CHAPTER 339: CHAPTER 339: STILL IN LOVE WITH CALEB LOCKWOOD

Serena Jennings was taken aback and laughed.

"I never knew, Dr. Winters, that you’re so idealistic!"

"This isn’t idealism... it’s having a childlike heart. Didn’t you watch ’Sleeping Beauty’ when you were a kid?"

Listening to Warren Winters speak so assertively, Serena lowered her gaze, her eyes falling on Caleb Lockwood.

Caleb Lockwood was still in a coma, looking truly like Sleeping Beauty, sleeping peacefully.

This face, indeed, had matured much compared to the boy in the juvenile detention center she remembered.

However, the basic features hadn’t changed, and he was easily recognizable.

Serena admitted that she had changed a lot compared to her middle school days.

In other words, as long as Serena visited Caleb every day, he might wake up one day.

In Serena’s memory, Lance had never asked her for anything.

Simply visiting Caleb every day was a small task for her.

But that was all she could do.

As Serena turned to leave, someone suddenly grabbed her hand.

Her heart skipped a beat, and Serena’s eyes widened.

In this room, there was only her... and Caleb.

Turning sharply, Serena looked at Caleb lying on the bed.

"...Don’t leave..."

Caleb was lying there with his eyes closed, his brows furrowed, not looking fully conscious.

"Don’t leave... my wife..."

Serena wanted to shake off Caleb’s hand.

But despite Caleb’s fragile appearance, his grip was strong.

"Are you messing with me, Caleb?"

Serena was frustrated.

Serena forcefully shook off Caleb’s hand and slapped his face.

She didn’t hold back, and the sound of the slap echoed through the room.

Serena assumed that after this, Caleb would surely wake up.

However, Caleb still didn’t open his eyes.

His brows remained tightly furrowed, and he continued muttering.

"Wife... don’t... don’t leave me..."

Caleb’s hand was still moving slightly.

But it seemed he was indeed searching for Serena.

"Who is your wife?"

Serena disdainfully swatted away Caleb’s reaching hand.

She remembered the three years she was married to Caleb, always calling him "husband," but he never called her "wife."

So now, Serena didn’t believe that Caleb’s "wife" was meant for her.

Unable to determine what Caleb’s current reaction meant, she directly contacted a doctor.

The doctor wasn’t from the Lockwood family’s usual lineup but was introduced by Warren Winters.

Serena suspected Caleb might be conspiring with the doctor to deceive her, so she brought in a friend of Warren to re-examine Caleb.

Serena thanked the doctor and saw them out from the Lockwood family home.

Upon returning, she saw Lance Lockwood’s haggard face looking worried in the open study on the second floor.

Serena herself was feeling uneasy.

She returned to Caleb’s room and searched for psychogenic coma on her phone.

Indeed, it was a mental illness.

It was a condition without organic physiological changes, triggered by intense psychological stress, emotional conflict, or mental trauma.

The patient appeared comatose, yet all objective tests like EEG, CT, MRI showed normal results.

"No wonder..."

Arthur Lockwood and Lilian Young had humbled themselves, pleading for her to remarry Caleb.

Serena thought if she now told Caleb she was willing to remarry him, perhaps Caleb might actually wake up.

Somehow, Serena felt a surge of anger and left without looking back.

At the doorway, she vaguely heard Caleb’s murmurs:

"Wife... don’t go..."

After greeting Lance Lockwood, Serena left the Lockwood family home.

Before she could reach her car, a familiar vehicle approached and stopped in front of her.

A white Lexus—

It was Ethan White’s car.

Ethan was indeed the one who got out.

Despite the usual gentle smile on Ethan’s face, Serena instinctively avoided making eye contact with him.

For some reason, she felt a pang of guilt, as if she’d been caught doing something wrong.

"Why... why are you here?"

"I’m here to see you."

Ethan answered straightforwardly.

Serena thought Ethan probably already knew she had been visiting the Lockwood family home daily to see Caleb.

"Come in my car, I have something to talk to you about."

Serena did not refuse Ethan and got into his car.

The white Lexus smoothly drove away from the Lockwood family home.

The ride was stable, but the atmosphere inside was heavy.

Ethan said he wanted to talk to Serena, yet after driving a long way, he finally spoke leisurely:

"I heard from Amelia that you’ve been visiting the Lockwood family home daily recently, is something wrong with Caleb?"

His voice was calm when he asked.

While Serena was searching for words, Ethan added:

"Other than something being wrong with Caleb, I can’t think of anything else that would draw you there daily."

"It’s not like that, Ethan..."

Serena attempted to explain but was interrupted by Ethan:

"Serena, do you still love Caleb?"
