Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 4: It’s Just Sleeping with a Man, Why So Worked Up?
CHAPTER 4: CHAPTER 4: IT’S JUST SLEEPING WITH A MAN, WHY SO WORKED UP?
On mentioning this, Matthew Sullivan’s eyes turned even redder. He hadn’t missed the commotion that lasted all night next door.
Back then, he even teased Iris Lockwood, saying that the woman’s voice next door was much more pleasant than hers—lazy and soft, as if carrying countless little hooks, stirring one’s heart and soul.
Eventually, he became so entranced by that seductive voice that he lost interest in Iris Lockwood. He was still thinking about finding out who the woman next door was the next day.
Now that he knows the woman is Evelyn Clayton, and that another man made her make such alluring sounds, Matthew Sullivan wished he could stab that wild man until he was full of holes.
"I told you to open the door, didn’t you hear me!" He fiercely kicked Evelyn Clayton’s door, making the door visibly dent.
Evelyn Clayton furrowed her brows, deeply fearing that Matthew’s actions would anger the fearless person inside the room, causing endless trouble if things really escalated.
"Matthew Sullivan, what are you up to? Do you not understand what our engagement is all about?"
"All these years, you’ve flaunted countless people before me, and I’ve never interfered, have I?"
"I’m just sleeping with a man, why are you so agitated?"
Evelyn Clayton looked completely impatient, as she couldn’t understand Matthew Sullivan’s anger.
Back then, after her father’s death in a car accident, his heart was donated to Harrison Grant, who needed a transplant.
Harrison Grant then decided to take her under his wing, intending for her to marry into the Grant Family in the future.
At first, he planned for his second son, Desmond Grant, to be engaged to Evelyn Clayton.
Shirley Owens disapproved of Evelyn Clayton, vehemently refusing the idea.
In the end, using this as an excuse, Harrison Grant brought his illegitimate son, Matthew Sullivan, back to become Evelyn Clayton’s fiancé.
Shirley Owens effectively shot herself in the foot, causing a huge uproar, which ultimately prevented Harrison Grant from changing Matthew Sullivan’s surname.
However, this also led many to mock Matthew Sullivan, saying that without relying on Evelyn Clayton, he would never return to the Grant Family.
Some even said he was like Evelyn Clayton’s foster husband.
Because of this, Matthew Sullivan has hated Evelyn Clayton since he was young, but he didn’t dare openly propose terminating the engagement, fearing a confrontation with Harrison Grant.
He partly believed the ridicule he received, thinking that if the engagement was called off, Harrison Grant might kick him out, especially since he still hadn’t officially changed his surname.
He bullies the weak and fears the strong, daring to only crush the softer targets like Evelyn instead of angering his father.
Since high school, even with everyone knowing Evelyn Clayton was his fiancée, he changed girlfriends as frequently as he changed clothes.
It was precisely because of his blatant disregard for Evelyn Clayton that Iris Lockwood and her group dared to bully her so brazenly under his nose.
In truth, when Evelyn Clayton was still too young to understand love, after being neglected by the Lockwood Family, she once had a faint hope for her nominal fiancé.
But that slender hope soon turned to ashes under Matthew Sullivan’s cold indifference, with no chance of rekindling.
So now, as she provided Matthew Sullivan with a good excuse and an opportunity for both of them to end the engagement, she truly didn’t understand why he was angry.
"Open the door, open the door!" Matthew Sullivan kicked several times, but the door remained steadfast, and he ended up exhausting himself instead.
Breathing heavily, he pointed at Evelyn Clayton and said viciously, "Are you going to open the door? If you don’t, I’ll call the hotel manager to come up and open it! If that doesn’t work, I’ll have people watch this hotel, unless that wild man can turn invisible. Even if he jumps off the balcony, I will know who he is!"
