CHAPTER 25: CHAPTER 25: THE CONSEQUENCES OF OFFENDING THE BELOVED

Ivana clicked the mouse, reading the angry rant of ’The Moonlight’. It was simple and crude, much like a certain domineering man.

Ivana smiled faintly, shaking her head, thinking her idea too absurd. She had thoroughly offended Leon Keane.

When he left, his words were so final. He would never take the initiative to help her unless she went around Ravenswood begging him for help just like he said.

She would never go looking for him, never.

A man like Leon Keane was not someone she wanted to provoke, nor someone she could afford to.

Ivana reminisced about Zachary Heston chasing her during university, sparing no effort. On Valentine’s Day, he stood in the rain delivering flowers outside the girls’ dormitory. During PE class, when she stumbled while running, he nervously ran to carry her to the medical room. When she was scolded by her stepmother and felt wronged, sitting in the park wiping tears at night, he came to embrace her, comforting her the whole night.

Her cold heart was gradually moved by Zachary. The day she agreed to be his girlfriend, he was as joyful as a child, excited all day long.

Isn’t such a love story supposed to end happily? But her happiness was too brief. Starting from the day she married him, he gradually grew indifferent, even unwilling to touch her.

At the time, she was immersed in the joy of having a baby, unaware of Zachary’s changes until she caught him cheating in bed.

Ivana’s heart ached. She thought six years would allow her to forget the past pain, but she was wrong. Some pains are engraved in one’s bones. She might stop loving, but she couldn’t forget how close she was to dying at the hands of Michelle Monroe and the man who once loved her dearly.

Ivana shut off the computer loudly, wiping away the tears inadvertently streaming from the corner of her eye. Zachary Heston had taught her a heart-wrenching lesson, leaving her with no illusions about any men.

Ivana’s Weibo.

’The Moonlight’ chiding others, sharp-tongued and crude, one person fighting against a group, defeating them utterly. Some of those who were utterly uncouth began to insult ’The Moonlight’s’ mother.

It had just been posted when the Weibo account got hacked. Immediately after, her computer screen turned black, shutting off and restarting with the same black screen and two large red words appearing: "Scrapped".

A few people were shocked, refusing to believe it, they reinstalled the computer system only for the system to crash repeatedly.

In the end, the few of them were left distressed and desperate. This ’The Moonlight’ was truly ruthless. The problem was not only were they ruthless but also a super hacker. Why did they have to mouth off and insult ’The Moonlight’s’ mother?

They pitied Leon Keane and his little pillow who hadn’t insulted ’The Moonlight’s’ mother, yet their computers were hacked too. The reasoning ’The Moonlight’ gave was simple: Seeing them repulsive, they hacked their Weibo and computers.

Michelle Monroe was about to explode with anger. She was Leon Keane’s little pillow and had originally gone to laugh at Ivana. Who would have thought that halfway through, ’The Moonlight’ would intervene, causing her endless frustration and even hacking her Weibo and computer? It was just a minor account, so being hacked was no big deal, but her computer contained...

Kane Group, President’s office.

Derrick Stern and Secretary Sullivan dragged chairs, sitting opposite Leon Keane. Each of them had a laptop in front, fingers moving rapidly over the keyboard.

They were the super hackers known as ’The Moonlight,’ especially Derrick Stern, who aced the computer engineer exam in his freshman year, dismantling others’ computer security systems was his forte.

Secretary Sullivan’s hacking skills were less adept, but with Derrick as the ace, bringing a bronze level up to ace level wasn’t a problem.

Suddenly, Secretary Sullivan screamed, covering her eyes not daring to look at the obscene video on her computer.

Derrick was closest to Secretary Sullivan, hearing her scream, he stopped typing and turned to look at her computer screen, eyes widening instantly.

"A threesome! Truly something." Derrick watched with interest as the female lead in the video was sandwiched between two middle-aged men with dragon tattoos, carried away to ecstasy, laughing and commenting.

"Stop it, isn’t it disgusting?" Secretary Sullivan was born into a scholarly family, a traditional woman at heart, hearing Derrick’s coarse remarks, she couldn’t take it anymore, gritting her teeth to shut the video.

Derrick suddenly stopped her: "Show it to the President."

Secretary Sullivan turned red, glaring at him.

Derrick knew she misunderstood. He turned the laptop towards Leon Keane and explained to Secretary Sullivan with a smile: "The female lead in the video looks a bit familiar."

Leon Keane watched the video. The three were in the climax, the female lead’s face captured close-up in ecstasy, though she looked quite young, probably only eighteen or nineteen, Leon still recognized her as Michelle Monroe, who had bullied his son at The Sovereign.

"Save that video."

Leon Keane’s long fingers tapped the desk lightly, a sneer on his lips. Save it, it might come in handy.

"Ah? President Kane, do you really want to save this kind of thing?" Secretary Sullivan was troubled. Dear President, you forget that this is my private computer. If anyone finds out, how will I manage?

"Hmm." Leon’s attitude was firm.

Secretary Sullivan opened her mouth to refuse, but seeing Leon’s cold face, she silently moved back to her computer, reluctantly saving the video.

**

A few days later.

Ivana received a call from Caleb Monroe.

"Your sister is getting married to Zachary Heston tomorrow. She wants your blessing. You must attend the wedding ceremony on time tomorrow to give your sincere blessing as her elder sister."

"What if I refuse?"

"Ivana, why are you so unreasonable? Tomorrow, half of the attendees will be the bride’s relatives. Now everyone knows you are alive and have returned. If they don’t see you at Michelle’s wedding, what will the relatives think? You know how those meddlesome relatives gossip? If they ask about Michelle at the wedding, won’t it embarrass her?"

Ivana suddenly felt like laughing coldly. Is her father suggesting she should have died six years ago? That way, the relatives wouldn’t ask, and Michelle wouldn’t be embarrassed at the wedding?

Caleb was very reluctant to make this call. Ivana had embarrassed him, six years ago and even now, he wished he had never fathered such a sinister and ruthless daughter.

It was Michelle who begged him to call Ivana.

"Your sister will send the wedding location shortly." Caleb paused, then said, "Your grandpa will also be present tomorrow. Since you left six years ago, his health has declined yearly. When you were young, he cherished you so much. Let the old man have some peace! Don’t make scenes anymore."
