CHAPTER 45: CHAPTER 45: A WIFE’S SLAVE BEFORE MARRIAGE

Everyone says Evelyn Clayton is walking between James Grant and Matthew Sullivan, a real femme fatale.

Keith Donovan also initially had some criticisms towards Evelyn Clayton.

After that night, however, he found out Evelyn wasn’t as manipulative as the rumors suggested.

But as it was just a brief encounter, Keith didn’t rush to show his appreciation.

Keith chuckled lightly, "Alright, I’ll go check on them, feel free to do as you please."

To be honest, Evelyn wanted to go home, but James Grant was still riling up with that group.

He was trying to snatch Shawn Donovan’s phone, with several people holding him back, including some beauties.

Evelyn wondered, how long would they keep playing around like this before they could go home?

These young masters might not care about skipping work tomorrow, but she had to rush a project proposal for Matthew Sullivan!

Evelyn covered her mouth with her hand, stifling a yawn.

Fifteen minutes later, quiet finally descended downstairs.

Shawn Donovan suggested continuing the fun at a celebrity club.

James Grant waved it off, "Not today, I’m taking Evelyn home."

"No way! Eldest Young Master Grant, you’re already whipped even before marriage?"

"You guys go ahead. I’ll cover the bill." James Grant tossed his membership card to Shawn Donovan, snapping his fingers at Evelyn to signal her to come over.

He naturally wrapped an arm around Evelyn’s waist, arching his brows proudly, "We’re leaving."

"Sis-in-law, don’t drain Eldest Young Master too dry, we need him back to steer the ship tomorrow!" Shawn Donovan added cheekily.

Once outside Keith Donovan’s house, James Grant immediately let go, the playful spirit vanishing as if it was a different James Grant who had been messing around with Shawn just now.

"I’ll take you home."

"No need." Evelyn knew that James Grant had just used her as an excuse to leave: "Just drop me by the roadside, I can catch a cab myself."

"On the way."

Without giving Evelyn a choice, James Grant hit the gas. She wanted to say more, but he gestured for her to keep quiet.

They had Quentin Hale driving them earlier, but now it was just the two of them on the way back.

Evelyn stared at the rapidly passing scenery outside, her emotions mixed, yet her eyelids grew heavy, and she gradually drifted into sleep.

Half-asleep, she felt the car stop, and something softly draped over her.

Struggling to open her eyes, she was startled to find James Grant’s enlarged, handsome face in front of her.

She woke with a start, nearly bumping her forehead against his.

Looking around, she realized James Grant had parked the car at the company gate’s corner.

"Why did you stop here instead of going out?" Evelyn asked, puzzled.

James Grant’s expression grew serious, gesturing for her to see, "Who do you think these reporters are waiting for so late?"

Evelyn turned her head, indeed seeing a large group of reporters gathered at the entrance, anxiously peeking inside.

She quickly ducked down to avoid being seen by the reporters.

"Do you have another outrageous scandal?"

"I’ve been with you all night, you have no idea what I’ve been up to?" James Grant deliberately spoke in an ambiguous manner.

Evelyn let out a cold laugh.

"Who knows what you were doing before?"

A reporter seemed to notice something, suddenly turning to look in their direction, and though they couldn’t see into the car, recognizing James Grant’s license plate, they swarmed over as if injected with adrenaline.

"Director Grant! James Grant! Are you aware that popular actress Cindy Owens attempted suicide by cutting her wrists tonight? It’s said she did it over a romantic dispute with you, what’s your response to this?"
