Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 103: Why Are You Here
CHAPTER 103: CHAPTER 103: WHY ARE YOU HERE
Evelyn Clayton almost couldn’t hold back her laughter.
The suspense had built up enough; it was time for the main act.
"Alright, alright. You’re so determined, I feel embarrassed to doubt you. Okay, I’ll help you organize a press conference. Remember to say what you just said on stage again."
The three members of the Lockwood Family exchanged glances and finally felt relieved.
The press conference was held right below The Grant Tower. There was a small exhibition hall next to it, arranged to start at 2 p.m. Evelyn Clayton, in the name of The Grant Group, invited many reporters.
The reporters were very cooperative, and more showed up than there were in the morning.
When the time came, Evelyn Clayton signaled Iris Lockwood to go on stage by herself.
Iris Lockwood’s mouth dropped open, "Aren’t you going on stage with me?"
"I’m not the main character in this matter, don’t forget the purpose of your press conference."
Though angry, Iris Lockwood had to admit Evelyn Clayton made sense.
Luckily, she had already spoken to Matthew Sullivan; he would cooperate with her.
Onstage, Iris Lockwood explained that she and Sheldon Zane were just friends, and the so-called photos were just maliciously exploited. She then asked Matthew Sullivan to join her on stage, where they enacted a heartfelt embrace of mutual support.
Evelyn Clayton stood in the back row, finding the act on stage so terrible she couldn’t bother watching more.
She casually played with her phone and happened to receive a food photo from James Grant.
It seemed he had finished his meeting, and she replied with a drooling crying emoji when suddenly she heard a voice.
"Iris, how can you say that?!"
She put her phone away and looked. It was Sheldon Zane.
Evelyn Clayton subtly curled her lips, noticing Iris Lockwood’s face turn suddenly pale.
Sheldon Zane took the stage in two strides.
The security looked at Evelyn Clayton, silently asking if they should stop him?
She gestured for them not to.
On stage, Iris Lockwood was ashen-faced, clearly not expecting this turn of events.
Seeing Sheldon Zane’s heartbroken expression, the disdain in Iris Lockwood’s eyes was unmistakable: "Why are you here?!"
Saying so, Iris Lockwood didn’t forget to turn off the microphone, pulling Sheldon Zane backstage.
"Are you crazy? Why are you here causing trouble at this time?"
"Iris, when you said before that you admired me, was it a lie? How can you say such things about me in public?" Sheldon Zane’s eyes turned red.
Evelyn Clayton slightly tilted her head, watching the backstage drama unfolding with an increasingly amused smile.
But the next moment, she saw Iris Lockwood whispering a few words in Sheldon Zane’s ear.
Soon, Sheldon Zane’s expression softened.
"Alright... since you put it that way, I accept..."
The two seemed to have reached an understanding. Once back on stage, Sheldon Zane grabbed the microphone and told the media, "Everyone, Iris is right; it has always been me who had a crush on her. She never gave me hope. She agreed to go to The Hot Springs Villa with me after I begged her for a long time just to unwind; we stayed in separate rooms! I don’t want anyone to slander the girl I love; she’s great, and I’m not deserving."
Having said so, Sheldon Zane attempted to reach out to apologize by grabbing Iris Lockwood’s hand.
Iris Lockwood’s face immediately showed a look of terror.
Matthew Sullivan swiftly stepped forward, playing the hero, and shielded her.
The farce climaxed at this point, and the media clicked their shutters wildly.
Someone even exclaimed in envy, "I so envy Iris Lockwood, both these men love her so much."
Iris Lockwood secretly laughed inside, but her expression remained unchanged.
She was curious about what Evelyn Clayton’s expression might be now.
Taking advantage of a moment off stage, she sneaked a glance in Evelyn’s direction, finding that Evelyn was simply crossing her arms and smiling, with a hint of disdain mixed in.
