Final Life Online
Chapter 67: Idonotfear
CHAPTER 67: IDONOTFEAR
In another sector of Nomonabg City—one of the shining hubs in Final Life Online—the air carried no scent of rust or decay. Here, wealth was the architecture’s foundation. Towering glass-fronted buildings reflected streams of neon, their façades shifting colors with each passing minute. Massive digital billboards played looping adverts for high-end guilds, rare item auctions, and luxury skill mods that most players could only dream of affording.
This was Lusum Boulevard, the entertainment and luxury district where time cost money, and every second felt like a transaction.
A large crowd had gathered near the steps of The Paragon Hall—a towering arena where the city’s top-ranked PvE and PvP challengers fought for prestige, sponsors, and the occasional legendary drop. The reason for the crowd’s murmur wasn’t today’s event, though. It was someone emerging from the arena gates.
She looked unremarkable at first glance—a lean teenage girl, maybe seventeen, her boots scuffed and coat plain compared to the polished armor and jeweled outfits worn by the boulevard’s elite. Her posture was loose, casual, almost bored. And yet... every step she took cleared a path through the crowd without a word spoken.
Maya Reckner.
In the public rankings, she was a mid-tier player. Someone who wandered into high-risk dungeons seemingly for thrills instead of rewards. But Rhys knew the name hidden under her public handle: Idonotfear.
Human, yes—but she moved like a predator that had no need to prove its dominance. Her amber eyes swept lazily across the onlookers... until they found a man who’d been staring a second too long.
He froze.
If Rhys had been here, he would have noticed the subtle shimmer in her pupils—not from any visual enhancement mod, but from something far rarer.
A hidden-class Ancient Tamer.
And not just any—one of the Beast Sovereigns, capable of commanding creatures whose data had long been scrubbed from the game’s standard bestiary.
She tilted her head, lips quirking in a small, private smile.
"Still breathing? Good. You’ll be more interesting that way."
The man’s face paled, and he took a shaky step back.
For a single heartbeat, the shadows pooling beneath Maya’s boots rippled—not with reflections, but with shapes that didn’t belong to the world’s textures at all. Fangs. Eyes. A low, bone-deep growl that made nearby avatars’ health bars flicker for no visible reason.
The crowd instinctively widened the gap around her. Without breaking stride, Maya stepped off the arena stairs and into the boulevard’s streaming crowds. As quickly as she’d appeared, she was swallowed by the neon-lit chaos, leaving only the memory of her presence—and the faint, lingering sense that something hungry had just walked past.
Arriving at another location, Maya glanced back to make sure no one was following her. Seeing the empty street, she let out a small sigh of relief."Damn... to think I’d get a hidden class," she muttered.
Her hidden class—Ancient Tamer—was the same one Rhys possessed.
Above her head, her name floated in glowing text: Idonotfear. She stared at it for a moment before smirking faintly."Ancient Tamer... I wonder how rare they are."
It was different from how she should have been gained the class, Originally, She had obtained her class in an unusual way. It hadn’t been from a standard questline or a guild reward, but from something far more obscure. In the beginning, she got killed and her progress was reset to zero leading her back to beginner village and from there she took a little-known quest that eventually led her to the class.
At that time, she had been given an Ancient Twilight Slime—a rare creature combining ancient darkness and ancient light magic.
But now her main companion was an Epic-tier beast: a Night Fangs wolf, a long-forgotten species from the old bestiary. She had earned it in the Tower, where she had been trapped during an event dungeon. At the end, she had won a gamble spin that allowed her to choose from several sealed beast eggs—and she had chosen Night Fangs without hesitation.
The Night Fangs had a powerful Wereform, and together with it, Maya had taken Ancient Tamer as her secondary class, while her primary class remained Sun Warrior.
If Rhys had been here, he would have been shocked—not at the coincidence of their matching hidden class, but at how she had gained it. Her path to Ancient Tamer was completely different from what he thought he knew about her. Even if he did nothing extraordinary, his very existence was already shifting the future he once knew.
Maya, meanwhile, was deep in thought about her new class. The more she read about the Ancients, the more she wanted to know. She decided to head back to the library to dig deeper into the subject.
After three hours of research, she sat in the quiet reading hall of the upper floors, surrounded by stacks of heavy tomes. A small wolf pup lay curled in her lap, fast asleep. It was a newborn—recently hatched from its beast egg—and she gently stroked its fur.
"Little one... I can already tell you’ll be a great companion," she whispered.
She glanced at the pup’s stats, eyes widening at how they already outclassed some Rank 1 beasts she had encountered. This one wasn’t an ordinary creature—It can even be said to be better than the Legendary beast companions on the forums she have seen.
"But to make the best use of my class, I need to find more Ancient beasts," she murmured. "I’m Rank 2 now, but this Night Fangs wolf is still my very first Ancient beast. I need more... and each one should be stronger than the last."
She paused, considering her options. She could tame rare beasts that weren’t Ancient, but none of them would compare to the power of a true Ancient beast when she finally gathered them.
"Or... maybe I can use the forums to ask about them," she mused, her amber eyes glinting with ambition. Somewhere out there, among billions of players, were answers—and she intended to use this big player base to learn about the Ancient beasts location.
Maya tapped open the global forums, her fingers flying across the holographic keyboard as she posted a carefully worded thread in the "Beasts & Taming" category:
[Seeking Knowledge] — Looking for info on Ancient Beast spawn locations. Will pay in gold for confirmed leads.
She attached a screenshot of her guildless status and hid her class title, making the post look like it came from a curious mid-level tamer with too much pocket change. Within minutes, the replies started rolling in—half of them were trolls, the rest were wild rumors with no proof. Still, she bookmarked a few that had enough detail to be worth checking later.
By the next morning, her thread had blown up. The upvotes were high, but the comments were mixed—most were useless, but a few users sent her private messages with more... intriguing offers.
One in particular caught her eye. The sender’s name was hidden behind a burner account with no visible level, guild, or PvP record. Their message read:
"Since you are asking about Ancient beast, it means you got the Hidden Class related to them, lest meet I also have an class related to them. Maybe we can exchange informations and also class setaials that benefist us both".
Maya’s eyes narrowed. The phrasing was too specific to be a lucky guess. Whoever this was, they weren’t just some random scavenger looking to scam her—they knew things that should have been impossible to know.
She leaned back in her chair, idly stroking the wolf pup in her lap.
"Well... guess I’ve been found out."
Her mind raced.
If what he said was true, then she wasn’t just the only one with the class.
Should I even meet him? she wondered. Better to test if this was legitimate first.
Maya: "Can you give me an Ancient beast?"
For a moment that felt like the longest minute of her life, there was no reply. Then a message appeared:
Unknown: "I guess it’s normal to be suspicious. How about I give you an Ancient Slime to prove I’m not lying?"
Maya’s eyes widened. She wondered if its true or just an bait.
Maya: "What’s the price?"
Unknown: "Let’s just say I want you in my team. I have the class too, and I know exactly how rare Ancient beasts are. Mythical beasts? Each server has a handful at most. Ancients? Even rarer. I can help you find more, but all I ask is that you join me."
Maya frowned.
Is this for guild? Or something bigger?
Maya: "What guild are you from?"
Unknown: "None. I’m just a single player who wants to start my own guild."
He was trying to sound casual, but his wording told her he had been searching for her for a while. He clearly knew her handle—Idonotfear—and had even managed to confirm her hidden class somehow.
Maya: "First, send me the stats of the slime you’re talking about. Then we can talk."
