Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 478: Be Sure to Come to Me
CHAPTER 478: CHAPTER 478: BE SURE TO COME TO ME
At this point, Evelyn Clayton’s eyes were filled with disappointment.
Julia Lawrence stood there as if struck by lightning, stunned.
Evelyn Clayton paused and spoke calmly, "So, whether you speak or not, it doesn’t matter much. I will handle this issue by other means."
Evelyn Clayton was well aware that even if Julia provided evidence this time, proving that Soren Foster was behind this, it wouldn’t harm Summer Monroe in the slightest.
Because Evelyn Clayton understood Summer Monroe very well.
For Summer Monroe, the worst outcome of this situation would be nothing more than abandoning Soren Foster.
And abandoning Soren Foster was nothing to Summer Monroe; it wouldn’t be as heartbreaking as a plummeting stock price.
To give Julia Lawrence time to think it through, Evelyn Clayton stood up and said lightly, "Think it over yourself. I hope you can reveal the truth completely for the sake of our friendship."
Leaving the meeting room, Evelyn Clayton noticed that both Violet Ford and Franklin Ford had already left, and she dragged her somewhat weary body back to her office.
Just seated for a moment, Rhys Jacobs came in.
"Lucy Carter’s video just hit the trending topic." Rhys Jacobs frowned deeply, indicating that he had been troubled for the past couple of days, "The online criticisms are mounting."
Evelyn Clayton clicked to take a brief look, and most comments under the latest video were warning Lucy Carter to be careful, followed by insults directed at her.
Some even suggested that Lucy Carter should call the police immediately, applying for a restraining order to prevent Evelyn Clayton from approaching her.
Evelyn Clayton let out a laugh from her throat and handed her phone to Rhys Jacobs, "This is our recording from earlier. Post the full version to respond."
Lucy Carter only thought about making videos to continue slandering them, never expecting she would record it.
This was the fallback Evelyn Clayton had left.
Rhys Jacobs took the phone and went out, but he returned quickly after just two minutes.
"Your phone..." Rhys Jacobs coughed lightly, handing the ringing phone to Evelyn Clayton.
Evelyn Clayton took a look, and the screen prominently displayed the name James Grant.
With keen insight, Rhys Jacobs stepped out, Evelyn Clayton paused briefly, and then picked up the call.
"Evelyn Clayton." James Grant’s voice was hoarse and deep, "What’s going on online? Are you okay?"
Evelyn Clayton pinched the bridge of her nose, and her voice unintentionally grew raspy, "I’m okay, it’s within my control."
James Grant remained silent for a while before speaking, "That’s good. When trouble arises, don’t bear it alone. If you need help, remember to reach out to me."
Evelyn Clayton opened her mouth to say something but swallowed her words.
James Grant repeated himself, "Be sure to remember to find me, okay?"
"...Mm." Evelyn Clayton responded vaguely, "Are you doing okay over there? According to the news, you seemed to be doing well recently."
Evelyn Clayton still remembered when Thorne Entertainment’s stock had plummeted some time ago.
Summer Monroe had suffered a heavy blow.
James Grant’s tone suddenly turned light-hearted, "Do you care about me?"
Evelyn Clayton pursed her lips, biting them slightly before responding, "Reciprocation is courtesy, James Grant, don’t push it."
"Ha..." James Grant let out a low laugh, "I haven’t heard you speak to me like this in a long time."
Evelyn Clayton was momentarily speechless.
"I’m not teasing you." James Grant’s voice cleared up considerably, seemingly in a good mood, but what he said was quite the opposite, "I was doing pretty well, but today things took a downturn. A project was sabotaged, losing three hundred million."
He spoke so casually that Evelyn Clayton almost thought James Grant was joking, "What?"
"Sabotaged, at least three hundred million." James Grant remained nonchalant, "Though getting to speak with you provides me some comfort."
Evelyn Clayton turned serious, speaking in a calm tone, "What exactly happened?"
Yesterday at dinner, everything seemed fine.
"Someone manipulated things from behind the scenes, acquiring shares from some of Harvestide Holdings’ old shareholders, I got stabbed in the back."
