Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 391: Child, You Don’t Mind?
CHAPTER 391: CHAPTER 391: CHILD, YOU DON’T MIND?
Mrs. Taylor took out her phone, about to call a reporter from the TV station.
Daisy Taylor suddenly covered Mrs. Taylor’s phone, shaking her head a bit frantically: "Mom, don’t call..."
Mrs. Taylor looked at Daisy, bewildered: "What are you doing? You’re not brainwashed by Kiki, are you? This concerns your aunt’s life!"
Daisy felt a tingling at the roots of her hair. She knew it concerned her aunt’s life, but Kylie... Kylie herself was unwilling to come forward. Would it be of any use for Mom to tell the reporters now?
Others would think Mom fabricated lies to save Auntie, and even if Auntie saw it, she would think it was just a lie.
There was only one person who would take it seriously.
And that was Ivana Monroe.
Daisy had completely believed in Kiki, seeing Ivana as a vicious woman wanting to kill Kiki. What she feared was... if Ivana found out this news, she would come to her mom, demanding to know Kiki’s whereabouts.
Kiki was now unwilling to save even her biological mother, so would she come to save her own mom?
That was impossible.
"No, Mom, it’s not as simple as you think. Please, listen to me this time. Don’t make the call."
"You..."
Daisy snatched the phone from Mrs. Taylor’s hand and shut the door.
Mrs. Taylor’s eyes widened: "I didn’t take the key. Daisy Taylor, what exactly are you doing? Not letting Mom go home?"
Daisy said guiltily: "Dad must have the key on him. Let’s go find Auntie now. Maybe if we’re lucky, we can find her before Dad does."
Mrs. Taylor couldn’t go home now, so what could she do? She could only mess around with her daughter.
The mother and daughter went to find Kiki’s mom. Several times, Mrs. Taylor wanted Daisy to return her phone, but Daisy didn’t, saying it was safer with her.
The two searched until nearly dawn but still couldn’t find Kiki’s mom. Exhausted, Daisy called her father, who also hadn’t found her.
Daisy didn’t dare to tell her father about Kiki being alive. She said, "Dad, come back first! When Mom and I went out, we didn’t take the keys."
Father: "Okay."
In the middle of the night.
Mrs. Taylor tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. She looked at her father, who was exhausted and snoring like thunder. She didn’t wake him, silently thinking: Tomorrow, she’ll tell him about Kiki being alive and discuss what to do.
Mrs. Taylor was now anxious and clueless, her eyes red and swollen, hoping Kiki’s mom would return safely.
In her mind, Mrs. Taylor cursed Kiki harshly.
The old Kiki was truly the little princess of the Jennings family. Kiki’s father and mother gave this daughter all the best things. Who would’ve thought, at a critical moment, this daughter would be indifferent to her mother’s attempt to commit suicide?
Did a dog eat this child’s conscience?
Mount Cygnus Hospital, VIP ward.
Uncle Griffin came to the ward to check on Ivana Monroe.
"Uncle Griffin, how is my wife’s foot injury?" Leon Keane was right beside Uncle Griffin. Seeing him finish the examination, he asked.
"Recovering well. In three days, she can be discharged. During these three days, you can support her to get out of bed and walk slowly, which will greatly aid her recovery."
"Alright."
Ivana felt very happy hearing she could be discharged. All these days lying in the hospital bed, she was about to grow mold and forgot how it felt to walk on the ground.
She deeply missed the solid feeling of walking on steady ground.
"Leon Keane, come here, I have something personal I want to ask you."
After speaking, Uncle Griffin walked out of the ward.
"Wife, I’ll be right back."
Leon gently rubbed Ivana’s head, noticing her cheeks flushing slightly as she quietly dodged. With a faint smile, he turned and left the ward.
"Uncle Griffin."
Leon approached Uncle Griffin.
"Your... mother, how is she now? I last... saw her at Mount Cygnus Hospital too."
Uncle Griffin’s expression was very complex when he asked about Leon’s mother.
"As people age, they tend to develop some health issues. My mother is fine now." Seeing Uncle Griffin breathe a sigh of relief, Leon suddenly said, "If Uncle Griffin is concerned about my mother, you can visit her yourself."
Visit?
Uncle Griffin’s heart trembled fiercely.
He had thought of visiting her but feared gossip and that Leon might have thoughts, especially since there was once a story between him and Leon’s mother that wouldn’t sound good if spread.
Moreover, at his age, he didn’t want to trouble Leon with such matters.
Seeing Uncle Griffin’s hesitation, Leon said, "Actually, over the years, my mother has been quite lonely. Uncle Griffin, in my mother’s heart, you’re like family. Your visit would bring her warmth."
Uncle Griffin was surprised: "Child, you don’t mind?"
Leon smiled: "Mind what? My mother is getting older. I hope her remaining years are filled with more joy and warmth."
Uncle Griffin’s eyes instantly moistened. Leon spoke to his heart, as years passed and he grew older. What he pursued now was entirely different from what he did back then.
In the past, driven by youthful passion, he pursued love and career. When Leon’s mother chose Noel Kane, he had not forgiven her, even vowing never to want to see her again.
As time passed, Uncle Griffin no longer resented Leon’s mother. Later, when she accidentally brought a sick young Leon to his clinic, he saw her red eyes and felt compassion, wanting to quickly help her cure young Leon.
Thus, young Leon knew Uncle Griffin and called him Uncle Griffin.
Later, as Leon grew up, Uncle Griffin didn’t see Leon’s mother for a long time. During that time, he was busy with medical advancement, rarely thinking about his own wife, let alone Leon’s mother, who had married Noel Kane and had children.
Meeting Leon’s mother again some time ago, Uncle Griffin realized... the past didn’t matter anymore. What mattered was that she was still alive, and he could see her—that was enough.
Leon’s words stirred Uncle Griffin’s heart.
Uncle Griffin tentatively asked, "Your father... he... would he..."
A mysterious fire flickered in Leon’s eyes as he said, "I haven’t seen him in a long time."
Uncle Griffin was surprised, suddenly recalling rumors from many years ago when Noel Kane was in charge of the Keane Group, reports by the media about Noel keeping a mistress and neglecting his wife. He had thought those were merely social engagements exaggerated by the media.
Seeing Leon’s response, Uncle Griffin suddenly realized that those were true. That was why, whenever young Leon fell ill, it was always Leon’s mother who took him alone to Uncle Griffin for treatment.
