Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk
Chapter 704: Rarely Falling Ill
CHAPTER 704: CHAPTER 704: RARELY FALLING ILL
Back at Crimson Hill Villa.
Jasper Sinclair was unwell, as expected, he fell ill.
He got caught in the rain outside twice, and the second time he didn’t change into dry clothes promptly.
A man who seldom falls ill even once a year, this time, he was genuinely down.
The cold invaded fiercely, consuming most of his energy just to get out of bed.
Nora Northwood brought the food to the bedroom, only to hear, "No appetite."
After receiving three IV drips, Jasper Sinclair’s mouth was filled with bitterness, and everything he saw seemed bitter.
The roles of caregiver and the one being cared for were reversed. Nora patiently coaxed, "The doctor said you’re at your weakest now, you must eat something to maintain your strength."
"Leave it there, I’ll eat later."
"It’ll get cold later, this is porridge that Uncle Kevin personally cooked."
Their standoff continued, and in the end, Nora was at a loss, inevitably sighing.
For the first time, she felt that Jasper Sinclair was so obstinate.
Stubborn as he was, he was still afraid of his wife.
Upon hearing Nora’s repeated sighs, Jasper Sinclair conceded, "Come feed me."
A well-built man of six foot one, acting spoiled and asking his wife to feed him... Nora could hardly believe what her ears were hearing.
She complied, holding the spoon and bringing the porridge to Jasper Sinclair’s lips, the sweetness dispelling the bitterness in his mouth.
Spoonful by spoonful, after finishing the porridge, he lay down directly.
Nora teasingly asked, "Is lazing around as comfortable as you’d imagined?"
"Much more comfortable than I imagined."
In the past, as soon as Jasper Sinclair completed his studies, he took over the executive director’s job from Grandpa Sinclair.
Over the years, he worked tirelessly around the clock, never taking a break.
Everyone called him a workaholic, and even Jasper himself once thought he was born to be constantly busy.
It wasn’t until Nora appeared in his life that he realized one could steal moments of leisure outside of work.
"Buzz buzz."
Just as Jasper Sinclair was about to fall asleep, his phone on the bedside table vibrated intermittently.
Nora picked up the phone and informed him it was a call from Louis Hayes.
"You answer it."
Nora swiped on the screen to answer, and turned on the speakerphone.
"Director Sinclair."
The person on the other end greeted first.
"He’s beside me, it’s Nora Northwood. What is it?"
There was a brief silence on the line before Louis Hayes’ voice came through again.
"The Woodward Family’s shares were acquired at a low price by Jenson Sinclair, and the company’s employees have basically deserted it. Lynn Woodward has been trying to get James Woodward out, but she’s hitting walls everywhere and the police only allowed the two siblings to meet once."
"When did they meet?" Nora asked.
"Five days ago, after Lynn Woodward left the detention center, she withdrew a sum of US Dollars from the bank, supposedly tasked with getting Rachel Woodward out of the country."
"Has she left the country yet?"
"Not yet, they probably have other plans. The Shepherd Family hasn’t shown up at all."
Upon hearing that Rachel Woodward hadn’t left, Nora calmly instructed, "Keep an eye on Rachel Woodward’s movements at all times. Based on what I know of her, she won’t let things go easily and might take more actions."
The call ended.
Nora held the phone, standing by the window, as the weather turned gloomy again, likely bringing continuous rain for some time.
Another call came in before she could make a move, this time from Grandpa Sinclair.
