened as she reached out to snatch the phone from his hand: "My affairs have nothing to do with you, give me back my phone."

He was tall and strong, she petite and delicate—she was no match for him.

Seeing her fierce pounce, Leon feared she might twist her injured foot again, so he reached out and embraced her soft waist, while raising the phone out of her reach with another hand.

"Who said your affairs have nothing to do with me? I’m Timmy’s father. Your affairs are my affairs."

Ivana wanted to grab the phone, but being embraced by him made it seem like she had intentionally thrown herself into his arms. Her elegant face flushed red, wanting to retreat from his embrace, yet as his hand lifted slightly from her waist, her abdomen pressed tightly against his.

Ivana felt something uncomfortably pressed into her, and her face flushed as if burning; the more she struggled, the tighter he held her, his lowered black eyes showing dissatisfaction with her current behavior.

Ivana depressingly discovered that this man seemed solely focused on the phone conversation, oblivious to how improper his current actions were.

Timmy, the little boy, looked at Leon with admiration in his eyes that couldn’t be disguised.

He liked this uncle; whenever mommy encountered bad people, the uncle always stood out heroically in front of mommy.

The child’s soul was always pure and innocent; he saw mommy failing to snatch the phone, her face turning red with anger.

Ivana, facing the child, couldn’t possibly reveal such an embarrassing situation. Suddenly sensing his supposed reaction, her heart skipped a beat as her face turned crimson.

"Timmy is my child, and has nothing to do with you!" Ivana fumed, her small hand grabbing the flesh at his waist, twisting it slowly with force, quietly warning him, "Leon Keane, let me go."

Pain shot through Leon’s waist, causing him to frown. Without her consent, he hung up the phone and dialed a string of numbers on her phone.

A pleasant ringtone accompanied by vibrations emitted from his suit pocket.

Leon pressed the disconnect button and handed the phone to Ivana, "This is my number, send the compensation details to me."

Ivana grabbed the phone, flipped through the recent calls, and deleted his number from her phone right in front of him, raising her small face coldly, "My affairs don’t need President Kane’s concern."

Leon’s black eyes flashed with chill as he released her waist, tugging his thin lips slightly: "You still have time to take back your words, I can give you my phone number again."

Women Leon encountered all racked their brains to try climbing up to him, a wealthy supporter.

Someone as unappreciative as Ivana was a first for him.

Ivana sneered internally, Leon truly was born with a silver spoon, used to being domineering, thinking every woman must revolve around him?

"Sorry to disappoint you. I’ll say it again: my affairs don’t need President Kane’s concern, and now, please leave, and don’t come to disturb us again."

Leon looked at her earnest little face, unable to find even a trace of pretense.

He thought, this woman had brought him unprecedentedly good feelings in bed before, and as the mother of his two children, even if she played some tricks to try and capture his heart, he could understand and indulge her.

But she wasn’t.

This woman just didn’t want to see him anymore.

Leon suppressed the anger boiling within him, offering a chilling smile: "Ivana Monroe, you will regret it. Someday, you will search all of Ravenswood for me."

After Leon finished speaking, he didn’t look at Ivana’s shocked expression. Instead, he turned his face slightly, glanced at Timmy Monroe with a very gentle look, then strode away.

Ivana tiptoed to hug Timmy Monroe tightly, feeling a strong sense of unease, as if Leon would take Timmy away from her.

"Mommy," Timmy called softly, sensing Ivana’s unease, "Mommy, what’s wrong?"

Ivana regained her senses, slightly releasing Timmy, looking at his tender, handsome little face that seemed sculpted like Leon’s; could that man from six years ago really have been Leon?

Ivana was startled, for a man like Leon wouldn’t recognize a son carelessly, could he?

Ivana dared not think further. Trembling she said, "Timmy, if...mommy says if...your biological father appeared and you admired him, would you leave mommy?"

Timmy shook his head confidently, "No. Mommy raised me, I only want mommy."

No one in his heart could match the importance of mommy.

Ivana’s eyes felt hot as she shed scorching tears, "Good child."

Regardless if Leon is Timmy’s biological father, as long as Timmy wants to follow his mother, the law wouldn’t grant custody to Leon.

GK office.

Katherine was overcome with jealousy, calling Michelle Monroe resentfully, "President Monroe, Ivana didn’t go to Mrs. Vance’s today to apologize, which led to Mrs. Vance calling and scolding me. I wondered why she was so arrogant? Turns out she climbed into Leon Keane’s bed, with Leon sticking up for her. Ivana is really despicable."

Michelle shot a pang through her heart upon hearing Leon’s name, responding snidely, "She’s not just despicable. To catch President Kane’s attention, she had her son, born out of a fling with a ruffian six years ago, undergo plastic surgery to resemble Leon Keane. To climb up to Leon, she really spared no effort, setting aside all decency."

Katherine was taken aback, "What? I didn’t mishear, did I? Her own flesh and blood, and she could do that?"

Michelle sneered, "What flesh and blood? He is just a mutt, never meant to be born, destined for a miserable fate. Oh, you don’t know, that mutt looks so much like Leon, even Leon himself didn’t recognize it, thinking it’s his son."

Katherine exclaimed, "Won’t Leon do a DNA test to reveal Ivana’s vile true nature?"

Michelle chuckled twice, "You’re oversimplifying. Do you think Ivana would foolishly admit the mutt is Leon’s son?"

"I get it." Katherine suddenly wore a sinister smile, "President Monroe, what if I break this news to the media, what would happen?"

Michelle’s eyes shone brightly, "The media would put Ivana and that mutt under the spotlight, forcing Leon to conduct a paternity test."

Katherine ended the call with Michelle and immediately went to buy a burner phone card, dialing a gossip media’s number, "Hi, I’ve got scoop. There’s a tramp named Ivana who in pursuit of status, had a child from a bar fling with a man, altered to look like Leon Keane..."
