CHAPTER 319: CHAPTER 319: HONEY, WHEN WILL YOU BE BACK (1)

"You woman, why do you always take things so seriously? Not cute at all!" Faced with Ruan Pianran’s sarcasm, Mi Jing rolled her eyes unceremoniously and retorted without showing weakness.

"I’m not cute. Later, you can come back with me and eat instant noodles." Ruan Pianran had a nonchalant expression, speaking in a relaxed and casual tone, but it instantly intimidated Mi Jing.

Instant noodles?

Although the instant noodles at Kang’s house tasted quite good, they were far inferior to Ruanruan’s tomato and egg noodles. As a foodie, Mi Jing had always lacked backbone when it came to facing delicious food.

"Ruanruan, you are the cutest, the best. You definitely, definitely won’t let me eat instant noodles." Mi Jing’s face instantly blossomed into a smile, and she snuggled up to Ruan Pianran’s arm, smoothly saying flattering words.

Suddenly, Ruan Pianran wanted to laugh, feeling that Mi Jing’s current look was truly undeniable!

It’s always like this, no matter how intense their quarrels get, as soon as food is mentioned, Mi Jing would always "surrender" first, then say all kinds of pleasing words to appease her, just like now, utterly without backbone but extremely cute.

"Depends on my mood." Ruan Pianran stifled her laughter, deliberately put on airs, not looking at Mi Jing, and turned her face to look at the dim night outside, speaking coolly.

"What would make you feel better? Seeing me looking so pitiful, can’t you sympathize with me?" Mi Jing grimaced, pretending to be pitiful.

"Mi Jing, can you be any more gutless?" Ruan Pianran glanced at Mi Jing, her eyes filled with contempt.

"Of course, as long as you’re happy." Mi Jing nodded without hesitation.

"Start driving." Ruan Pianran couldn’t help but laugh, her mood was really good at this moment.

"Alright, Your Ladyship. Please fasten your seatbelt, I’ll start driving immediately." Mi Jing said mischievously, causing Ruan Pianran to laugh even more happily.

On the mountain road, there were numerous twists and turns, without any streetlights, pitch dark, so Mi Jing drove particularly carefully, slower than usual.

"Ruanruan, why do I feel this place is quite scary today, I’ve never felt like this before!" Mi Jing murmured while driving.

"That’s because you used to come here with a large group, now it’s just the two of us. You’re so timid, feeling scared is normal."

"What do you mean timid! Aren’t you scared? If someone suddenly ran out now, you’d be terrified too!" Hearing Ruan Pianran call her timid, Mi Jing instantly got excited, turned her head, looking at Ruan Pianran defiantly.

"Watch out! Up ahead!"

Ruan Pianran stared ahead, suddenly her slightly raised lips stiffened, her eyes widened, shouting with all her might.

Upon hearing this, Mi Jing quickly turned her head and abruptly saw a man sitting in the middle of the road!

Bang bang—

Mi Jing’s heartbeat suddenly accelerated, an overpowering sense of nervousness and fear surged in, flustered, but in a flash, Mi Jing quickly stepped on the brakes!

Screech—

A sharp emergency brake sound broke the night’s silence, luckily the car wasn’t fast, it stopped quickly.

"Ruanruan, did I hit anyone?" Mi Jing, still trembling, saw the car was about a meter away from the man, yet this question escaped her mouth without thinking.

"No." Ruan Pianran, having been frightened as well, had calmed down now, answered calmly.

"So what do we do now? Is he injured? Why don’t we get out and check?" Mi Jing asked nervously.

"Don’t get out! What if he has bad intentions?" Ruan Pianran was more composed and cautious than Mi Jing, worried they might encounter a bad guy, hence reluctant to get out recklessly.

Upon hearing this, Mi Jing’s curiosity immediately faded, her face turned a bit blank, not knowing how to handle the current situation.

"Honk the horn." Ruan Pianran looked at the man ahead again. Under the headlights, she vaguely saw a painful expression on his face, but couldn’t rule out the possibility of the man faking injury to trick them into getting out, so she decided to test him.

Beep beep—

Following Ruan Pianran’s suggestion, Mi Jing honked the horn, hearing the sound, the man waved at them, then propped his hands on the ground, trying to stand up, but his legs seemed weak, tried several times without standing up.

"He seems really hurt!" Seeing the man’s struggling state, Mi Jing’s compassion began to rise.

"I don’t think so." Ruan Pianran’s voice was cold, her eyes like X-rays scanning the man, a few seconds later, she raised a question, "In such dark conditions, he’s here alone climbing a mountain?"

"Some people like adventure, it’s not impossible." Mi Jing said.

"But if he really is an outdoor enthusiast, at least he’d carry a backpack for his stuff, right?" Ruan Pianran pointed out another doubt.

"Maybe he got robbed and beaten."

"Notice, his clothes aren’t torn, no signs of fighting or being beaten visible."

"Seems like it." Mi Jing agreed, nodding, then asked blankly, "What now?"

"..."

Ruan Pianran didn’t speak, her quiet demeanor suggested she was thinking seriously, seeing this, Mi Jing didn’t continue questioning and patiently waited for her to come up with a plan.

After a while, Ruan Pianran made a move, she pressed a button on the car door, lowering the window slightly, and shouted outside, "Are you injured? Should we call an ambulance for you?"

"I...I’m injured, please...take me to the hospital." The man said intermittently, his voice hoarse, unclear if it was originally like this or due to his injury, enduring pain causing it to sound raspy.

The night was dark, the breeze gentle, the man’s helpless voice scattered into the quiet night, under the headlights, Mi Jing and Ruan Pianran saw intense pleading in his eyes.

"He really seems hurt, Ruanruan, should we help him?" Mi Jing’s compassion was almost overflowing, wanting to lend a hand to the man.

"Wait!" Ruan Pianran quickly grabbed Mi Jing’s arm, worried she might impulsively open the car door and get out, so she didn’t let go immediately, holding Mi Jing’s arm she said, "Let’s clarify the situation first."

Ruan Pianran’s expression was serious and stern, Mi Jing knew she still had concerns, nodded, agreeing with her decision.

Their gazes returned outside, the man was already lying on the ground, seeing this, Ruan Pianran slightly lowered the window again and asked, "Where are you hurt?"

"Leg."

"How did it happen?"
