Amid her daze, Nora Northwood stood up from the small stool and said, "Aunt should be arriving soon. I’ll go outside and have a look."

"Alright."

As Nora stepped out, she happened to encounter Raina Sinclair and Louis Hayes in conversation.

Her appearance interrupted their discussion.

"Aunt, Special Assistant Hayes, he has woken up. I’ll take you inside."

Once inside, Louis Hayes stood aside, waiting for the family to catch up.

Jasper Sinclair said a few comforting words, stating, "I know what condition my body is in."

"Not even half a year has passed. First, you lost your memory in Melbourne, then barely returned to end up in the ICU again. Do you really think everyone in the Sinclair Family is as carefree as you are?"

"Aunt, both times were accidents. It won’t happen again."

When he spoke the latter half of his sentence, Jasper’s eyes suddenly turned gloomy, not at all like a patient who’s just awakened from a coma.

Once he had said enough, Jasper intended to send the two women away: "Nora, I’ll be hospitalized for a while. Go back to Crimson Hill Villa and pack some daily essentials."

Actually, Uncle Kevin could have easily handled these matters without troubling Nora for a special trip.

But she understood Jasper’s intention, and so, followed his instructions.

Raina and Nora left the ward together, leaving only the two men in the spacious room.

Louis Hayes first asked, "Director Sinclair, are you comfortable staying here? Do you need me to arrange a transfer for you?"

"No need to trouble. I’ll stay here for now."

Jasper had endured worse environments than this, so it wasn’t a big deal to him.

After some small talk, he finally got to the main point, "Why didn’t you know in advance about Boss King’s arrival in Stanton City?"

"It was my oversight. I only found out about it last night and was about to report it to you, but..."

Louis didn’t complete his sentence, as it wasn’t particularly pleasant to voice.

"These people who live on the edge aim to catch you off guard. If you’re always a step behind, sooner or later, I’ll end up with a knife in my heart."

Jasper was furious.

He wasn’t angry for his own safety but rather because if these people targeted him, they might also target Nora.

He didn’t even dare to imagine, if it wasn’t for the snowfall, that he and Nora might have been sitting together, and she might have been implicated.

Louis, standing nearby, had deeply realized his mistake and the severity of the situation.

He hung his head as low as possible.

"Alright, you can dispatch any of the bodyguards logged in the system. You have one week."

"Understood."

Then, Jasper asked a few questions about the company.

The time he was in a coma wasn’t too long and hadn’t led to any unforeseen complications.

The doctor advised him to rest well and not leave the hospital for at least a week.

So, he postponed his work for a few days.

Louis went to handle Boss King’s issue, leaving Jasper alone in the ward.

As he sat in thought, images of his first meeting with Nora began to surface in his mind.
