Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 342: How Dare You? Not Letting Me Off?
CHAPTER 342: CHAPTER 342: HOW DARE YOU? NOT LETTING ME OFF?
"I know...we’re on our way to the hospital right now. Dad, this is all Leon Keane’s fault. I watched Jackie’s suicide video; it was Leon who drove her to it. Boohoo...Dad, you need to call and lay into our little sister. How could she give birth to such a cold-blooded and heartless son? Pushing our Jackie to death like this!"
Preston Pierce’s eyes were red as he complained. He’d seen a small part of the live stream, shown to him by a colleague at the company. When he saw Lucas Pierce hanging from a tree, Preston nearly worried himself to death.
Thinking back to what Lucas told him last night—no matter what happened today, he shouldn’t call him as it would ruin Lucas’s "big plans."
So, Preston forced himself not to call Lucas.
Later, when he saw Leon telling his son to die, Preston was almost driven to madness. If he had a knife and could kill without consequence, he would immediately hack Leon into pieces.
Leon, the bastard, not only failed to help his own mother’s relatives, but also spoke such cruel words—it’s simply unforgivable.
When the old man Price heard that Leon had pushed Lucas to his death, he thought Lucas was really dead and suddenly blacked out, passing out completely.
"Dad..."
Shirley Pearson was frightened, her mind went blank, and she didn’t dare to move the unconscious old man Price. The old man was quite elderly and had various health issues, and she wasn’t a doctor, so she didn’t dare to move him randomly.
With trembling fingers, Shirley dialed 911.
After making the call, she saw that the old man’s phone was still in the middle of a call. She picked it up and angrily asked, "Preston Pierce, what did you say to the old man to scare him into passing out?"
Preston deliberately exaggerated, not telling the old man that Lucas fell onto an air cushion from the tree and was still very much alive, intending for the old man to immediately call and berate Leon’s mother.
Leon’s mother would then harshly scold Leon.
Who knew that the old man couldn’t handle the fright?
"What did I say to my dad? What does it have to do with you? Are you in any place to question me? You better call an ambulance right now. If anything happens to my dad, I won’t let you off, Shirley Pearson."
Shirley was speechless with anger at Preston.
Preston was the most shameless person she’d ever met.
"You still remember the old man is your dad? You deliberately scared him into passing out? You’re right, I shouldn’t meddle. He’s your biological dad. If you don’t care about his life, why should I as the second daughter-in-law?"
"But your skin is thick enough. You alone scared him, so if anything happens, it’s your responsibility. How dare you say you won’t spare me?"
Preston argued unreasonably, "You married into the Price family, so you’re one of them. My dad is your dad too! If something happens to him at your house, it’s because you didn’t take good enough care of him, leaving him weak and unable to endure any shock. I certainly won’t let you off. Not just me, but the eldest and the third won’t spare you either."
"Preston, you shameless bastard, if you and the eldest have the guts to come to my place and bully me, try it? I’ve had enough of this home. I’d rather divorce Perry and be free of you people’s crap, don’t push me."
"Hahaha...divorce? You’re an old woman with no job and no pension. If you divorce the third, you’ll be left with nothing, not even a means to live. You’ll simply starve."
"My hands aren’t ruined, I’m not so old that I can’t move. If I don’t have a job, I can go find one. It’s better than staying in this house being bullied and dying of anger."
She hung up the phone.
Shirley cried in anger. Her hands were covered in white flour, and her palm and each finger were calloused from years of toil. Just before the old man Price fainted, she was still hand-rolling dumpling wrappers, making dumplings at home for him to eat.
In the eyes of the eldest and the third, all of this was probably what she was supposed to do, right? They had not an ounce of gratitude, especially the third, who never came on their turn to care for the old man, letting him stay at her place, and still had the nerve to say such things. She was truly fed up.
Shirley swore that when the old man’s visitation rotated every three months, she would no longer let the third shirk their duty. Even if Perry was unwilling, she’d still do it. She had no obligation to help the third’s family take care of the old man.
The ambulance arrived.
The old man Price woke up.
"Doctor, my grandson...has my grandson been saved? I need to see my grandson now...boohoo..." This was the first thing the old man Price said as he opened his eyes, grabbing the arm of the doctor closest to him.
The doctor was baffled and looked towards Shirley.
Shirley saw the old man half-awake and in a frenzy, and her heart went cold. When Sarah was young, she was pushed down a hill by Lucas back in their hometown and almost died, and the old man didn’t even spare a glance, let alone care. Yet now, over Lucas, it was as if the old man were having his heart torn out.
Shirley suddenly had a very bad thought and really wanted to see the scene where the old man saw Lucas dead.
This thought flashed briefly before disappearing; ultimately, she wasn’t that cold-hearted.
"Your grandson is saved. Stop worrying and just go with the doctors for your check-up!"
"My grandson is saved? Boohoo...that’s wonderful..." The old man Price was a mess of tears and snot as he cried, "I want to see my grandson right now, send me to my grandson’s hospital."
The doctor didn’t agree, and the old man Price made a fuss fiercely.
Shirley had no choice but to call the third and ask them to come fetch the old man.
"Shirley, are you crazy? My son is in the hospital right now, and I’m rushing to get there. You want me to pick up Dad? I’m warning you, don’t bother me, and don’t send Dad to Jackie’s hospital. Jackie is feeling terrible right now and is very annoyed by his grandfather’s noise."
Preston hung up, and Shirley was truly infuriated.
"Your third son refuses to come to get you and doesn’t want you to go."
Shirley spoke the truth.
The old man Price went berserk and grabbed whatever he could to throw at Shirley’s face, "You damn woman, I told you to send me to Jackie’s hospital, not to call the third son. How could he not want me to go? It’s you, a damn woman, being lazy and not wanting to send me there. I’ll hit you to death..."
"Old man, hitting people is wrong..."
The medical staff intervened to stop him.
"It’s none of your business. You don’t know how this damn woman abuses the elderly at home. I’m going to report her..."
Shirley’s forehead was swollen from the blow, and her eyes instantly reddened, "You and your third son are the same. Your conscience is eaten by dogs. Go ahead, report me!"
Shirley ran away crying.
The old man Price cursed and called Preston again. Preston didn’t answer, so he suddenly thought of Leon’s mother and dialed her number.
"Dad?"
"How dare you still call me Dad? My Jackie was driven to death by your son Leon Keane. Get over here, and send me to Jackie’s hospital."
