CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 74: DOES MY BROTHER KNOW HE’S BROKE AND UGLY?

Clara slightly frowned, "What’s going on with you two?"

"It’s a long story," Sophie Sheffield irritably scratched her head, "It’s inconvenient to talk about it here, I’ll find some time to tell you later."

"Alright." Clara’s eyes showed concern, "Take care of yourself, and don’t let this kind of thing happen again."

Sophie Sheffield lowered her eyes, "Mm, it won’t happen again."

The two of them linked arms and walked out of the women’s clothing store.

They had only taken a few steps when a female voice came from the right.

"Oh, isn’t this our school belle, Clara Sterling."

Clara looked over in the direction of the voice and saw a man and a woman.

Joy Shawn and Owen Quinlan, Clara Sterling’s college classmates.

Joy Shawn was holding Owen Quinlan’s arm, it looked like they were together.

Joy Shawn’s eyes were full of malice, her words were sharp and mean, "I can’t believe you actually dared to come to the class reunion, aren’t you afraid of being drowned in spit?"

Owen Quinlan looked Clara Sterling up and down, full of disdain, "What kind of school belle is she? More like a joke. Married to some poor and ugly guy and found a sugar daddy to support her, she’s really embarrassing for Crestwood U."

Owen Quinlan was the class president in Clara’s class; he added all the classmates’ contacts from the class group during freshman year.

After the freshman military training ended, Owen Quinlan started "intensely" pursuing Clara.

But his way of pursuing her was more like harassment than courtship.

Every day he’d send Clara messages, occasionally buy her a cup of milk tea or breakfast or something.

When Clara didn’t accept the milk tea or breakfast, he’d forcibly give it to her roommate.

It was called "intense" because the whole class knew about Owen Quinlan’s pursuit of Clara at that time.

One night, he even set up a circle of candles on the track field and publicly confessed to Clara with a rose in hand.

Clara was surrounded by a group of people, all shouting, "Say yes! Say yes!"

At the time, Clara was extremely embarrassed, not feeling romantic at all, just feeling very offended.

The result was Clara rejected Owen Quinlan on the spot.

The next day, Owen Quinlan wrote a long rant and posted it on the school’s confession wall, dragging Clara’s name through the mud.

In that post, he angrily accused Clara of being a gold digger, saying he had pursued her for more than a month and spent 237.5 yuan on breakfasts and milk teas.

The comments on that confession wall were quite entertaining.

Everyone was scolding Owen Quinlan for being cheap, a harasser, and saying he was delusional, thinking he could date the school belle while not even reflecting on his looks.

After seeing that post, Clara instantly transferred the money to Owen Quinlan.

Instead of 237.5 yuan, she rounded it up to 250 yuan.

Owen Quinlan blocked her after receiving the money.

For the next three years, whenever Clara saw Owen Quinlan on the street, she’d walk the other way.

There wasn’t really any conflict between Joy Shawn and Clara Sterling.

Joy’s malice towards Clara mainly stemmed from jealousy.

Furthermore, since Owen Quinlan was now her boyfriend, naturally, Clara Sterling became the target of her dislike, having been the unattainable love interest that Owen once pursued.

Sophie Sheffield asked Clara, "Who are these two?"

Clara: "College classmates."

Owen Quinlan sneered, "Clara Sterling, are all those posts online true? Did you really become a mistress for an old man for money?"

Clara gave a calm smile, entirely uninterested in engaging with them.

"Sophie, let’s go." Clara didn’t want to waste words with them and pulled Sophie Sheffield away.

As Clara was leaving, Joy Shawn raised her voice, screeching, "Oh, so you do know how to feel ashamed! I thought you had no sense of shame! Married even before graduating, and your husband is poor and ugly, no wonder you went and found a sugar daddy."

Sophie Sheffield was about to leave but burst into laughter at these words, "Her husband? Poor and ugly?"

Joy Shawn squinted at Sophie Sheffield, "And who are you?"

Sophie Sheffield didn’t answer Joy Shawn’s question but instead chuckled and asked, "Who told you her husband is poor and ugly?"

"Clara Sterling’s ex-boyfriend, Isaac Sutton, saw it with his own eyes." Joy Shawn tilted her chin at Clara Sterling, "Right, Clara Sterling?"

Owen Quinlan chimed in sarcastically, "If I were you, I wouldn’t have the face to go to a class reunion. Aren’t you ashamed?"

Sophie Sheffield stepped forward, her gaze was threatening, like she was ready to explode any second.

Clara stopped Sophie Sheffield.

In a voice only the two of them could hear, she whispered, "Silas will accompany me to the reunion tonight, there’s no need to waste words on them."

Regardless of what they say now, this couple won’t believe it.

Once Silas makes an appearance tonight, all those online rumors will fall apart on their own.

Sophie Sheffield nodded, gave the couple a sneer, and walked away with Clara.

Joy Shawn watched Clara’s back with a mocking smile, "Truly shameless, unbeatable in the world."

Owen Quinlan put his arm around Joy Shawn’s shoulder, "If she really dares to come to the reunion tonight, we’ll continue to humiliate her then."

Sophie Sheffield followed Clara off into the distance.

"You’ve got a lot of patience. They were humiliating you like that, and I just wanted to tear their mouths apart!"

"What’s the rush," Clara chuckled, "Let them keep believing the rumors; the show tonight will be better."

Sophie Sheffield smirked, "I’m really curious to see their faces when they see my brother tonight."

As she spoke, Sophie Sheffield looked at Clara with a sly smile, "Does my brother know he’s poor and ugly? Hahaha."

Clara smiled, "He knows, he’s already sued those who spread the rumors."

"Some of your classmates should know my brother, right?"

"Mm." Clara nodded, "There are a few classmates from the same high school."

Crestwood No. 1 High School, where Clara Sterling and Sophie Sheffield went for high school.

It was also where Silas Sheffield attended high school.

Sophie Sheffield’s eyes glimmered with even more amusement, "Then tonight will be quite the show. Back in high school, my brother was a legend, and even though he’s been graduated for years, he’s still remembered as the hottest school heartthrob ever."

Thinking of Silas, Clara smiled faintly.

She certainly knew.

Back during her high school days, Silas had already graduated, yet the stories about him at Crestwood No. 1 High School were plenty.

Always holding the top spot in his grade, winning competitions, getting a full recommendation to Veridian University, the only "three-high" student in the history of the school.

High in looks, intelligence, and height.

During Clara’s three years in high school, even though Silas was no longer there, he still had plenty of fangirls.

As they talked about Silas, Sophie Sheffield suddenly thought of something, her eyes shifted, and she smiled, "Clara, how far have you and my brother gotten?"

Clara didn’t answer directly, "You’re jumping topics too fast."

Sophie Sheffield laughed, "Not really, we were just talking about my brother, so I casually asked."

Clara hadn’t decided how to answer yet when Sophie Sheffield pressed on, "Have you two slept together?"
