Chapter 87: I Offended a Woman
CHAPTER 87: CHAPTER 87: I OFFENDED A WOMAN
In the end, Nia Mitchell decided to stay in the Office Room, continuing her battle with the spare ribs, while Maxwell Peary sat back at his desk.
Alan Morgan stood ramrod straight in front of Maxwell Peary, but his gaze kept drifting to Nia Mitchell.
Maxwell Peary had thoroughly stunned him earlier, and he was still recovering.
"So, you came into my Office Room just to stand there?"
The CEO was quite resentful. Alan Morgan looked up, speechless, his gaze drifting towards Nia Mitchell.
Dearest Boss, do you really expect me to discuss the upcoming matters with you in front of your lady? Heh! I bet you’d chop me up and feed me to the dogs.
Maxwell Peary’s brow furrowed slightly as he looked up at the person eating obediently nearby.
Nia Mitchell was mechanically shoveling rice into her mouth. Suddenly sensing the atmosphere was off, she turned her head stiffly.
Aren’t those two supposed to be discussing business? Why are they both looking at me? Hey!
"Um... do you want some?"
Nia Mitchell awkwardly pushed the food container forward a little.
Maxwell Peary facepalmed. Alan Morgan looked exasperated.
"You’d be upset if I fought you for it, wouldn’t you?"
Nia Mitchell choked. So, Mr. CEO, you’re still holding a grudge about what happened earlier? So petty!
"Of course, I wouldn’t be happy!" Nia Mitchell declared, ignoring Alan Morgan’s presence. She pouted, feigning annoyance, snatched back her food container, and continued eating.
So annoying, so annoying, so incredibly annoying! Maxwell Peary is the worst!
"I’m done."
Nia Mitchell casually took a few more bites, then stood up, grabbed a napkin, and wiped her mouth.
"Take care, Madam."
Alan Morgan was eager to see her leave; after all, his business couldn’t be delayed.
Nia Mitchell stopped short, turned, and looked at the two men with a wronged expression.
"You just can’t wait for me to leave, can you?"
With a sorrowful look, she covered her face, then opened the door and fled.
Alan Morgan was petrified!
Madam, please don’t! How could you just drop a line like that and bolt? What am I supposed to do? Save me, Madam! The CEO is going to kill someone!
Hearing Nia Mitchell’s parting words, Maxwell Peary shot up from his seat and rushed out after her, without a chance to reprimand Alan Morgan for his earlier remark.
After leaving the Office Room, Nia Mitchell immediately dropped her feigned sorrow. Her face broke into a brilliant smile. Hahahaha, let Special Assistant Mo see how I got him!
Just as she settled back into her seat, Maxwell Peary burst into the Secretary Department.
"Hello, CEO!"
Phoebe Walker stood up to greet him, wondering why the CEO kept coming to the Secretary Department today.
She had been a secretary for several years now, and the number of times she had seen the CEO personally visit the department could be counted on one hand.
Seeing Nia Mitchell looking perfectly fine, Maxwell Peary belatedly realized he had been tricked.
"It’s nothing."
With that, he turned and left.
His inner demon had awakened. Fine, Nia Mitchell, you’ve gotten bold, haven’t you? If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll never learn your place!
Inside the Office Room, the abandoned Special Assistant wore a look of utter despair. He pulled out his phone and dialed Owen Lewis’s number.
"Do you have any idea what time it is?!" an angry roar came from the injured person on the other end of the line.
"Owen, I’m screwed."
Alan Morgan ignored Owen Lewis’s fury, his own face grim.
Owen Lewis, on the other end of the line, was taken aback. He reached out and switched on the bedside lamp. Annie Davidson, beside him, stirred uncomfortably, turned over, and went back to sleep.
"What’s wrong?" Owen Lewis asked, his voice low as he noticed Annie stirring beside him. After all, they were brothers who had faced life and death together.
"I offended a woman, and she..."
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
Alan Morgan stared at his phone, dumbfounded. He hung up on me?!
