CHAPTER 320: CHAPTER 320: HONEY, WHEN WILL YOU BE BACK (2)
"I... I was just... just robbed, the thief... hit my leg," the man said with difficulty, his facial expression slightly contorted, as if he was enduring pain.
"You shouldn’t die for now. We’ll call an ambulance for you, just wait here," Ruan Pianran’s attitude shifted suddenly, her tone icy. As she finished speaking, she immediately rolled up the car window.
Suddenly, a look of astonishment crawled onto the man’s face. It seemed he didn’t expect Ruan Pianran to say such a thing, and he stared in a daze with wide eyes.
"Ruanruan, is he really a liar?" Although Ruan Pianran appeared cold and unapproachable on the outside, she was actually a very caring person. So, for her to say such heartless words was not because she was inherently cold-blooded and emotionless, but because she had already determined that this man had ill intentions, just as she had suspected!
"He’s not just a simple scammer," Ruan Pianran said coldly, her icy gaze fixing on the man’s lower back.
"Is he trying to trick us out of the car and then kill us to silence the witnesses?" Mi Jing looked at Ruan Pianran, a flash of panic crossing her eyes, as if scared by her own guess.
"It’s not impossible."
Upon hearing this, Mi Jing suddenly felt a chill run down her spine, thanking her lucky stars that she hadn’t impulsively run out of the car earlier.
"My leg hurts terribly, please, I beg you, take me to the hospital quickly. I will definitely repay you well and won’t cause you any trouble!" The man yelled hoarsely, pleading loudly. Strangely, this time he spoke very fluently, his voice loud and clear, enough for Mi Jing and Ruan Pianran inside the car to hear clearly.
"Drive," Ruan Pianran, disinterested in watching the man’s poor acting any longer, sneered inwardly and then instructed Mi Jing.
"But he’s sitting right there, how are we supposed to go?" Were they supposed to run the man over? Just the thought made Mi Jing’s legs go weak!
"He’ll move, don’t worry," Ruan Pianran said with certainty.
Hearing this, Mi Jing glanced at Ruan Pianran in astonishment, unsure of how she could make such a confident judgment. However, despite her doubts, Mi Jing trusted Ruan Pianran’s judgment without question. Taking a deep breath, she started the car.
"Hey, are you really so heartless to leave me to die?" Hearing the car start, the man became agitated. He suddenly sat up straight, his eyes flashing with angry light.
"..."
Neither Mi Jing nor Ruan Pianran spoke. Watching the man’s agitated demeanor, Mi Jing became even more convinced that Ruan Pianran’s judgment was correct. She gently pressed the gas pedal.
The next second, the car moved forward, the headlights casting a bright beam over the man’s face. Mi Jing and Ruan Pianran could clearly see his changing expression.
First, he appeared angry. But the moment the car moved, his eyes darted around in panic, and then he abruptly stood up, cursing loudly, "Damn bitch, get the hell out of the car! Or I’ll kill you both!"
Upon finishing his rant, the man quickly pulled out a knife, revealing his vicious nature!
"Damn it! That bastard has a knife on him! Ruanruan, call the police now!" Mi Jing was furious, glaring at the man in front, shouting loudly.
However, Ruan Pianran was a step ahead. Before Mi Jing finished her words, she had already lifted her phone to her ear, her lips curling into a smirk as she looked at the man through the windshield with contempt.
"Stop the car!"
Hearing Mi Jing say she was calling the police and seeing Ruan Pianran’s disdainful smile, the man was completely enraged, brandishing the sharp knife, his face twisted with bloodthirsty savagery.
"Idiot! Do you think we’re as stupid as you are!" Mi Jing muttered with a cold sneer. The car was about to hit the man. He pretended to be calm, stepping back a bit. Just then, Mi Jing turned the steering wheel, swerving around the man and speeding forward into the night.
"Damn bitch! I’ve got your license plate..."
The man’s crude threat echoed from behind. Upon hearing it, Mi Jing sneered contemptuously and muttered softly to herself, "You’ve remembered my license plate, but I’ve remembered your face! When I have time, I’ll draw your face and post it online. Let’s see if you dare to hurt anyone else!"
Hearing this, Ruan Pianran glanced at her and said, "Posting his picture online might expose your address, risking retaliation. We’ll report to the police tomorrow."
With the internet so widespread, distributing information is easy. However, enjoying the convenience of the internet means one must also consider its vulnerabilities. Revealing one’s identity would give the thug an opportunity for revenge. Hence, for safety, they needed a foolproof plan.
"Why not now?" They had plenty of time, and the thought of catching that bastard and serving justice made Mi Jing’s blood boil.
"Too tired," Ruan Pianran leaned back against the passenger seat, closing her eyes, her tone lazy.
"Ugh, even lazier than me," Mi Jing couldn’t help but complain.
"Don’t you want to eat noodles anymore?" Ruan Pianran asked softly in response.
"Fine, I’ll shut up. But can you answer one question before I do?"
"Go ahead."
"How did you know that guy wasn’t a good person?" Mi Jing asked curiously.
"I saw the knife he was hiding at his lower back," Ruan Pianran sat up, popped a piece of french fry into her mouth, and answered nonchalantly.
A knife at his lower back?
How did she miss that detail!
Sighing inwardly, Mi Jing admired Ruan Pianran even more, thinking to herself, thank goodness she had sharp eyes. Otherwise, they might have faced unimaginable consequences!
The car wound down the mountain road, the gentle music creating a comfortable atmosphere, gradually relaxing Mi Jing and Ruan Pianran.
Beep beep—
As the car drove onto the road, Mi Jing’s phone rang. However, focused on driving, she didn’t notice the sound.
"Jingjing, your phone is ringing," Ruan Pianran, though with her eyes closed, wasn’t asleep. Hearing the sound, she shifted her position and gently reminded Mi Jing.
"Oh, can you check it for me?" Distracted driving was unwise, so Mi Jing didn’t reach for her phone immediately.
In no time, Ruan Pianran fetched the phone from Mi Jing’s bag. When the screen lit up, she suddenly smiled.
"Who sent the message?" Ruan Pianran’s smile intrigued Mi Jing.
"Your husband," Ruan Pianran replied with a teasing smile.
"Don’t try to fool me. I won’t be that easily duped," Mi Jing retorted. Shen Lingxing was so busy with work, it was impossible he had time to message her. Hence, Mi Jing didn’t believe a word Ruan Pianran said.
