Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart
Chapter 592: Why?
CHAPTER 592: CHAPTER 592: WHY?
Leon’s mother remained silent. If she had known beforehand that Mr. Price would change his mind and Lucas Pierce would behave like this, she wouldn’t have given Lucas that much money. These grandfather and grandson duo can’t be described as ungrateful; they are simply bloodsucking vampires devoid of any conscience.
At this moment, Leon’s mother wouldn’t dare to offend Mr. Price and Lucas Pierce. She’s made up her mind that once Leon arrives tomorrow, she’ll use every possible means to get the money from the bank. Apart from "returning" the ten thousand to Lucas Pierce, she won’t give a single penny more.
Leon’s mother, having gone through this ordeal, realized thoroughly.
Leon returned home, with Ivana by his side. He slept very soundly, for a full ten hours, waking only by eight the next day.
"Awake?" Ivana accompanied Leon: "Why not sleep a little more?"
After returning yesterday, he was utterly exhausted, with a hint of worry between his brows, a look Ivana had never seen on his face before. Ivana couldn’t fathom why, since Leon’s mother had returned to Ravenswood, he should be relieved. Did something happen that she wasn’t aware of?
Leon didn’t say anything, nor did Ivana ask further questions.
Because some matters, when inquired about, serve no purpose other than to add to Leon’s burdens, just like when he went to the remote island in F Country to find his mother. She couldn’t offer any help, nor was it possible for her to contribute; knowing is better than not knowing.
Ivana vaguely sensed that the troubles concerning Leon were indeed related to his mother.
"I have something to do, need to go out for a while." Leon got up, dressed, and said to Ivana, who was getting up: "Since you’re pregnant, you should rest more. If you’re bored, you can invite Fawn to play cards with Grandma."
"Does Grandma enjoy playing cards?" Ivana asked.
"She does. When abroad, she often played cards with some good domestic friends. When Grandpa was alive, he would play with Grandma too. My mother isn’t fond of playing cards, so in Ravenswood, Grandma hardly plays."
Speaking of his mother, Leon’s gaze suddenly lost its light, with his pupils slightly expanding, as if recalling something again.
He instinctively raised his hand, touched his pocket, in the clothes worn to F Country’s remote island, containing the "Talisman for Cursing Spirit".
Ivana caught his expression and slight actions, puzzled by what was in Leon’s pocket.
"Alright, I quite like playing cards too. I will join Grandma for some games."
Ivana smiled at Leon: "Then make sure you return soon!"
"Mm."
Leon nodded, looked at Ivana tenderly, planted a kiss on her forehead, and turned to leave.
"You little rascal, just returned and now leaving again so early? Stay and accompany my granddaughter-in-law."
The Dowager sat at the dining table, waiting for Ivana and Leon to get up for breakfast together, but she didn’t expect Leon to run out without eating breakfast, making her somewhat dissatisfied.
"Grandma, Leon truly has matters to attend to. He promised me he’d return early, so let him go!" Ivana came out and, hearing the Dowager’s voice, promptly said: "Grandma, I heard from Leon that you enjoy playing cards. We will join you, Fawn and I, for some games later!"
The Dowager rolled her eyes at Leon, then turned around, laughing heartily: "A granddaughter-in-law like this is good, willing to accompany an old lady like me."
The Dowager, revitalized, said: "Quickly come for breakfast, after breakfast, we’ll immediately play cards."
Ivana’s words triggered the Dowager’s urge, who, before coming to Ravenswood, would often play cards for half a day or the whole day intermittently. Not having played once since arriving in Ravenswood.
The Dowager beckoned Ivana, then noticed a sleepy-eyed Fawn coming out of the room and gestured to her: "Fawn, come for breakfast now, after that, we’ll play cards together."
Fawn rubbed her eyes: "Cards? Dowager, what card games do you play? I’m telling you, Ivana and I are card game experts, you might not be our match!"
The Dowager was slightly surprised but inherently competitive, scoffing; She’s played cards for most of her lifetime, how old are Ivana and Fawn? Have they played cards as long as she has?
Fawn, little rascal, only boasting in front of this old lady, boasting in front of someone akin to Lord Guan wielding a big sword — vulnerable.
"Young ones should avoid boasting prematurely; soon you might be the ones crying over losses."
"Haha... Just kidding."
Ivana looked at the Dowager and Fawn, both unwilling to lose, smiling and shaking her head.
After the trio finished breakfast.
Fawn took the cards from Aunt Golding, saying while shuffling: "Loser must stick a note on their face, Dowager, do you dare?"
The Dowager widened her eyes; she’d only played for golden beans before, regardless of winning or losing. What idea does that cheeky girl Fawn have now, sticking notes?
"Ha... Dowager, not speaking up, are you scared?"
"Am I scared? I’m worried more for your shame."
"I don’t mind! Ivana and I often play cards abroad, whoever loses sticks notes on the face, we’re used to it." Ivana was always the least marked one whenever they played.
"Stick then, who’s afraid?" The Dowager said reluctantly.
"Well, Dowager, you truly have guts."
Fawn gave the Dowager a thumbs up.
The Dowager glared at Fawn.
Ivana: "..."
Leon drove to the Price family.
This was an upscale residential area. Lucas Pierce had used the money Leon’s mother gave him to buy this house outright. Leon had visited once at his mother’s strong insistence when Lucas moved into the new home, bringing a solid gold ox as a gift.
Taking the elevator, he quickly reached Lucas Pierce’s doorstep.
Leon extended his long fingers, ringing the doorbell.
After about five seconds, the door opened.
The door was opened by Lucas Pierce: "Leon, you’re here! Come in, your mother is inside!"
Leon maintained a cold, handsome face, not saying a word to Lucas, and directly walked inside, seeing his mother sitting on the couch watching TV.
Lucas shut the door, his expression spoiled by Leon’s attitude. Leon, what’s he worth? Showing disrespect? Despite everything, he’s doing fairly well now, valued at over a billion.
If Leon went bankrupt, he’d definitely step on Leon’s face with his shoes, teaching this arrogant guy a heavy lesson.
Lucas dared to be angry but stayed silent, returning beside Leon’s mother.
The television showed a video of Ivana bullying Leon’s mother.
Upon seeing Leon arrive, tears welled in his mother’s eyes, as if she was under immense grievance: "Leon, for the sake of a woman, are you really disregarding my nurturing grace, wanting to drive me to death?"
Leon furrowed his brow, his fingers trembling slightly as he pulled out a talisman from his pocket, tossing it before his mother, his voice hoarse: "Why?"
