Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 560: Lost
CHAPTER 560: CHAPTER 560: LOST
"Where’s the money?"
The matriarch asked Mrs. Kane again. Seeing Mrs. Kane’s troubled expression, the matriarch frowned. This woman was as greedy as ever. If the Kanes’ financial chain weren’t in trouble, she would never have given the manor and the Dragon Bracelet to Mrs. Kane. Now that this woman sold them, did she not want to give her the money?
The matriarch’s face darkened. She would not allow this to happen.
"Give me the money. I need to buy back the manor and the Dragon Bracelet."
The matriarch’s tone was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.
"Mom, return the money that shouldn’t be taken to Grandma. If you need money, I can give it to you."
Mrs. Kane wanted to roll her eyes at Leon Keane. Give her money? He could barely help himself now, what money could he give her? Not to mention the amount wasn’t small; there was a gap of over two billion.
"I can’t come up with the money right now. It was just auctioned. The buyer hasn’t paid me. They applied for a bank freezing service and will only release the funds once the property title is transferred to them."
Mrs. Kane’s mind worked quickly. She suddenly thought of this and felt secretly relieved. Now this old lady couldn’t force her to hand over the money, could she?
"What? You actually allowed the buyer to apply for the freezing service?" The matriarch was almost infuriated by Mrs. Kane. A financial rupture needed funds urgently, and her actions were clearly harming the Kanes because transferring property titles takes time, especially for properties in Meridia, where efficiency is low.
"It’s such a large sum of money. How could they possibly transfer it immediately? Of course, there needs to be some security. Mom, be rational, okay?" Mrs. Kane said indifferently.
"Give me the buyer’s phone number." Leon suddenly said.
"What are you going to do?"
"Break the contract. I’ll pay the penalty. The manor was left for Grandma by Grandpa; it contains their past memories and can’t be sold."
It also carried memories of his childhood.
Like the matriarch, Leon held deep feelings for the manor too. Luckily, since the transfer hadn’t been completed, there was still time.
"Impossible." Mrs. Kane’s voice was a bit flustered and angry. In her heart, she was particularly annoyed. This son just always opposed her. Ivana Monroe must have led Leon astray; he wasn’t like this before.
Mrs. Kane felt sad and distressed. Perhaps sensing her own loss of composure, she made another excuse: "The breach penalty is very high, as much as a billion. Right now, the Kanes’ financial chain can’t be filled, so where is the money to pay the breach penalty?"
Tears glistened in the matriarch’s eyes as she looked at Leon Keane, deeply moved. This precious grandson of hers was truly kind and filial. If it hadn’t been for letting Ivana Monroe act recklessly, causing the Kanes’ financial chain to break, how could she bear to take the Kanes away from his hands?
"I will personally negotiate with them. Believe me, the value I can offer them won’t be as simple as just a billion," Leon said confidently. "Give me their phone number."
Anyone who could afford to buy Grandma’s manor and the Dragon Bracelet must own a listed company; as long as it’s a company, Leon could win them over.
However, Leon did not yet know that the buyer wasn’t concerned about money at all.
"I lost it,"
Mrs. Kane shook her head. No matter what Leon said, she would never give it to him.
Giving it to him would be the end.
"Forget it." The matriarch wiped away her tears and said, "Sold is sold. Once the money arrives, immediately transfer it to me. I’ll take a moment of silence at an overseas nursing home. Now book me a flight ticket."
The matriarch no longer pursued the matter, still thinking of the Kanes. This money could fill the financial gap.
"Okay, I’ll book a ticket for you right away, Mom."
Mrs. Kane promptly responded to the matriarch, eager to escape quickly.
"Grandma, I will retrieve the manor and the Dragon Bracelet for you."
Leon said as the elderly lady turned to leave.
The matriarch paused, her aged body slightly trembling. She sighed, "No need."
Mrs. Kane was going to book the earliest flight for the matriarch, to quickly send the old thing away, fearing she’d continue to pursue the money. But then she thought, if the matriarch left, who would deal with Ivana? Now that the old thing believed the sale money was frozen in the bank, she should seize this opportunity to defeat Ivana.
But... her own son didn’t side with her.
What to do?
"Have you booked the ticket?" the matriarch asked.
Mrs. Kane randomly pressed a button for a ticket three days later: "Yes, it’s booked, Mom. It’s for three days from now."
"Why so late? I want to leave now."
"Don’t be in such a hurry to leave! Don’t you want to see Ian? In these three days, I’ll have Ian come to accompany you."
The matriarch fell silent. Thinking of Ian, her face showed reluctance.
The older she got, the more she enjoyed seeing the children because she wasn’t sure how much longer she’d be in this world. She wanted to spend more time with her descendants in her remaining days.
"And also bring Little Timmy over."
The matriarch adored Timmy Monroe. The little guy just returned to the Kane family to reunite with her. If possible, she truly wished to keep Little Timmy by her side forever. This was a debt owed to the little boy by the Kane family.
"Bring over Ivana Monroe?!" Mrs. Kane muttered discontentedly to herself.
"What did you say?"
"That child is very clingy to Ivana. Mom, are you not going to deal with Ivana? Don’t forget, it was Ivana who personally ruined the Kanes. Doesn’t Mom care anymore?" Mrs. Kane spoke harshly. "You only know how to get annoyed with Leon and even took back the Kanes from him. What’s the point of doing that? That vicious bitch Ivana might seize the opportunity to make us look bad in front of Leon again."
"Mom, the older you get, the more muddled you become."
Mrs. Kane was upset and scolded the matriarch.
The matriarch’s face turned livid. "What do you know? I’m doing this to force Leon, to make him feel the pain of leaving the Kanes. If Leon can’t figure it out, no one can do anything about him. Don’t you know your own son’s character?"
Of course, Mrs. Kane knew, but she wouldn’t admit it. "He’s just been bewitched by that fox, Ivana."
Mrs. Kane added, "I think we can’t rely on Leon anymore. It’s better to call Ivana over tomorrow, force her to sign a divorce agreement, and I’ll get a lawyer to immediately get the divorce certificate processed and throw her out."
"Without Leon at the Civil Affairs Bureau, can you process a divorce certificate?" the matriarch asked.
"Money can make the devil turn the mill. Leave it to me."
Mrs. Kane assured, patting her chest.
The matriarch tiredly closed her eyes. "Do as you please!"
On the other side.
After Mrs. Kane and the matriarch left, Leon opened the computer, fingers tapping rapidly on the keyboard, searching for the buyer of the manor. He immediately called the other party.
"Hello, I’m Leon Keane. The manor and the Dragon Bracelet can’t be sold to you. I can compensate you for your losses."
The other party was momentarily stunned.
After a moment, they said, "Hello, Mr. Kane. I don’t care who you are. The manor and the Dragon Bracelet have already been sold. The money was also transferred to you. It’s too late to go back on the deal now. We don’t want your compensation; we’re interested in the items."
