Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 35: Don’t Lose Your Sense of Proportion
CHAPTER 35: CHAPTER 35: DON’T LOSE YOUR SENSE OF PROPORTION
Evelyn Clayton responded with a soft "oh".
Matthew Sullivan praised her sensibility: "I’ll buy you a bag when I have the time to make it up to you."
But Evelyn had hung up before he finished speaking.
She was relieved that she had chosen to wear the smoky pink dress, so she didn’t have to rush to change.
There was no need to even think about it; Matthew Sullivan’s last-minute withdrawal was definitely related to James Grant.
"Evelyn, you’re just stunning." Yara Reagan cupped her face as she gazed at her.
The smoky pink long dress highlighted Evelyn Clayton’s fair and delicate skin. Her makeup was just right, elegant yet exquisitely delicate.
"Tonight, James Grant will definitely earn a lot of face!"
Evelyn Clayton let out a scoff: "His face has nothing to do with me; I’m going for the studio."
Yara Reagan smacked her lips: "So you’re dressed up so beautifully for this reason."
"What else?" Evelyn Clayton raised an eyebrow: "Attending the Grant Family’s banquet means everyone is either rich or noble. I want to grab a few more clients and aim to complete our studio’s annual KPI in three months."
"Wait a minute." Yara Reagan hurriedly stopped her: "Does James Grant know your plan?"
"His opinion doesn’t matter." Evelyn Clayton stuffed her phone into her clutch, waved at her: "I’m off, wait for my triumphant return."
Yara Reagan sighed helplessly.
Clearly attending a banquet, but Evelyn Clayton made it seem like she was going off to war.
Quentin Hale was already waiting downstairs, and upon seeing Evelyn Clayton coming down, he respectfully greeted her.
"Miss Clayton, Director Grant had an unexpected commitment, so he sent me to pick you up first."
Upon hearing this, Evelyn Clayton got into the car without asking questions.
Quentin Hale was taken aback, thinking Evelyn Clayton would inquire what had happened to James Grant, but she seemed utterly unconcerned.
"Aren’t we leaving?" Evelyn Clayton looked at him puzzled.
"My apologies." Quentin Hale hurriedly got in the car.
In the car, Evelyn Clayton seized every moment to go over the studio’s monthly reports, finishing them just before getting out.
"Evelyn."
James Grant got out of another car, and upon seeing her, he naturally stepped forward and wrapped his arm around her waist.
Evelyn Clayton’s body tensed slightly but quickly relaxed again.
She kept convincing herself that this was just a performance.
James Grant curled his lips contentedly and whispered in a voice only they could hear: "There are four journalists sent by magazines on your right rear. Now, please help me adjust my tie."
Evelyn Clayton glanced at him coquettishly, reaching out to adjust his tie: "Such a grown man, yet you can’t even dress yourself?"
She adjusted it for a solid half a minute, letting the reporters take plenty of photos.
James Grant’s custom-made high-end grey suit matched perfectly with Evelyn Clayton’s long dress, clearly showing it was meticulously coordinated.
Their relationship was evident to any keen observer.
This time, the entire hotel was booked for the banquet, with the hotel’s main entrance as the event’s entrance.
The moment James Grant and Evelyn Clayton appeared, they captured the entire room’s attention.
Inside the venue, Harrison Grant was in conversation with someone, but his expression changed the moment he saw the two of them arriving hand in hand.
Yet, James Grant nonchalantly greeted him with Evelyn Clayton in tow.
"Dad."
"Uncle Grant."
With so many people present, Harrison Grant couldn’t say much and quickly adjusted his expression.
"Come, I’ll take you to greet the elders. There are so many people here; don’t lose your composure."
James Grant released Evelyn Clayton’s waist, not forgetting to remind her: "Grab something to eat first; I’ll come find you in a bit."
"Okay."
Many people around watched them and couldn’t help but begin whispering.
After James Grant and Harrison Grant walked away, they talked even more openly.
"That’s Evelyn Clayton; she’s truly quite beautiful. But as the saying goes, beautiful women are trouble, driving two brothers apart can’t be a good woman."
"Exactly, acting all sweet just now, for whom?! "
"Obviously for James Grant! Didn’t you see how he treasures her?"
