CHAPTER 113: CHAPTER 113: IS SHE WORTH IT?

Keith Donovan wasn’t interested in listening to her excuses and had someone check the surveillance at the club’s entrance overnight.

Sure enough, he saw a woman making a phone call as Amber Whitman passed by, but she left after Amber entered the club.

The surveillance pixel was low, only capturing a vague outline of the features.

While the club manager was at a loss for how to report back, Keith had already thought of a ’suspect.’

"Send me a recent photo of Clara Yates."

Keith had heard that Clara had approached Evelyn Clayton about pricing issues, but it hadn’t ended well.

So, today’s work was likely from Clara Yates.

"I’ve sent you the surveillance and the photos, you’ll have to judge if it’s Clara Yates yourself. As a brother, this is as far as my loyalty goes!" A weary Keith yawned, "You went home with your wife to sleep while I was busy until sunrise."

"You’ve worked hard; I’ll supply you with red wine for a year."

James Grant finally spoke, and Keith was satisfied with the response.

Looking over the evidence sent to him, James Grant had no time to instruct his men to act before Victor Whitman’s call suddenly came.

"Uncle, what a rare guest; calling so early for a favor? Is it for your unpromising daughter?" James’s tone was mocking, but his voice was icy to the extreme.

Victor Whitman felt a heaviness in his heart.

"James, Amber was a bit excessive this time, I’ve already criticized her. She was standing up for you, her method was wrong, but her intentions were good. Let’s forget about this, shall we?"

Victor Whitman’s confidence grew as he spoke.

For now, James hadn’t inherited The Grant Group and needed the Whitman Family’s support, so he thought James had to give face to his uncle.

Unexpectedly, James simply replied faintly.

"No."

Now it was not just for his daughter but also for his own pride that Victor Whitman clashed with James.

"Is it worth it for that woman? At the last charity gala, I could tell she’s not the obedient type. How can she compare to your own sister and uncle? When you inherit The Grant Group, what help can she provide you?"

In the living room, James’s gaze was cold. He crossed his long legs, completely indifferent.

Trying to use inheritance as leverage?

"Uncle, there were quite a few eyewitnesses yesterday. If you have the time to threaten me, why not go clean up Amber’s mess first. She’s been spoiled by you and Aunt, needs to be sent abroad to cool her temper."

"You—"

"I’ll have Quentin Hale send the plane ticket later."

Setting the decision in stone, James abruptly hung up the phone and turned around to meet Evelyn Clayton’s eyes, clear like a young deer’s.

Unabashedly, he held Evelyn’s hand tight as they walked towards the living room, "How about tofu pudding for breakfast? The housekeeper hasn’t come yet, I’ll drive out to get it."

"Okay."

At the dining table, Evelyn Clayton shoveled tofu pudding into her mouth while sneaking glances at James Grant, looking like she wanted to speak but hesitated.

With a "Ding~", a notification showed successful message sent.

Surrounded by the intense gaze of the little woman, James closed his phone and met her eyes with interest.

"Want to ask me something?"

Having mentally prepared herself, Evelyn took a deep breath, "How do you plan to deal with Amber?"

"Sending her abroad to get her brain washed."

"Really?" Evelyn looked at him doubtfully, stirring her spoon nervously.

"Don’t trust me?" James suddenly leaned in close, so close they were breathing the same air.

"I can’t say." She lowered her gaze.

The relationship between the Grant and Whitman families was too close. She didn’t believe James would be ruthless towards Amber for her sake.
