CHAPTER 108: CHAPTER 108: BREAK UP WITH JAMES GRANT

Evelyn Clayton looked at the club name and address sent by Mr. Jiang, "This is a legitimate club, there are waiters and other customers watching. With Mr. Jiang’s status, it’s not suitable for causing trouble there, don’t worry."

"I’m sorry to make you clean up my mess again..." Yara Reagan pouted, about to cry, but was stopped by Evelyn Clayton.

"Don’t say that, this studio isn’t just yours, I have a share too. If this deal fails, I have to contribute financially as well."

Evelyn Clayton slept at home all day, just waiting to attend the banquet that evening.

Anticipating that this matter wouldn’t be easily resolved, she deliberately wore a black suit to make herself appear formidable.

When she walked into the private room, Mr. Jiang was teasing a waitress. Her eyes were filled with disgust and disdain, but disappeared the moment Mr. Jiang turned to look at her.

"Mr. Jiang, I’m the host tonight, order whatever you like."

"Ah, having dinner with a beautiful woman, how can I let the lady foot the bill," Mr. Jiang looked her up and down, "I didn’t look closely yesterday, Director Clayton, you have quite a figure."

His face just shy of openly showing the words ’lecher.’

Evelyn Clayton smiled faintly and sat across from Mr. Jiang, placing her bag and phone on the chair, and poured herself a glass of water.

For some reason, though it was a casual gesture, Mr. Jiang felt her powerful presence.

Today, Evelyn Clayton had put on some heavy makeup, with eyeliner drawn long and uplifted, like a seductive snake that could claim a life at any moment.

"Mr. Jiang, I want to get straight to the point and discuss the contract with you..."

"Hey, no rush." Mr. Jiang poured three glasses of Baijiu and turned the lazy Susan to place them in front of Evelyn Clayton, "Drinking makes things easier. Drink first and show me your sincerity, then I’ll decide whether this matter is open for discussion."

Evelyn Clayton smiled, taking all her self-restraint to control her temper.

"How about we drink after the discussion, it might taste even better then."

"Drink now, or there’s nothing to discuss." Mr. Jiang crossed his arms, looking as if daring her, "What can you do?"

If it weren’t for Yara Reagan, for the studio, Evelyn Clayton would have left long ago.

But thinking of Yara Reagan’s apprehensive demeanor, she closed her eyes, "Fine, I’ll drink."

Fortunately, she anticipated needing to drink tonight, so she took some hangover pills in advance.

Downing three glasses of Baijiu, her stomach immediately started burning, but she wasn’t dizzy yet.

"Mr. Jiang, I’ve finished drinking, can we talk now?"

"Alright alright alright. Director Clayton, you truly are a heroine." Mr. Jiang laughed heartily, "I won’t beat around the bush then, this contract matter is neither big nor small, but resolving it is just a matter of a word from me."

Evelyn Clayton wiped the wine from the corner of her mouth, "Mr. Jiang, why not state your conditions directly, I don’t want to waste time."

"One, you lose money. Two, you break up with James Grant."

Mr. Jiang’s conditions greatly surprised Evelyn Clayton. She had thought Mr. Jiang was targeting the studio, how did James Grant get involved?

Seeing her not respond, Mr. Jiang leaned forward, "Are you reluctant?"

The private room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Evelyn Clayton didn’t speak, but her expression was serious, as if she was contemplating.

"Mr. Jiang, is there any way to change the condition?"

"No." Mr. Jiang leaned back, his face fierce, "There are only two solutions to this matter, either lose money or you break up."

Evelyn Clayton quietly drank water, saying nothing.

She had drunk too fast earlier, the alcohol was hitting her afterwards, so she drank some water to ease it.

Mr. Jiang mistook it for her being unwilling to break up.

"What? Do you like James Grant that much? Are you reluctant to break up with him?"

"Indeed, I find it hard to let go." Evelyn Clayton put down the glass, meeting Mr. Jiang’s gaze, "Our collaboration has nothing to do with James Grant, why should breaking up with him be the price?"
