Flirted Wrong, Married Right
Chapter 506: Poor Alcohol Tolerance
CHAPTER 506: CHAPTER 506: POOR ALCOHOL TOLERANCE
Shirley Owens’ face turned a mix of purple and blue, not knowing what to say for quite a while.
Soon, James Grant noticed the commotion here and arrived a bit late.
"Everyone, why does no one look happy?" Director Grant smiled, "Today my mother is happy and had a few extra drinks, so if she said anything inappropriate, please don’t mind."
Jasper Grant smiled gently and calmly, looking at Shirley Owens, and softly said, "Mom, why don’t you go and rest for a while?"
Shirley Owens wanted to say something, but after meeting Jasper Grant’s gaze, she suddenly closed her mouth.
She reluctantly glared at Evelyn Clayton, then turned around and walked away quickly.
Evelyn Clayton felt a bit like she was caught in the crossfire.
"Director Grant, your mother’s tolerance for alcohol really isn’t very high." Violet Ford spoke coldly at this moment, with undisguised sarcasm in her eyes.
Jasper Grant was very courteous, seemingly with some shame, "Sorry to have made Miss Ford laugh."
Since he was being so humble, Violet Ford couldn’t be overly difficult, and was about to leave with Evelyn Clayton and Yara Reagan, "Then let Director Grant chat with Franklin. We won’t disturb you."
"Wait a moment!" Jasper Grant politely stopped them, with a smile that appeared very sincere, "I have something I want to say to Miss Clayton."
Saying this, Jasper Grant smiled kindly at Evelyn Clayton, his tone much more natural, "Could you spare a moment to talk, Sister Evelyn?"
His attitude was too humble, so Evelyn Clayton couldn’t refuse, and had to give a glance to Violet Ford and Yara Reagan, then went with Jasper Grant to the swing set in the garden corner.
The place was much quieter, the marble pillar in front of the swing set wasn’t very tall, but because of the flowers and plants placed there it stood out, also seemingly blocking the clinking glasses in the garden, offering a moment of tranquility.
Evelyn Clayton glanced at Jasper Grant’s gentle and clear side profile, but felt a bit cautious inside.
Just like she thought before while discussing this person with James Grant, Jasper Grant seemed gentle and modest, but he was very likely to be someone who plays dumb to catch the wise.
Otherwise, with such a short time serving in his position, he would have managed the entire Atlas Group in an orderly manner, saying that he hadn’t hidden his true abilities, Evelyn Clayton definitely couldn’t believe it.
"Just now, my mother said some unpleasant things to you, I hope you can forgive her." Jasper Grant maintained a graceful demeanor, seemingly still immersed in guilt, and sighed softly, "My mother, as you know..."
Evelyn Clayton remained impassive, just politely replied, "Director Grant, you’re overpraising me. Mrs. Owens is, after all, an elder, and there’s nothing I can’t understand from her."
"Although she’s an elder, she shouldn’t have said those things either."
Jasper Grant smiled helplessly, "Thank you, Sister Evelyn, for your understanding."
Evelyn Clayton observed him for a moment, then changed the subject, "So, what is it that you want to tell me?"
Although Jasper Grant always gave the impression of wearing a mask, given his courteous manner, Evelyn Clayton couldn’t maintain a cold face.
"It’s like this, lately I’ve found it hard to reach my brother." Jasper Grant showed a bit of concern, "I wonder how he’s doing lately?"
Evelyn Clayton raised an eyebrow, "How he’s doing, why don’t you ask him directly, or ask Lynn Yates?"
Upon hearing this, Jasper Grant shook his head with a wry smile, "Sister Evelyn, don’t you know? In fact, the person who matters most to my brother is always you, and if I ask him, he might not be willing to say even a single extra word."
