Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 55: Receiving a Call from Leon Keane
CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55: RECEIVING A CALL FROM LEON KEANE
GK Style.
At the same time as Ivana Monroe kicked out the parasite Katherine, she had Jacobs gather all the people from the design department into the meeting room for a meeting.
"Who am I? I believe everyone sitting here already knows."
Ivana Monroe’s voice was powerful and resonant as she stood at the head of the meeting room, her hands resting on the long conference table, fully showcasing her leadership demeanor.
Everyone in the design department sat up straight, listening intently to Ivana Monroe as she conducted the meeting. Her tactic of driving Katherine away just now was ruthless.
Ivana Monroe’s gaze swept over the group, her expression serious as she said, "What I want to tell you now is that under my command, I don’t need sycophants like Katherine who know nothing but how to kiss up. I want to see your competence."
All the people in the design department inhaled sharply, with a few designers’ eyes gleaming brightly. They were talented individuals who had been suppressed by Katherine and could not showcase their true skills within the company. If it weren’t for Ivana Monroe taking over GK and giving them hope, they would have already decided to quit.
Under Katherine, they were nothing but dogs, taking orders from her.
Jacobs looked excitedly at Ivana Monroe, feeling an inspiring surge that he hadn’t felt in a long time. Now that Ivana Monroe was back, GK was once again transforming into the old GK. He believed that under Ivana’s excellent leadership, GK would get better and better, returning to the glorious moments of six years ago.
"I’ll select the most capable person among you to fill the vacancy left by Katherine. So, keep it up! Opportunities always belong to those who are prepared."
The meeting room erupted in warm applause, and everyone’s eyes on Ivana Monroe were filled with admiration and enthusiasm.
What they needed was a leader like Ivana Monroe, talented and capable. In this way, bootlickers trying to muddle through the company wouldn’t stand a chance, and those with true abilities could shine.
The meeting concluded.
Ivana Monroe had Jacobs stay behind. Once everyone had left, she told Jacobs, "I’ve been away for six years and am not yet familiar with the current situation of the company. Could you please organize the operational data of the past six years for me as soon as possible?"
Jacobs’ eyes lit up: "Okay, give me one day."
Ivana Monroe nodded.
Jacobs said excitedly again: "Ivana, everything you just said at the meeting was brilliant. I believe that now the few troublemakers in the design department mingling with Katherine will be forced to leave under immense pressure, and those who can stay are the ones truly capable of enduring pressure and have design talent."
Over the years, the design department has been a total mess because of Katherine.
The soul of GK Style lies in the design department. If the design department doesn’t do well, it’s as if the company has lost its soul, and over the years, the performance has become worse and worse every year.
Ivana Monroe smiled: "That’s exactly the result I want."
*
At two in the afternoon, Ivana Monroe’s phone rang.
When Ivana pulled it out to look, it showed Leon Keane’s incoming call. Her phone had been broken when it fell to the ground, and this was the phone Leon Keane had given her, which only had his number stored.
Ivana’s heart thumped hard. Why was Leon calling at this time?
Could it be that he needed a female companion so soon?
Ivana really didn’t want to pick up the call. She hesitated for a while, knowing that if the call went unanswered, it would automatically hang up, but the other party called again right away, as if they wouldn’t stop until it was picked up.
Ivana frowned slightly and reluctantly swiped the answer button with her finger.
"Why are you only answering now?" Leon Keane’s tone was clearly impatient.
"I was just... in the bathroom... it was inconvenient to answer." Ivana nervously told a little lie.
"Is that so?" Leon asked lightly without questioning her further. Then he said, "Get ready to accompany me to an event tomorrow night. I’ll send a car to pick you up."
Ivana’s fingers trembled, and the phone almost slipped from her hand. She instinctively grasped it tightly. This was happening too quickly; the promise he made to her hadn’t even been fulfilled yet.
Ivana didn’t have time to voice her question.
Leon added, "Everything you asked for has been copied to a USB drive. Tomorrow night, after the event, I’ll give you the items."
After a slight pause, he continued, "Tomorrow, I’ll arrange for a driver to take Timmy to the old house. He’s only six, and I don’t feel comfortable leaving him home alone."
The other party hung up the phone, and Ivana stood there holding the phone for a while before finally putting it away.
Ivana’s heart was pounding wildly. Thinking about being able to get what she wanted by tomorrow night, she couldn’t help but smile joyfully, then furrowed her brow.
Leon had arranged everything for Timmy and had thought everything through thoroughly. That’s true, but Ivana still felt resistant inside. Leon’s excessive concern for Timmy made her very uneasy.
She was afraid that Leon would take Timmy away from her.
**
As it was almost time for the kindergarten to end, Ivana put down her work and took a taxi to pick up Timmy Monroe at Wellbright Kindergarten.
The cab driver was surprised when he heard "Wellbright Kindergarten": "Wellbright Kindergarten isn’t a place an average family can get into. Just the tuition fees alone are intimidating. This lady must come from a wealthy family, right?"
Ivana frowned, pressed her lips together, and ignored the driver.
The driver’s words made her feel awkward.
The driver noticed through the rear-view mirror that Ivana’s expression wasn’t right and realized he had said the wrong thing. With an awkward laugh, he said, "Please don’t take offense, ma’am. I’m not trying to pry into your personal affairs, nor am I a bad person. I just wanted to remind you. A lady as beautiful as you and from such an affluent family, traveling without a private car or bodyguard, is very dangerous. Not every cab in Ravenswood has good intentions; some drivers have heavy gambling debts and may try to exploit you. If you get into their cab, you could be kidnapped."
Ivana was taken aback: "Thank you, driver. I understand. I will buy a car to pick up my child as soon as possible."
Realizing the driver’s good intentions, Ivana’s demeanor softened significantly, feeling very grateful for his reminder.
Although she didn’t have much money at the moment, "Wellbright Kindergarten" drew too much attention, and she couldn’t rule out the possibility that criminals might consider kidnapping.
The driver felt awkward. She would buy a car as soon as possible? She didn’t have a car? Without a car, her family would be considered impoverished in Ravenswood. How did her child get into "Wellbright Kindergarten"?
After getting off the taxi, Ivana waited at the gate of "Wellbright Kindergarten" for about fifteen minutes, watching parents holding their children’s little hands, gradually emerging from the kindergarten. Yet, Timmy’s tiny figure was nowhere to be seen.
Ivana frowned and waited a bit longer. By that time, only a few parents and children were coming out, almost everyone had been picked up, yet Ivana still hadn’t seen Timmy Monroe.
Suddenly, she panicked, and with a distressed expression, she ran into the kindergarten. Her heart was overwhelmed with anxiety. Leon had said he would pick up Timmy tomorrow night. If Leon hadn’t taken Timmy, why hadn’t Timmy come out yet?
