Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!
Chapter 46: Caught Kissing by the Parents
CHAPTER 46: CHAPTER 46: CAUGHT KISSING BY THE PARENTS
The sudden "kabedon" left Clara stunned.
Silas Sheffield’s deep black eyes reflected her image.
The man’s face was dark and icy.
He squinted his eyes, his handsome brows slightly furrowed, biting his words out coldly: "Breaking up is the worst-case scenario?"
Clara’s heart skipped a beat.
He was indeed angry about this.
She lowered her head, eyes downcast, murmuring softly without confidence: "What else could I say... Isn’t it?"
"Ha." Silas laughed angrily.
She dared to question him back.
"No." The man was resolute, his eyes dark as ink.
"Hm?" Clara was confused.
"My marriage, I can make my own decisions, even if they disapprove, it’s useless."
"But..."
"No buts." Silas’s aura was chilling.
He released Clara and took out his phone to make a call.
"Can you return home tomorrow?" Silas went straight to the point, "I got married."
On the other side of the call, Zeke Sheffield was so shocked he almost dropped his phone, "Am I dreaming?"
Silas’s pupils were cold and clear, he didn’t say more, "I’m hanging up."
Clara was dumbfounded, "You called Uncle Sheffield?"
"Mm."
"You just told them like that?"
"Mm."
Clara: "..."
Silas’s gaze was sharp and cold, "I don’t want to hear the word breakup again."
...
Early the next morning.
Clara finished freshening up and went downstairs to prepare for breakfast.
Silas called to her: "Wait."
"Hm?" Clara turned her head.
Silas’s large hand embraced Clara’s waist, pulling her into his arms, and he lowered his head, kissing her lush red lips.
"Mmm..." Clara’s clear and pure eyes blinked.
How did a good morning kiss get added to the routine?
Silas’s kissing skills were improving.
Clara’s face was flushed red from the man’s kiss, her eyes dazed, she leaned weakly against his chest, her breathing disrupted.
"Bang—" Something fell to the ground.
"Ah ah ah, keep going, keep going! I didn’t see anything!" Mrs. Sheffield Joanne Quincy shrieked, dropping her bag on the ground.
She covered her eyes with both hands, but her exposed chin and red lips showed her obvious amusement.
Next to her, Zeke Sheffield was clearly surprised. Always calm and restrained, he couldn’t help but blush upon witnessing the scene.
Silas was astounded, a look of shock in his eyes, "Why did you come back so early?"
Clara’s face was so red it seemed about to bleed, embarrassed enough to want to dig a hole and hide.
Mortifying.
Being caught red-handed by Uncle Sheffield and Auntie Quincy.
Joanne Quincy couldn’t stop laughing, "Last night, when you called to say you got married, your dad and I couldn’t wait, so we took a flight back overnight."
Silas: "..."
He hadn’t expected them to be so impatient.
Flying back overnight.
He thought they would set out today and arrive tonight or tomorrow.
"What’s going on? You and Clara got married?" Joanne asked with surprise and joy.
Silas’s face was as usual, "Mm."
Joanne: "Already got your marriage certificate?"
Silas: "Mm."
"Why just register without a wedding?" Zeke’s eyes showed disapproval, "Sneaking around for what? Making the girl feel wronged."
"It’s not like that, Uncle Sheffield." Clara hurriedly explained for Silas, "The secret marriage was my idea."
Upon hearing Clara explain, Zeke stopped talking.
Joanne was puzzled though, "Why the secret marriage, Clara?"
Clara explained: "My mom is seriously ill, I’m not in the mood for a wedding."
Joanne didn’t quite understand, "Oh? Then why rush to register? Aren’t you still in school? Have you been together for a long time?"
"No." Clara didn’t know what to say.
Must she say she traded her marriage for money to treat her mom?
Just as Clara was feeling troubled, Silas suddenly spoke up: "I’ve coveted her for a long time, couldn’t wait for her to graduate."
Clara was frozen.
Coveted her for a long time?
"Ah? You liked Clara for a while now?" Joanne exclaimed, "Couldn’t tell at all, you hid it pretty well."
Silas calmly said: "Mm, the secret marriage was because she hasn’t graduated yet."
"That makes sense." That was convincing, Joanne nodded, "You can have a wedding after Clara graduates."
Speaking of which, Joanne’s expression suddenly changed, she looked at Clara and then at Silas in a peculiar way.
"Why were you rushing to register, could it be... a shotgun wedding?"
Zeke’s expression also changed, his sharp gaze swept over Silas like a blade.
Clara’s eyes widened suddenly, her face flushed to her ears, "No, Aunt, we... we haven’t..."
Silas said coldly, "You’re overthinking."
"That’s good, that’s good." Joanne breathed a sigh of relief, "Scared me, I thought you got Clara..."
"Pregnant" were words she couldn’t utter.
Thankfully, things weren’t as she had feared.
That’s good.
"Uncle Sheffield, Auntie Quincy, will you..." Clara asked nervously, "Will you oppose it?"
"Oppose? Why would we oppose?" Joanne showed an incredulous expression, "Silas finally got himself a wife, we’re thrilled."
Speaking, Joanne covered her mouth with her hand, giggling, "You have no idea, seeing how he’s usually not interested in women, we almost thought he had an issue with his orientation."
Silas: "..."
Clara: "..."
"Clara, don’t overthink, okay? Your Uncle and I will never oppose your marriage." Joanne held Clara’s hand with a smile, "You and Sophie are good friends, I’ve always liked you, now you’re marrying Silas, we’re family. You can start calling me Mom."
Clara pressed her lips, uncomfortably calling "Mom."
"Hey, good child." Joanne beamed, delighted.
Zeke looked at Silas, "Come with me."
"Go to work first." Silas tenderly ruffled Clara’s hair in front of Zeke and Joanne.
Joanne saw Silas’s action, then shifted her gaze to his eyes, completely stunned.
She’d never seen Silas with such a gentle look before.
This kid, last time she introduced a girl to him, he left her there and walked off, almost causing her friend to fall out with her.
Silas had said he liked someone else at the time, she’d thought he hadn’t gotten over his previous girlfriend.
Didn’t expect the one he liked to be Clara.
The more Joanne thought about it, the happier she got.
When she and Zeke dated, Silas was only two.
Silas grew up handsome and obedient, not mischievous at all.
Joanne initially treated Silas like her own, often buying him toys and taking him out.
Zeke married her because of how well she treated his son.
Later on, Joanne had Sophie, pouring more time and energy into her daughter, as one might expect with one’s own child, a bit biased.
But Joanne wasn’t mean-hearted, and her bias wasn’t excessive.
Her affection for Silas was genuine too.
Thus over the years, the Sheffield family’s atmosphere remained good, harmonious and happy.
Silas followed Zeke to the tea room.
The father and son probably going to discuss Silas’s marriage.
Clara said to Joanne, "Aunt Jo... Mom, I’m off to work."
Joanne nodded with a smile, "Alright, you go."
