Fire Chief vs. Surgeon: A Tale of Relentless Pursuit
Chapter 567: Watch Me Tear Her Apart
CHAPTER 567: CHAPTER 567: WATCH ME TEAR HER APART
Over at the family residential building, Lu Jing hastily took a shower and washed his hair on top of it.
After all, he’d just caught a flight, and not washing would be incredibly uncomfortable.
Jiang Ye carried food inside just as Lu Jing came out of the bathroom, his head wrapped in a towel cap and wearing only a pink bathrobe. Hearing the noise, he looked up and said,
"Back already?"
"Yeah, dinner’s pretty good tonight, it’s got your favorite sweet and sour ribs."
Knowing his wife liked them, he’d specially ordered extra.
Upon hearing this, Lu Jing smiled,
"Really?"
"Of course, go change your clothes, then come and eat after you’re dressed.
So wet, what does that look like?"
Having just showered and washed his hair, of course he’d be wet.
But clearly, the man was worried about him catching cold if he stayed damp for too long, which was why he was hurrying him along.
Lu Jing didn’t want to bother responding and headed for the bedroom.
He wasn’t a child who needed reminding by an adult.
It took a few minutes before Lu Jing returned from the room, now dressed in clothes, a slim-fit, cream-colored turtleneck sweater and a pair of jeans that perfectly accentuated his good figure, though he hadn’t dried his hair yet and still had it wrapped in the towel cap.
Jiang Ye was feeling quite warm just looking at him, thankful they were at home. Once they stepped outside, he’d definitely need to put on a down jacket anyway.
And as for going to the hospital, there’d be a white coat, so he wasn’t that worried.
Otherwise, his jealousy might just flare up again.
After Lu Jing sat down, Jiang Ye didn’t join him but instead took a hair dryer from the cabinet nearby:
"You eat, my wife, I’ll dry your hair for you."
Lu Jing wouldn’t refuse such an offer.
Having someone help dry your hair was great and saved time, too.
It’s just the person doing it was a bit rough, occasionally pulling at the scalp painfully.
Hiss.
"Be gentle, it’s pulling."
"Ah, sorry."
He would ease up each time he was told, but then revert back, and by the end, Lu Jing was too lazy to say more.
It wasn’t unbearably painful, anyway.
After quickly finishing dinner, there were about ten minutes left before work started.
Lucky someone helped dry his hair, otherwise, he would’ve had to go out with it still damp.
"I’m leaving."
"Don’t rush, let me walk you."
"No need, it’s not far."
Just diagonally across the door, isn’t it?
But how could Jiang Ye be persuaded?
He might agree to other things, but not this one.
He insisted on dragging his wife out the door and then escorted her all the way to the hospital’s main entrance.
"Go in, call me if you need anything."
Lu Jing made an affirmative noise and ran off.
Mainly because he really was running out of time.
....
He rushed to his department and finally stopped to catch his breath.
"Oh, Doctor Lu has arrived?"
"Nurse Director, you’re on the night shift tonight?"
"Indeed, we’re on shift together again. By the way, how’s your elder family member’s health now?"
"Yes, much better, thank you."
The Nurse Director smiled:
"Being formal with me?"
The two had a good relationship, definitely not one that required excessive politeness.
So, the next second, Lu Jing pulled her to a corner:
"Nurse Director, can I ask you about something?"
"What is it?"
The Nurse Director involved in Xiao Tang’s incident was none other than this one right here.
There she was, so naturally, he had to ask.
"Well, it’s about Xiao Tang’s issue." He felt a bit awkward.
After all, he was bringing it up to her face.
Fortunately, the Nurse Director took it in stride and even chuckled:
"Oh, I thought it was something serious. Just that, huh? If I knew who was stirring up trouble behind the scenes, see if I wouldn’t tear her apart!"
