CHAPTER 20: CHAPTER 20: BE GOOD, HAVE ANOTHER SIP

This madman!

Evelyn Clayton felt like her head was about to explode, surrounded by the crazed laughter and jeers of those around her, with James Grant’s enlarged face in front of her.

The aroma of wine and the man’s cold, domineering aura intertwined, attacking her senses wildly.

They had slept together twice, yet rarely kissed, let alone in such a sober state.

The man’s aggressive advances grew stronger, and Evelyn felt like a fish out of water, her vision gradually blurring.

Shame and excitement crashed over her like a tidal wave, making it hard for Evelyn to breathe!

A few seconds later, James reluctantly left her rosy and soft lips.

"Was it good?"

She could clearly see the mischievous curve on James’ lips, yet her ears couldn’t help but turn red.

This game might be boring, but James was enjoying himself.

Before Evelyn could lose her temper, James promptly pulled her down to sit: "Don’t be mad, I sacrificed myself to protect you! Look at how crazy they’re playing. If you don’t drink, do you think they’d let you off easily?"

Following James’ gaze, Evelyn looked at the others in the booth.

Various men and women swayed amidst the colorful lights and wine, drinking, kissing, everywhere to be seen.

Indeed, James wasn’t wrong.

"But you can’t..." Evelyn turned her head awkwardly: "Let it go this time, but next time if you..."

"Alright, alright, don’t be mad, I’ll punish myself with a drink." James picked up his glass and downed the whiskey.

Under the dim lights, his Adam’s apple moving up and down inexplicably carried a certain alluring tension.

He was straightforward, and Evelyn felt too embarrassed to say anything more.

For the rest of the time, no matter what James said to her, she ignored him.

Shawn Donovan was about to tease James about being henpecked when he inadvertently noticed Evelyn’s flushed face, and couldn’t help but nudge James.

"James, has your little beloved wife never had alcohol before? Did you feed her an entire glass just now? Her face is so red."

Upon hearing this, James’ expression changed, and he immediately turned Evelyn’s face toward him.

Her face was as red as a ripe apple, and the usual coldness in her eyes that kept others at bay was now replaced with a dazed blur.

James bent down, trying to help her up.

The petite woman in front of him reached out and slapped away randomly: "Don’t touch me! I feel so uncomfortable, it’s all because of you... you..."

Evelyn felt puffed up with anger, yet didn’t understand why she was upset.

She felt so dizzy, any movement was uncomfortable.

"Hey, you sure have a temper. James doesn’t treat other women like this..." Before he could finish, Shawn was cut off by a sharp look from James: "Alright, I won’t intervene. You take Miss Clayton to sober up."

The drunk Evelyn acted like a child, throwing tantrums and refusing to leave.

James had no choice but to half-coax and half-deceive her, leading her to a room on the top floor of the club to rest.

As soon as she got inside, Evelyn’s legs gave out, and she fell onto the soft, comfortable bed.

Yet she was still uncomfortable, feeling like there was a fire burning in her chest, making her moan in distress.

A waiter brought warm lemon water.

James supported her, feeding her spoonful by spoonful, his sharp features softened by the tender look in his eyes.

Shame Shawn didn’t see this, otherwise he would definitely say James had undergone a change in personality.

Squinting, Evelyn pouted: "I don’t want to drink, I don’t want to drink alcohol..."

"Not alcohol, just a bit of water, okay? You’ll feel better if you drink it. Be good, have another sip."

The man’s voice was low and gentle, stirring up some distant memories for Evelyn.
