Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 479: Lukewarm
CHAPTER 479: CHAPTER 479: LUKEWARM
James Grant remained indifferent, while Evelyn Clayton frowned deeply.
There’s no need to think too much; this matter must involve Summer Monroe.
Because Harvestide Holdings used to be Thorne Holdings, a company under her control.
And although James Grant removed some of the old guards when he rose to power, he must have kept some of the old shareholders to consolidate his ’empire.’
It wasn’t too surprising to Evelyn Clayton that these old shareholders turned traitor.
But James Grant was clearly suffering greatly because of it.
"Three hundred million, doesn’t it hurt?" Evelyn Clayton sighed, with a hint of sarcasm, "It seems the one who needs help is you. Do you need my help?"
James Grant chuckled softly, "Are you willing to help me?"
Evelyn Clayton raised her eyebrows, thinking of something but not saying it out loud.
She originally wanted to say that Lynn Yates is your fiancée, you should ask her for help.
But obviously, it was not the right time to say such things.
"If you need it, I’ll do everything I can." Evelyn Clayton restrained herself, "After all, I owe you."
On the other end of the phone, James Grant seemed momentarily choked.
After a long while, he spoke with a slightly heavy tone, "I don’t need you to owe me anything; I just wanted to hear your voice."
Evelyn Clayton’s heartbeat skipped for a moment.
Suppressing the fluttering feeling, she held back from speaking for a long time.
But James Grant took no offense, saying to himself, "Hearing your voice is a comfort in itself."
An indescribable feeling spread from her heart, and Evelyn Clayton couldn’t pinpoint what it was. She just slightly tightened her grip on the phone, her breathing becoming a bit heavier.
Suddenly, James Grant chuckled lightly.
"Alright, Keith Donovan is here, let’s end the call for now."
Evelyn Clayton responded late, "Okay."
James Grant hung up the phone and looked up at the entering Keith Donovan.
Keith Donovan teased, "Tsk tsk tsk, who were you calling? Couldn’t let me hear it, and hung up as soon as I came in?"
"What is it?" James Grant was impatient, "If you have something to say, say it."
Keith Donovan shouted, "Hey, don’t be so heartless. I heard something happened on your side and came to check on you specially!"
James Grant ignored him, turning his attention directly to look at the stock trends.
Keith Donovan, full of curiosity, leaned in to take a look.
"Oh man, you lost quite a bit this time." Keith Donovan was startled.
However, seeing James Grant still composed and silent, Keith Donovan gave a thumbs up, "Bro, you’re something else, calm under pressure, you’re meant for big things."
James Grant was too lazy to bicker with him, remaining silently poised.
Keith Donovan feared James was bottling up too much, leaned forward and said, "James, don’t keep things to yourself, losing some money is nothing. At worst, Trevor and I can fund you, three hundred million—that’s nothing."
James Grant propped up his chin, then slowly said, "I’m just thinking about a question."
Keith Donovan was momentarily stunned, "What question?"
Realizing, Keith Donovan quickly said, "Oh! You mean about the acquisition of Harvestide Holdings’ shares, the mastermind behind manipulating the stock price? Could it be Summer?"
"No." James Grant denied flatly, "She doesn’t have such capabilities. This is much like Matthew Sullivan’s handiwork."
Keith Donovan clicked his tongue, "Your cheap brother? Hasn’t he been jailed twice? Still able to jump around?"
James Grant smiled lightly, "No matter how many times he’s been jailed, Harrison Grant always treats him like his own son. He always has a share in the old man’s assets."
Keith Donovan listened, growing a bit more serious.
"Honestly, James, if you really can’t stand Matthew Sullivan, I can join forces with Tristan Hawthorne to sort him out for you."
