CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: THAT’S ENOUGH OUT OF YOU

The driver was already waiting downstairs.

Halfway through the ride, James Grant suddenly asked, "Did anyone inquire about my scandal today?"

"Yes. Second Young Master."

Quentin Hale was referring to Matthew Sullivan.

As long as Matthew Sullivan knew, he would definitely seize the opportunity to criticize him in front of Evelyn Clayton. Evelyn would also find out about last night’s incident.

James Grant remained expressionless.

Quentin Hale continued, "Matthew Sullivan’s secretary contacted Miss Clayton’s friend yesterday, apparently to place an order with Miss Clayton’s studio."

Clearly, his ulterior motive has nothing to do with business.

"It seems Matthew Sullivan has a lot of free time," James Grant remarked playfully, curling his lips, "We need to give him something to do."

They arrived at the company.

"Good morning, Director Grant."

Quentin Hale handed over a cup of iced Americano, placing all the documents needing James Grant’s signature in front of him.

"Director Grant, these documents need to go out this morning. Miss Owens called half an hour ago, saying she’d like to arrange dinner with you after work."

James Grant opened the files, leisurely asking, "Which Miss Owens?"

"Cindy Owens, the one rumored to be with you this morning."

Quentin Hale reminded him.

Mentioning this rumor only cooled James Grant’s demeanor further.

"Not available."

"Yes."

Just as Quentin Hale was about to leave, he suddenly heard James Grant ask, "What projects does Matthew Sullivan’s company have recently?"

"There’s an electrical grid project that’s about to start bidding. If all goes as expected, that’s his target."

James Grant signed his name without looking up, "Make sure he doesn’t win the bid, by any means necessary."

"The electrical grid project involves many people, so it’s unlikely he could manage every aspect. Mistakes are easy," Quentin Hale displayed a professional smile, "Boss, I know what to do."

"Don’t let anyone disturb me today."

"Understood."

James Grant handled documents until noon, with Quentin Hale diligently ensuring no one disturbed him.

As for Evelyn Clayton...

James Grant glanced at his phone; still no response.

——

To finish Matthew Sullivan’s project early, Evelyn Clayton returned to the studio and got straight to work.

Yara Reagan felt guilty, sitting by her side while she worked, occasionally bringing her tea and water.

"Yara, with you watching me like this, how am I supposed to work?" Evelyn Clayton looked at Yara Reagan helplessly, "If you’re bored, why not watch a movie over there?"

Yara Reagan pouted.

"I’m sorry, Evelyn, it’s all my fault for not investigating clearly beforehand. Now you have to deal with Matthew Sullivan’s harassment..."

"It’s not harassment," Evelyn Clayton patted Yara Reagan’s head, "Aren’t we still making money?"

Yara Reagan looked even more upset, "Evelyn, you’re comforting me despite your grievances..."

"Silly, what grievances?"

As if to confirm Yara Reagan’s words, Matthew Sullivan called the next second.

Although Evelyn Clayton was very annoyed, they currently had a client-provider relationship, so she had to answer.

Yara Reagan cleverly activated the recording function, signaling Evelyn Clayton to put the call on speaker.

"Mr. Sullivan, do you have anything else to discuss?"

"Evelyn, you left in a rush just now and didn’t hear me out. I have some thoughts about this design. Let’s discuss it over dinner later."

Yara Reagan frantically waved her hands, fearing Evelyn Clayton would agree.

Evelyn Clayton reassured her with a nod, mouthing, "Stay calm."

"I won’t entertain anything unrelated to work."

"Evelyn, don’t be so cold. I’m still your fiancé!"

"That won’t be the case for much longer."

Matthew Sullivan had always been arrogant in front of Evelyn Clayton, but now being treated so coldly, he was at his wit’s end.

"Evelyn Clayton, I’ve humbled myself many times for you. Enough is enough!"
