Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 398: Fate’s Cruel Game
CHAPTER 398: CHAPTER 398: FATE’S CRUEL GAME
Leon Keane was a bit stunned and did not answer the doctor’s question. From the actions of the nanny, she seemed foolish and selfish. Leon felt that it probably wasn’t Aunt Lee who told his mother to lie flat.
"How’s my mom now?" he asked.
"Oh, here’s the situation. Your mother has a cerebral displacement causing vascular tearing, which is a type of cerebral hemorrhage and requires surgery," the doctor explained honestly.
Leon’s mother turned pale upon hearing about the cerebral hemorrhage, considering her age and high blood pressure. If severe, a cerebral hemorrhage could lead to death. In the lucky event of survival, she would likely be bedridden or wheelchair-bound, speech impaired, and as vulnerable as a pitiful invalid.
Feeling a wave of fear, she trembled as she asked, "Doctor, will the surgery... affect my future mobility?"
She couldn’t even bear to say "become an invalid."
It felt like a curse.
The doctor comforted Leon’s mother with a professional smile, "Mrs. Keane, you’re very fortunate. After you fell, you remained lying down, and we arrived in time. We’ll arrange your surgery now. After the surgery, your quality of life won’t be affected. Rest assured and don’t worry. We are Ravenswood’s best hospital, and our neurosurgical expertise is very advanced. Think of it as just a minor surgery."
Hearing the doctor’s words, Leon’s mother let out a huge sigh of relief. She was really scared, thinking she would become an invalid.
Leon’s mother then recalled how in the hospital room, she had been shoved to the ground by Auntie Chamberlain, and the two nannies did nothing when they saw her fall. She was in pain and furious, almost driven mad, attempting to get up. It was Ivana Monroe who first called the bodyguard to get the doctor, and Ivana who asked Aunt Golding to come over to hold her down, stopping her from getting up.
To be precise, Ivana was her lifesaver.
Leon’s mother felt very complicated at the moment. She didn’t like Ivana, in fact, she extremely disliked her, yet this detestable person inadvertently saved her life.
Fate plays tricks!
Lost in her thoughts, Leon’s mother was wheeled into the operating room.
Leo Griffin hurried over, seeing Leon standing outside the operating room. The red light was already on. His heart tightened, "Leon, I just heard your mother fell here, causing a cerebral hemorrhage."
"Yes, Uncle Griffin, she is undergoing surgery now."
"It’ll be okay, she’ll come out safely soon."
Leo Griffin held Leon’s hand, as if giving him strength, though his palm felt damp, showing his inner tension.
Leon squeezed Leo’s hand.
"Yes, my mother has good fortune, nothing will happen."
Time passed by the minute and second.
The red light suddenly turned green.
In no time, Leon’s mother was pushed out by the doctor from the operating room.
Leon and Leo Griffin strode up to her.
"Mr. Griffin, isn’t today your day off? Why are you at the hospital?" The doctor pushing the stretcher looked surprised to see Leo Griffin.
"Skip the small talk. How is she?" Leo Griffin’s concerned gaze focused on Leon’s mother, who lay with her eyes closed, wearing an oxygen mask.
The doctor was quite surprised by Leo Griffin’s concern for Leon’s mother.
"The surgery was very successful, and Mrs. Keane will wake up soon," the doctor said.
"Good." Leo Griffin let out a breath, "Tell the head nurse to transfer Rita to her room to take good care of her."
"Oh, okay."
The doctor was more surprised. Rita was an excellent nurse at the hospital. Having her in Mrs. Keane’s room was without doubt due to President Kane’s status, but having her stay specifically to care for Mrs. Keane was unprecedented.
Leon’s mother was placed in a VIP room, just one room away from Ivana’s.
Leo Griffin and the newly assigned Rita were in Leon’s mother’s room.
At this moment, Leon was outside the room.
The bodyguard stood in front of Leon, handing him a video, "President Kane, here is the video that we just obtained."
Leon took the bodyguard’s phone but didn’t immediately watch it. He asked in a low voice, "Where are the two nannies that came with my mother?"
The bodyguard replied, "Auntie Chamberlain ran off, and Aunt Lee is tied up and waiting at the corner for you to deal with."
Auntie Chamberlain ran off?
She might have escaped, but there was still accountability to face.
He hoped the video didn’t show her mistreating Ivana too. He might still let Auntie Chamberlain off considering she had taken care of Ian for so many years.
Leon took the phone to Ivana’s room and saw Ivana sitting on the bed, seemingly unaffected, drawing design sketches. He twitched his lips.
When Leon came over, he envisioned Ivana upset and crying in the room, and he had even prepared comforting words for her.
But unexpectedly, Ivana hadn’t shed a tear and could still focus on her work.
"President Kane," Aunt Golding spoke up as Leon entered, somewhat uneasily, "Your mother..."
Ivana paused and put her pencil down, looking up to see Leon standing by the bedside.
Ivana was expressionless, but her tense eyes betrayed her.
Leon’s thin lips curled into a smile, breaking the tense atmosphere in the room, "It’s alright now."
He spoke lightly.
Auntie Chamberlain breathed a sigh of relief, "That’s good, that’s good."
She repeated it twice, truly fearing that anything happening to Leon’s mother would implicate the young lady.
How innocent the young lady was!
Injured, lying in the hospital room, and facing so many ordeals?
Ivana let out a slight breath, she didn’t say anything, lowered her head, and tried to focus on working again.
Leon snatched her pencil and moved the adjustable desk off the bed.
He sat beside Ivana, "Honey, let me show you something."
Leon took out the bodyguard’s phone.
Ivana’s expression turned red, then white, angrily glaring at Leon. There really was a camera installed in the room? Leon knew yet still kissed her, touched her, wanting to do that to her?
Wouldn’t it all be seen by the security staff in the monitoring room?
Ivana considered she could just about kill Leon, what an shameless beast.
Ivana bit her lip, assuming Leon was only threatening Aunt Lee to tell the truth.
She didn’t expect there actually was a recording.
Leon was startled by Ivana’s expression, "Honey, I’m showing you this video not for any other reason. I trust you very much. Otherwise, I wouldn’t bring the video into your room for us to watch together."
Leon feared Ivana might misunderstand him.
Ivana’s eyes turned slightly red, "Who said anything about that? Leon Keane, you shameless man, knowing there are cameras in the room, you still..."
Finding it hard to articulate.
Leon was puzzled, "What else did I do? Honey, make yourself clear!"
